I would like to start a Tip of the Week... I am going to do the first one... but would like to ask others to volunteer to type up the next few.. if nobody volunteers, I will do my best to keep comming up with stuff.. but I would really think this would be neat to have help on this... If we came out with them on Wednesdays, then by the time the weekend came we could really pay off with our fish catches... Ok?

So first please reply to this thread if you would be willing to take a date.. (I will update this thread to keep it updated.)

Aug 2nd (dan2957)

Aug 9th (Mr. Pike1)

Aug 16th (ocf)

Aug 23rd (ikeslayer)

Aug 30th

Sept 6th

Sept 13th

Sept 20th

Sept 27th....

My First Tip...

Cold front conditions... Many people feel the need when a cold front to downsize and fish as slow as possible. And often times that works.. However, next time you are in a tough fishing situation and slowing down isn't working. Go the other way!!! Speed up!.. fish a crankbait as fast as you can, or instead if you are using a 1/16 oz tube jig, jump it up to 1/2 oz. Often times the faster moving bait will trigger their impulse to strike. Give it a shot next time you are having a hard time catching fish, it may put a few more fish in the boat!

Good topic, and good first tip Deitz!

I agree, changing up your tactics... in the opposite direction of what your mind tells you to do... can oftentimes trigger a reaction strike from those stubborn fish. I think we might be experiencing one of those stubborn times grin.gif

It looks like I am slated for the week of Aug 9th to share a secret. However, I just could not keep quite. Here a my pre-tip of the week.

Noise can be your friend. When I grew up all I ever heard was "quite" your going to scare the fish. When fishing a senko or other bait of choice I prefer to make a big time splash entry. Many times the fish are under docks or overhanging tree and they are just waiting to hear the splash of some wounded prey to attack.

Now get out on the water and make some Noise !!!!!!

Oh and Dietz I have a little gift for you. A nice new huge Wind chime !!!!!

Tip of the week for August 2nd.

Jig fishing:

There are some days that bass seem they just do not want to hit a jig. When this happens try deadsticking the jig. Deadsticking is when you throw the jig and just let it sit on the bottom of the lake. Try to leave the jig in the same location for an extended period of time. You may want to lift the jig very slowly off the bottom and then leave it sit for 20 seconds or more. It takes some time to develop patience to work a jig this way but once you start catching fish you will find that the rewards were worth the effort.

Good luck.

All-terrain and outkast jigs for me. I have an addition to the jigs tip

-if the fish aren't biting your jig, try switching the style or color of your trailer. A small subtle change in claw size or shape could make the difference. One of my new favorites for trailers is the Gander beaver tail style plastic, called a Yo Mama. Get the smallest version, or bite off half of the body, and you are ready for some big bass action!

On the noise issue.

Smallmouth especially are curious fish by nature. When in the water wading hitting two rock together (underwater) will often work like a duck call for fish. I've tried it and I think it helped me out. Great thread love the info keep it up
