archer59
Nothing interesting for me to report this past weekend.... but we all know somewhere, something worth laughing about happened. Let's hear it.Nick
hanson
I heard something on the radio this morning about a guy having a problem with his boat ON the concrete ramp at an Alexandria area lake. He dropped the motor down before backing the boat into the lake and it sounded like the boat rolled off the back of the trailer while on the ramp, the motor hit the ground first and sounded like it didn't want to stay on the transom anymore.True or not? Not sure. I heard it on the radio. If it was... Ouch!
PierBridge
It was bit interesting to show up at Hidden Falls Boat Ramp to find a Jet Ski Tournament being run right off the RAMP .... I was thinking to myself why would they give them a permit to do this right off the Boat Ramp? Answer, the Sherriff didn't know anything about it and last I heard was writing tickets. It was Zoo on Pool 2.... ..with the boat races going on up stream and all the usual weekend pleasure boats plus 500 Jet Ski's it made for a LK Minnetonka like expierence.. The crazy thing was the Fish were still biting.....

The show went on.. ....it was just a bad weekend to have the entire river blocked off, during each Run "race" there must of been 10 boats waiting for the heat to be over so they could pass through the slalom course and head up stream to the lock....some of the bigger boats didn't seem very happy. bucketmouth64
This happened a couple of weeks ago. My neighbor helped me do some trailer repairs at a landing. I launched my boat and beached it while we did the repairs. When I was ready to land the boat again we were standing on the dock. I told him that some of the funniest and nuttiest things happen at boat landings. Well, right before our eyes a guy was pulling up his boat and I yelled to stop. He didn't lift his motor up. My neighbor looked at me at disbelief right after I told him what happens. Then another older couple was landing a pontoon. Wife was backing the trailer in, husband was out in the water yelling at her to back it straight in not crooked. This went on for about 15 minutes. My neighbor was cracking up. Then it was my turn, backed in and out in 10 minutes.
archer59
In the past on a busy weekend a couple of us would get out the lawn chairs, and the cooler, and sit close to the White Bear Ramsey beach ramp. Had more that a couple of folks holler at us cause we were laughing. Well I know I have provided a chuckle or two at the ramp. NIck

PierBridge
Hidden falls is hilarius, there is an Eddy and it's comical to watch boaters try to drive their boats on to their trailers.
nofishfisherman
I always wondered about Hidden Falls, it seems like a tricky place to load a boat. I might have to go sit on the rocks off to the side of the ramp and watch the show.

Fishin4Life
An eddy is when the current moves in a circular motion. Usually happens after rocks, or something that hinders the flow of the river. Mabye a point etc... here is a picture explanation too

SpecialK
Pretty sure I caused someone to get a laugh at Marion in Lakeville last night. If you were the guy that helped get the boat back on the trailer, many thanks! I did learn a valuable lesson about backing in to far to load anyway. SpecialK
Backed in to far (boat was still floating) pulled out boat tried to flip off the trailer. Guy helped hold the boat the next time so it stayed where it was supposed to. Yes it was a learning moment for me. I didn't make the same mistake tonight at Spring... Mr. Pike1
This was last year. I am already late to get off the water so I has gots some explaining to do when I get home. Guy has his boat at the launch and I am patiently waiting to pull up. The truck is just sitting there for what seemed forever. I finally can not take it and begin yelling what the &%%^%&%& is going on.He had locked his keys in the truck and waiting for help..
Sutty
After about three nights in a row of 3 hours sleep I am sure I could have caused some laughs dumping the boat in and out of lake michigan last weekend. My best do far was the time I forgot to take off the back straps and couldn't figure out why I couldn't go anywhere A whole crowd of people got a laugh out of that one. It was a supper club launch on Big Stone SD lots of people in the windows...
cold one sd
I backed mine in a while back with the tie downs still attached too. My wife asked me what that told me and I replied," I'm not fishing near enough.". End of conversation.
jigger
At the hastings boat launch I saw a woman back a brand new boat off the side of the ramp. Her man was in the boat cussing up blue streak as the trailer was sitting on the tar ramp with a tire spinning in the air. It was laugh out loud funny. archer59
Years ago I did the old .. no plug in the boat trick. By myself, dumped the boat in, parked the truck, walked back to the ramp to see the Explorer sitting a little low in the water. Thank God for bilge pumps. Luckily only a couple of others at the ramp. I now have three extra plugs in my boat. I can't take off the back straps with out seeing one. Good reminder. ( I never really take the plug out anymore unless I'm out in the rain all day ) Nick
nytelyter
i never understand the reason for panic in this matter or even the need for a builge pump. if you just get the boat up on plane and run around for a while the water WILL drain back out. i used to use an old trihull that leaked pretty bad due to bad trailering and never had to put the boat on the trailer to drain it i would just plane out and pull the plug and in minutes the water was back out of the boat. give it a trey next time it happens. ... paul
