Rank yourself!

Now that we are a few weeks into fishing how would you rank yourself as a fishermen? What are your strong points and what do you need to improve? I'll go first well 30 plus years gives me some experience on the water, I do pretty well on Bass my chosen fish I land Northerners when I go out looking for them and I have not fished for walleyes in years. I have a very good memory which can be a bad thing as I fish a lake and remember all the good spots and may spent to much time on places where I have caught fish before. I am willing to change baits and try different tactics but I do give a decent amount of time before I start to experiment. I should go back and fish for panfish and do some fly rod fishing. Over all I would rate myself a b- not nearly good enough for the pro circuit but good enough to survive for a while eating fish..How about you?

I will give myself a B for panfish,B for slimers and a c+ for walleyes.I need to spend more time fishing eyes to get better. Those pannies are just so much fun. This of course is my ranking and not the ranking of Matt, who might say I'am a C for pannies. wink.gif

I am going to Rank myself as an "N"

Needs Improvement. Somehow this has stuck with me since Kindergarten.

I like it! I'm constantly learning and striving to improve so I'm not afraid to be critical of myself either.

Are we ranking by the fish we catch, buzz we catch, or tan we get. Because on average of those three I would probably be an A! haha, if you rank them seperatly one area might be lacking a bit on the **cough cough, # of fish cought***. LOL

My mom always told me as a kid it was all about having fun, haha tongue.gif

I'll go with Satisfactory

because

I'm satisfied with my abilities as an amateur.

No desire to wear one them w40re shirts.

I catch enough to keep it fun, but I fish for recreation and relaxation. The pressure to produce, that tournament pros and guides have, would be anti-productive for my recreation/relaxation.

I would have to rank my self a "W" (work in progress) I can catch fish using live baits and cranks but I havent gained the confidence in plastics yet...but Im getting there ...My goal for this year is to get away from live bait completely ...I have recently started to use plastics drop shotting with some sucess so I dont see My goal as unachievable

I would get an F. Thats right, Fun! Fishing to me is a lot like hunting... The quality time that I spend fishing with some one far outweighs any fish that are caught. There is no CPR in hunting though! Have a good one and N Joy the Hunt././Jimbo

I concurr with desperado. Sometimes fishing seems so easy when the fish cooperate and other times I think the only lure that would work would be dynamite. But that is the way I like it........

"B" for fishing, "C-" for catching. As for a fishing partner, I would say I am as good as any. I am a great netter. Can pass a beer from the cooler with the best of them, I am proficient at anchor deployment and retrieval. I am an excellent backer. I am also proficient at boat ops. Tiller and console if the need arises (this includes scrambling to the drivers seat to turn around and pull you from the water should the need arise). I am versed in all trolling motor models, bow and stern mounted. I can operate most cameras or when required, perpetuate the "story" as needed. Overall, "B+"

I would myself a NI. Needs improvement. I have fished for 25 years but last year I bought my first boat. This is a whole new game to fishing than sitting in the bow and catching fish. I am more concerned with my boat control than anything. When I get that down I would say that I could strive to be a C+ walleye fisherman. cool.gif

I just asked my kids and they said I was an "A+". I am great at baiting their hooks, untangling their lines, taking off their fish, and taking their pictures.....Did I miss anything??? smile.gif
