I was fishing for walleye in green lake in kandiyohi county when i hooked into a 35 in channel catfish that weighed approximately 28 lbs according to the computer. I had a 20 # digital scale and it maxed that out.

bnbrk94, that is a huge channel cat! I had no idea the Green had any cats in it. I'm jealous.

My biggest has been a 37.5 inch northern last summer. It was a very fat fish, too. Hopefully, a nice, big flathead will be replacing that this summer grin.gif

you forgot about us flyfishers in your post, size doesn't matter tongue.gif

Let's talk about the smallest fish you've ever caught, a one inch bluegill.

Flyfishing for stream trout doesn't neccesarily equal humongous fish. My largest fish I've caught in recent times was probably the 6.5# walleye I caught this winter. Pretty good for a trout fisherman wink.gif

Pulled an 18.5 lb carp up out of 40' of water on Koronis fishing for walleyes. The ironic part about this particular fish was that I caught it the day after spending 9 days in Canada fishing for big northerns and none of the northerns during those 9 days came close to that 18.5 lb carp. Thought I had a new state record walleye until we got it close to the boat, and then my fishing partners started threatening to cut my line. mad.gif

Hooked into and landed a 45 inch 44 lb Flathead on the Minnesota river just west of New Ulm Mn June 20th 97. That same summer in roughly the same 2 mile stretch of river three close friends of mine each landed a fish over 30lbs. My 44 happened to be the largest of the group by about 5 lbs. We were fishing a sharp curve in the river and droping large creek chubs near brush. I was using 50lb braided line, 4 oz weight, with a 20 inch snell to about a 10 inch chub. Caught the fish around 2:30 or so in the afternoon. Never landed anything that had that much power. Not even close. 5.3lb bass, 13.8 lb pike, 9.7 lb walleye, 15 lb carp.... none of which could pull drag like that cat. wink.gif

I haven't had the luck most of you have had. Two 20lb plus carp fishing walleye at Big Stone, and one 20lb plus carp fishing carp in the Minnesota River by New Ulm as a kid. They are ugly, but fun to catch. All of them were caught on 6lb test, so it was a good fight.
