2006 Ford Truck problems

I'm starting to search for a new Truck. I've had Dodge Rams for the last 2 trucks and like them. However, 2006 Rams do not have E-85 capabilities. I like the new 2006 Fords, but now have heard from to other owners that there is a problem with the injectors... Anyone heard anything about a problem or recall.

Wayne, I would stay with Dodge, the new Hemis shut down few cylinders when not much power is needed resulting in better gas mileage.

If you go to Diesel, Cummins is still the best, Powerstrokes 6.0 still (an will..) always have problem with injectors.

We will read all the Ford owners going against me now.....

Well Agape maybe you should looks for a Chevy. Best trucks out their . Their 1/2 tons with the 5.3 vortec are E 85 compatable and as far as I know they have no problems. Well there now all major brands are in the mix. I suppose someone should mention Toyota I will leave that up to Airjer. I guess my personal opionion is that if you are satisfied with your current brand stick with them. If you like your Dodges stay with them. That is why I continue to own a Chevy I have never had any major problems with any that I have owned. If and when I have problems them I maybe looking around at others but right now I satisifed.

I have heard with the E85 your gas mileage actually is less than the trucks that run on regular gas. Is there any truth to that? I get 15 mpg with my truck.

Any way, i have an '04 F150 crew cab lariat that I bought in Sept 2003. i have had two issues with my truck:

1. I have gone through a set of rotors and brakes already on the front and breaks on the rear. i just hit 42,000 miles. Not impressed.

2. The A/C button went out. The air wouldn't turn on. thank god it was under warranty because it would have been $1000 fix.

Other than those two issues I love the truck. If you drive the F150 and all of the others, the ride is so much better in the F150 it is even close. i did like the Hemi engine but the ride in the dodge was like riding the old white roller coaster at valley fair. All over place at any speeds.

For all chevy owners, how can you buy a product that they compare to a rock?

had to do it, any brand vehicle is going to have its issues not all but its not uncommon, i would stick to what you know or what your looking for , i dont own a truck, but i have had a chev suburban that i dint have any major issues, and i currently have a 94 gmc suburban 4x4 and really like it, got room for the kids and dogs, and it works for me good luck in whatever you choose

Walleye71 use if you run staight E 85 your mileage will be worse. I know a few people that blend their fuel half regular and half E 85 and then they get a cheaper tank of fuel and don't loose near as much in mileage.

Any truck you buy will run forever if you take care of it. I have a few buddies that have Fords and they have not had any issues. Personally I bought a 2005 Chevy z-71 back in August and I love it!! All the bells and whistles. Hands down, the most comfortable truck I have ever owned.

I drive a F-150 but looking at a new truck. I also loved the ride of the Chev Z-71. All the bells and whistles like ya say and it has a lot more snap to it than my F-150 with the smaller 8 in it. I like my gas mileage but now that I have a bigger boat I could use more power. Man are new trucks expensive!

Northlander your right new are expensive but with a little looking you can find a good used one at a great price. With all the promotions the dealers have been running it has left alot of used trucks around. Just something to consider.

all makers of trucks have good products, as long as they are ford, GM, or dodge. I have had great luck with my ford trucks. oil changes have been the only thing needed for the last 14 years (three trucks) .

the new F-150 trucks have the 300 HP motors, which greatly improved my towing. as I also have a large boat to pull.

as for prices, they have gotten terrible, the thing is they biuld these like a luxury car, with all the bells and whistles. but its so great to drive or own a new truck. I love my 04 F-150 FX4, even though I almost took on another morgage.

I have read a few reports on the dodge rams with cylinder deactivation. It sounds like it really doesn't work that well in the pickups because of thier weight and aerodynamics, and rarely runs on the 4-cylinders as intended. I guess it works great in the cars though.

New tundra was brought out at the chicago auto show a couple of weeks ago. Looks like they are going to be a player in the horsepower wars with ford, chevy, dodge and nissan. 5.7 liter with a 6-speed automatic. No numbers released on it yet though.

Last year the F-150 was the only pick-up rated by Consumer Reports to receive a black mark. From what I understand there was issues with the 4wd. I only remember this because I was looking at them and after reading that, decided not to buy.

I really enjoy my 05 Ford F-150 S-crew. I have not had any problems yet...but I only have about 5k miles on it. It sure worked good the last time we had a heavy snowfall...pulled several Chevy trucks out of the snow with it. Just kidding........I pushed them instead

On a serious note, I think most of todays trucks are built well..and should last a long time with proper care. Buy what you like and what works for you. Some people like vehicles with all the bells and whistles...I on the other hand dont really care. As long as it has power windows, AC and a CD player, I am a happy camper. Good luck in your search.

A friend I work with has a 2005 F-150 and has had several problems with it so far.The 4x4 doesn't engage all the time,the reverse lights always go out,and something with the ignition? The new Toyota Tundra is supposed to have over 300hp out of it's 5.7 ltr V-8,and also be bigger then it previously was.It will be expensive though.

A buddy of mine just had the injectors go out on his f150 Sunday with less than 6,000 miles. Stranded him on the way to the lake at 6am. He was not happy! The guy at the shop said some other guys went out around 13,000 miles. Not good!

Just because you take care of a vechile doesn't mean it is going to be worry free if it is not made well. I have had Fords in the past and will never buy again. But all brands have had their problems throughout the years, my 2001 suburban has had 6 recalls. Dodge had major tranny problems in the past with the Rams. Also heard the new Fords have had some problems as well. Do your homewrok and check out all vehicles with Consumer Reports, Edmunds, etc before you buy and make your purchase by getting the vehicle that has the least and less expensive repairs. I still say it's a "luck of the draw" deal. It dosen't matter what name is on the grille or what country the headquarters are in. They all make good ones and they all make bad ones. Think about it, in todays world with instant news and reports do you think a company could make a bad product and still stay in business? We all hear the "I know a guy who's truck did this" and "Mine did that" and so on, but there is no way a company could survive in todays world producing junk. It dosen't matter if we are talking trucks or sewing machines, the stock holders will not put up with the lack of profits and bad publicity.

My mom has a Nissan that has had some issues. Its a good truck but it has some things that I personally don't like. Same goes for our Pontiac, Chevy and Dodge. All three are very good vehicles but not perfect. Things wear out and things break. However, the last Ford I owned I only got 198,000 miles (tranny at 154,000) on it before I traded it in. My .02

The nice thing about the f150, they are easy to troubleshoot. The problem is circled right up on the grill.
