Christmas gifts

Obviously we are all hunters and with Xmas fast approaching I have to get some gifts for members of my family. Is there anything that you guys or gals have for hunting or fishing around $15-25, that maybe other people don't have or think of. Something small like a certain kind of glove, sock, hunting movie etc... that you really like or a little gadget that you wouldn't go hunting/fishing without? Maybe it will give some other people ideas, for example I recieved an edgemaker knife sharpening system for a gift and I think its awesome and only 20-25 dollars.

Thanks in advance grin.gif.

For the deer hunters Lava soap makes a handi-wipe thing in individual packs and 10 packs. These work great for removing any blood after gutting - best thing is they also cut the fat that can build up on your hands and knives. Just keep them in a shirt pocket so they don't freeze. Bundle up a few along with some gutting gloves for an inexpensive stocking stuffer.

Maybe something like an adjustable bow hanger for someone who may not have one. Or even scent control pack which usually has laundry detergent, bath soap, and deodarant. Or a camoflauge fanny pack or backpack. Or maybe a new grunt call or the Can....rattle bag. Disposable heat packs and new wool socks are always appreciated too.

I think you're going to get a lot of suggestions on this topic.

Good post...I was actually thinking about this for my friends and family as well.

great responses so far, keep em coming. Hopefully more people will find this useful. I like the ideas. The boot dryer is something I've never thought of. Thanks, for all the ideas.

By the way, 27 flashlights, there has got to be a story behind that.

For a movie... if you can find it, get Escanaba in da Moonlight

It's a hilarious movie about a couple of guys deer hunting the the UP of Michigan... the first half to 2/3 of the movie is really funny... the last 1/3 is a little odd.. but a good movie none the less.. IFFWALLEYES has made watching this movie part of his ritual deer hunting routine...

You can definitely get Tru Glo fiber optic sights for under $25 & a lot of guys that hunt a lot don't have them. You just need to know what kind of shotgun they have. They're especially nice to have on slug barrels. They are a little more fragile though. I'm clutsy enough to have completely broken my front sight once & knocked out part of the fiber optic again this year. Still would rather have them then just the iron ones.

A balaclava is $20 or less & a great thing to have as well if you hunt any cold weather. That's the pull over, usually fleece, hood/facemask with a draw string, that can also be used as just a neck muffler. They really help keep you warm. I know a lot of guys that hunt that don't have those either.

For a waterfowl hunter, decoys are almost always a great gift. Maybe get a confidence decoy or that rare pair of canvas back decoys...

Marine Man, I found a copy at Blockbuster so it can probably be purchased there.

I married a Yopper from Escanaba and we watched it together. She was not so thin skinned as a lot of people were about the movie Fargo, she thought Esc by Moonlight was funny.

In the backpack thread, one of those hydration packs might be a nice gift.

It is a great thing if you hike a lot. The delivery tube can be clipped right to your collar, and no more messing with water bottles.

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
