I wrote my dl on the outside with a permenant marker and for the last three years it has held up fine.Next year I may have to redue it,as it does fade somewhat. If I sell it,next year it will probably be almost gone so the next guy can write his there.

I have a voyageur and they have that flap just for the license #. I was wondering what I needed to do, I thought I was going to have to bring it in to have it sewn on, but I suppose a black marker would work pretty well. Have any of you tried that on a clam???

Cant believe they would change a DL # for renewal purposes.

I can see if you were "revoked" and needed total reinstatement, but for renewal it seems like a big ID hassle/cost for nothing!! Will have to check the DMV on that I just had mine renewed last Sept and it didn't change ?

Mn. has changed thier numbering system. I got a new # last January. The licences look diferent and the number doesn't start with the first letter of your last name anymore.

If you have the old syle DL (with the red top on it) the new DL's were updated so they do not use the A-, B-, C-, etc. numbers anymore, The new DL's have some kind of anti-duplication stuff on it so that fake ones can not be made and will change your DL number everytime you renew. I had called the DMV on this as my checks have my DL on them to and had one rejected because of it.

I used to just write on my house with a perm black marker but now i have a black shack so i took a piece of white bedspread and wrote my D.L. number on that....cut it out and sowed it on the house. Looks pretty solid. I think it should last....a few years anyways.

I have a black portable and thus permanent marker doesnt work well on the side and with the windows being foggy i cant write it on their either. What I did to solve the problem was to affix a string to a piece of cardboard and attach that to the zipper. Cardboard isnt the most sturdy, but for 3 months out of the year the ice and cold dont seem to bother it. PLus, if you ever forget its always a good thing to bring a marker with, theirs always something with that can hold ink. To answer the above question, MN requires this info either a name, address, or drivers license number...most ppl prefer the # because it is less informative to the game wardens and other anglers.

I took an old ForSale sign and cut it up to fit the license slot on my portable. I then took 2.5" reflective letters and put my MDNR# on the back of the old ForSale sign (stiff plastic). Now I can move my license from portable to portable (only can use one at a time). With identity theft all the rage I wouldn't use my DL# on a sign.

I use the license holder for my fish trap. Just punch a hole through the canvas where you want it and insert the quick connect tabs (the holder is removable). I printed my DNR # out on a computer, laminated it, and slid it into the holder. Works fine

Here's a deal that happened, if you do a permanent number on your house and you have to renew your DL, your DL number will change. Found that out the hard way renewing mine 2 weeks ago and my old DL is permanent on it.
