walleyehawk
You know what Freddie says, 68% of the earth is covered by water, the other 42% is covered by Freddie Smoot. I think he must have mistaken the Carolina stadium for water. Freddie has been getting himself into a lot of trouble on the water lately!
soldoncass
Neither Smoot nor any other corner can cover Smith one on one, when the qb has NO pressure. I wonder if the coaches know what "adjustments" mean? I'd like to see Shanahan as V coach. Who do you like?

JIvers
Word has it the Viking players are lobbying for Linehan to be brought in as a replacement for Mike Tice next season. For now, we are probably stuck with Tice for the remainder of the season. College coaches and NFL coordinators are locked in to their contracts for the remainder of the season, so they are off limits. Bud Grant is seventy-eight and has been out of the game for twenty years, so he is not a realistic option. You could lure someone currently out of the game (Jimmy Johnson's name has been floated), but someone like that would cost big bucks, and turning this season around now would be a huge task. Stratosman
All that money spent on a secondary??? And still one of the worst defenses in the league, how is it possible. I have to admit, watching Smoot get torched was one of the funniest things I have seen in a long time, what made it better is how he was running his yap about how he was gonna shut Smith down. By halftime I had enough and went bowhunting.
mnvikingsfreak
smoot is good and so is everybody else on the defense minus a few players it's 100% coaching think the vikes D would be this bad if we had Bill Belichick or Bill Cowher as a coach HECK NO!! that whole coaching staff is full of losers LOL the funny thing is Tice thinks Ted Cotrell is head coaching material! better luck next year vikes! win twins! Fishin Beast
We have almost always had decent people on the teams that dont trash talk much so hopefully fans in other cities see this and discard the one or 2 bad egos. The near future of Minnesota sports isn't looking that great, with the exception of hockey. What happened to the years we would make the playoffs with every single sport, even though we did lose out almost every first round but still it was atleast nice to have a somewhat decent team.I am going to predict it will be the Twins with the next playoff berth in 2007. IFallsRon
Smoot math: 68 + 42 = er, 100.Fred should be enjoying every payday until the end of the year cause he won't be around next year.
juggs
Nothing better than seeing a guy shoot his mouth off about how good he is, then getting lit up. Hope you got some good suntan lotion, Freddy, cuz you got burned.
buzzsaw
Some people learn from their mistakes, others do not. I guess only time will tell if our dear Mr. Smoot has learned anything from this..... any bets?
otto_man
Wasn't Mr. Smut going to take the Queens to the Super Bowl, along with Sharper and all the rest? another year of great expectations shot right in the azz...
buzzsaw
Well said! maybe the Vikes will end up drafting a QB next year???? it could happen and probably should happen with Daunte possibly being out 12-18 months with no guarantee that he'll ever be 100% again. river rat316
You guys are all on crack.... eyah Smoot runs his mouth... yeah he got burnt last weekend.... badly.... I just want you guys to name one frickin NFL cornerback who could cover Steve Smith 1on1 There is no other cornerback that would have been left out on that Island all dam day long! That was the worst coaching blunder I have ever seen! They should have gotten him help after the first pass play to Smith, but they never did.... blame Smoot for running his mouth or whatever else you think he did, blame the coaching for Steve Smith's 200 yard performance! 2dalake
Amen to that. How long should it take for a coach to make an adjustment? I don't like the trash talking either, but the coaches hung him out to dry.
otto_man
Against the Packers Smith had 2 catches for 12 yards. I guess Al Harris can play a little...
Eric Wettschreck
I agree that Smith is great, adjustments should have been made, and Smoot needs to shut up. However, against the packers Driver ran all over Smoot. Against Cincy, what's his name burnt Smoot up and down the field. If he is as good as he says he is he needs to start puttin up or shuttin up. 8-Ball
I think the scouts dropped the ball on their eval and recommendation of Smoot. He sure as heck is not a shut down coverage man, and not worth 6 mil, either.. I predict and hope he is gone after this year. Did he only sign a 1 yr. deal? Man I hope so..
