OK Bobby-

I'll donate. What do you want to know?

I can tell you I've been spending more time in the Ice Fishing forum lately. Afterall, I did have to scrape frost off my windshield this morning. Guess what, I couldn't find my scraper? grin.gif I thought it was tucked under the back seat of my Sierra so I'd be prepared, but I guess it wasn't and I handled the situation the same way I did last fall- with lots & lots of windshield washer fluid!!!

The Grebe did post in the ice fishing forum that he had ice in his truck bed the other night. The seasons around here tend to revolve around when The Grebe finds 1st Ice! It may not be walkable but it is an indication of things to come.

Have a good one! Open Water season is nearing an end now. grin.gif

I'm happy 'cause I got two great bargains at work. A box of 23 asst deep cranks for $30, and about a years worth of walleye jigs for $16.

I've been working for the pawn shop for about six weeks and I've been in the top 5 sales people (out of 45 or so) for the past 3 weeks.

Sunday I'm going up to a favorite spot to river fish walleye & norts from shore with my 7 yr old son.

My 11 month old loves me to pieces. My 5 yr old daughter wants to ice fish this year. My wife is awesome and just gets better every day. I watched 'dodgeball' last night and I loved it! Very funny stuff! I'm gonna go sneak a handful of chocolate chips now.

Life is good in Aqualand.

Ok I'll bite on this topic. I am at the cabin in NW WI this weekend pulling out the lifts, boats and docks. Next weekend it off to punish the MN pheasants and the following weekend (plus a bunch of days) I'll be chasing Iowa pheasants (cannot tell you my secret public land spots..sorry) Then its off to MN deer & WI deer and then to catch and release a bunch of WI hard water walleyes in December.... Last year we were lucky enough to get 16 walleyes over 24 inches in two nights during a December full moon. All were released except a beautiful 30.5 incher that went 10lbs 9 oz. Cannot tell you that spot either!!!

Have I gven you any great tips or spots...No... But that's why they call it hunting & fishing and not catching & harvesting!!

I just had to add a post to the thread!!!

The next three+ months are the best of the year!!!

Good luck!!

I am sitting here looking at the puter screen cause I can't find anyone who wants to fish on the weekends down here. I don't like to fish by myself, but I would if gas wasn't so high. I can't see paying almost $3 a gal for gas to go catch 15 crappie and drive 240 mi round trip! This SUCKS! confused.gif

I have been stuck down in New Mexico for work for the past 10 days and I cannot wait to get home on Monday. I've been thinking about fishing more than anything and checking this forum daily has not helped that. Last night I had a dream that I caught a HUGE walleye, like unrealistically huge, but nobody would take a picture of me with it. No reason, they just didn't want to. It was a really frustrating dream but then I finally got my mom to take a picture. Then when I went to release it, the level of the lake was visibly getting lower. It was a strange dream but I think it means I'm going to catch a monster when I get home!

The better question in our household lately would be...how's harvest? I keep reading about how great fall fishing is, and I am getting anxious to get some time in. Maybe tomorrow? Seems like Sunday's are the only days we are together as a family during harvest, but maybe I can drag Hubby with me this time. smile.gif Sure would beat talking to him on the cell phone all day. He's hauling corn, I'm either in the tillage tractor, running errands, or being Mom. Love this time of year though!

B.B.....There are posts all over this forum by all kinds of people, from all different areas, about all kinds of different subjects! Donations from the length and width of our state and around the country.

There is a long list to choose from and if a person only donated 6 minutes of their writing time to 10 subjects... well you get the picture.

It's the same with charitable donations, one can't give to all of them and make a difference, you select one or two that you know will get the job done and donate to them. And, it's a fact, some folks are better readers then they are writers! To, not everyone is passionate about the same things we are!

Big picture, big picture...if we want more people on the site, we have to let them know it is here...not the ones that post, or the ones that read and run, they already know about it and they are going to do what they do, but others that don't know about the site, the neighbor, Jake at work, grandpa.

There are alot of older folks that don't know about computers and how to use them, I bet alot of the old timers have alot of interesting stories to tell and we could learn alot from them, but.....might be something there, teaching gramps how to use maybe one site on the computer, this one!

Well, I have to get on to some other areas and maybe make some other donations....some days I have more to give then on other days! smile.gif

Grebe points all well taken. but I think it's working. You posted as well as several others. We all tend to take for granted what everyone else is doing. Now we are reminded that it is harvest time out there, some are thinking about dance lessons and others are doing those tasks that have to get done sometime ( windows ) Which reminds me that I should add that to my honey do list.. Not everyone can write but everyone here is a reader and you come here to read. The more that is shared the more you might share and that how the ball gets started. You do your fair share of starting topics I am just looking to get the ball rolling in a somewhat slack time. Like right now I should be putting on the coveralls and climbing up on the shed roof and start roofing, All the heavy rain pointed out that it is time for replacement. But... I have a duty to check my posts Hahahah Have a good weekend and thanks for your post. Together we have killed a few moments for a FMer who needed something to do other then the Honey do list... cool.gif

Rereading this I would like to say that I would rather fill the stands with clapping people then just people there so I can say the stands are full. I have never seen an intense conversation between one person and a crowd of listners. Someone needs to speak..these are not fighting words just a thought. Which brings up a thought to me of grandpa sitting in the rocker telling us tails of "the good old days" we need more of those kind of stories cuz for us, right now might be the good old days for our kids...o-o that was kind of a deep thought ooo.gif

I would love to hear stories from grandpas. I don't remember who it was but someone posted some ice fishing pictures a week or two ago from when he was a little kid. Those were fun to look at and read about. I unfortunately don't think I have much for ice fishing pictures of when I was little. I will have to see if mom is up for digging through the chest of old pictures sometime.

As good here as anywhere I guess. My son and I went out duck hunting this morning, it was actually my opener as I was out of town last weekend. It is the first hunt that I went on since my dad died (he passed away a month ago) and it was joyous and hard at the same time. I love to speend time with my son but there used to be three of us there. I even made an extra meat loaf sandwich and brought it along for dad. It was a good hunt and the Gods of hunting allowed us to harvest 2 ducks! Had a lot of fun but sure did miss dad a lot! Take a moment tonight and let some one you love know how much they mean to you! As I so abruptly found out on Aug 30th you just never know when the last time is you will see them. Take care and N Joy the Hunt././Jimbo

Well, it's 4pm on one of the most beautiful days of the year and im on the computer. I should be hunting, fishing, scouting or something along those lines, but instead im spending some quality time with my wife before she is off to have a weekend with some girlfriends who are in from out of town. I will be out in the blind in the morning and up to the big pond fishing with some guys from work early monday morning. Tue I head back to work. Most of my time off is during the week so when I do get a weekend off I try as hard as I can to spend it with my wife. I do need to get as much fishing in as possible since my wife had to go and get pregnant with our first child smile.gif and the due date is just about next years fishing opener frown.gif. We were trying but I was not shooting for the fishing opener. Anyways, I do not post much here simply because I think the folks on this site know more than me. I will try more to put my .02 when I feel I have some info. Good luck to all and keep the posts coming.

What can I say.. these last two post point to the circle of life. Thank you both for sharing. I have had three fishing partners pass on in the last few years. Each year since I make a point of releasing a fish at the begining of the year in their name. I was out this year and did it and a friend I was with asked what I was doing. I explained the circle of life, he now does it to. Just wish I could figure a way to get more fish in the boat to celebrate a birth. Congrats and don't think of it as missing an opener but as a new partner to share opener with!..

Bobby Bass, I spend most of my time on the Upper Miss NaRth forum. But, I'll post some of my nonsense here for ya!

Beauty of a day here in the Show Me State.

I got to run the river awhile, cut some grass, and clean up the garage. Man life is great...

I've been spending most of my time in the duck blind.. some time at the dr office, a little time under the knife.. and a quick visit to the ER tonight to adress an infection.. hard to make too many post when catching an hour of sleep when you can.

Not too many people fishing, or talking about it... more people making preparations for the current, and coming hunting seasons.

It's 345 AM, why am I sittin' in front of the monitor looking at this post wanting donations? Maybe because I slammed a 20 oz. french vanilla cappucino and 2 dews right after that. Oh well, guess I'll pay for it tomorrow, wait, it is tomorrow. Oh dump!!!

Here's my latest news; my #3 son,AKA the gentle giant, came back from sturgeon fishing yesterday. He and a friend caught and released about 30 fish in 14 hours. One he caught was a personal best. It measured 63 inches and he said it was as big around as his thigh. He guesses the weight at about 55 to 60 pounds. When you see a picture of a weightlifter needing two hands to hold up a fish, its big.
