Power Pro - Spiderwire

I was looking at some spiderwire and was wondering how good that is compared to Power Pro? I use Power Pro exclusive now but do like to try new things too.

I went from Spiderwire to PowerPro....and never looked back.

I've never used spiderwire before thats why I was thinking bout spooling one of my extra reels with spiderwire to try out

Ditto what Valv said...the Power Pro is much more "user friendly". Wouldn't bother with the spider wire..

I too made the switch from spiderwire to powerpro.. and will not go back to Spiderwire! Power pro it is for me!

what issues did you have with the spiderwire? i still use it and have had no problems.

I agree with everyone, don't bother spooling up the spider.

Spider seems great if thats what you start with, but once you go PP you'll never go back. Spider seems like wire compared to PP.

mtreno-For me it freyed worse than many braid lines. I dont have that problem with powerpro- My theory is this.. if it works for you, stick with it! I am not trying to talk you out of spiderwire, its a good line. It didn't work well for me however!

Another Power Pro convert here! I used to use spider wire, gorilla braid etc. Now once I tried PP... That is what I use exclusively.

I still use mono in certain situations but if I use a braid or super line whatever you want to call it it is PP.

Any of you guys ever try that Tuff Line? Same exact stuff as PowerPro and quite a bit cheaper. I use it on my cattin rods.

I have both, 60# spider, 30# PP x3, and 10# PP. I can't think of anything bad to say about ether one. So I guess it's all good here and I don't know about the rest of you but as for me, my expectations are satisfied

I have not fished with power pro. I do though often fish with Tuff Line XP in both 30# and 50#. Has anyone fished both brands of line and have an opinion between them?

I agree with Power Pro. I have tried other brands but they didn't work as well as PP. Most my reels now have PP except for extra spools with mono that I use for slip-bobbering. The bobber stops don't hold well on PP.

Spiderwire is awful stuff. Tried it a couple times several years ago & hated it. Maybe I just rec'd a bad batch, but it looped up horribly after only a few weeks & broke readily.

With all the glowing reviews of PowerPro, I decided to put it on one of my bass rods, & while I love the way it casts, I'm not impressed with the toughness. I've broken off twice in the past three weeks since I put it on this one rod. Maybe it was just bad luck, but I might break off once or twice on all my rods with Fireline each summer.

I have used Spider Wire for the past 7-8 but plan on trying power pro soon. Based on what I have read I will probably be a convert also!

I really like Power Pro for trolling with baitcasters - great sensitivity. I've heard OK things about SpiderWire Stealth, too.

I use PowerPro pretty much solely. I did get spool of Spiderwire.....just haven't spooled it up yet. The diameters and strengths of Power Pro are just so much better to me. As for Mono........Gamma Technologies all the Way!

My wife got me a reel and had it spooled with toughline....I haven't had any problem with it. otherwise I switched from fireline to pp b/c it seems like the fireline product has gotten worse over the years...it frays more than ever now so I am done with it...never tried spider

Maximum what knot are you tying? Knots make a huge difference in the strength of the line a palomar or a "double"trilene knot seem to work the best and eliminate alot of the breakoffs

I use the Uni knot with my PP.. Never had a problem with it
