Pioneer Press reports Moss is traded

Guarantee you the Vikes will not be looking up at the Lions as long as we are all on this earth. tongue.gif Yah, we may have lost Moss, but there is no way they will be in the cellar. I'm kinda mad about the Moss trade, but, if they actually use their resources and add a free agent receiver and draft some good defense, I think we will be better than last year. grin.gif

T-Dog Jenkins,

A little off the subject but, I see your from Isanti. Did you happen to know the guy that passed away after hitting a phone pole on his snowmobile near Kettle River? I think they said he was 43 years old? Very sad!

Back to Football,

Some people say that trading Moss is big mistake like trading Babe Ruth or Jordan. Moss is great, but I don't think he belongs in the same catagory as some of the greatest sports players.

Sick of his attitude, sure. Love his abilities, absolutely. I think the whole team was sick of him and he wasn't a fit or a guy we need on our team. His antics get very old. On the other side of the coind we just traded the best reciever in history statistics wise through the first 7 years.

Napolean Harris is a decent linebacker which we need, and we can get a good player with a 7th pick overall. But I do think the Raiders got the better deal. We do need another reciever to offset the loss, but remember we still have Nate Burleson, he's no slouch fo sure.

He was a cancer to the Viks and the trade is the best radation treatment you can get. I feel that he brought the team down. If you ask me we got the better end of the deal. We got rid of him. Sure I was watching games and waiting for the bomb to Moss, but I feel without him the Viks are better off.

i have a sick feeling in my gut knowing that moss's career will be ressurected and it is going to be hard watching him torch other defenses for the next 8 years. maybe in good old vike's fashion they can go trade the rest of the team away for jerry rice or tim brown.

I have split feelings on the trade. On one side you get rid of the attitude and all the antics, and on the other they just got rid of the best reciever in the NFL and for what?

The Vikes got ripped off, But thank god for Daunte the true mvp of the team. Alot of people think we need a new reciever now. Why? Look at what the team did without Randy when he was hurt. Poor Randy I think his career will go down the drain now. Who the heck is the QB over there. I hope he proves me wrong.

As fun as it is to watch him.....he had to go. What is the last team to win a superbowl with one superstar? I guess the definition of superstar would come in to question. But really, can you name a superstar on the Pats. Brady, maybe. IF the superbowl is the main goal, it wouldn't have been done with him bringing the team down. This is a team game and TEAMS win.

Oh I yearn for the days of '80 gold. Not this overpayed whining dump.

Might have to start watching lacrosse wink.gif.

Napolean Harris has been considered to be a bit of a dissapointment from what I've been able to find out about him. John Clayton wrote a good article about this trade on ESPN.com where he basically said the guy is the same thing we already have at linebacker, athletic but young and mistake prone. NOT a leader to bring on to the D. His conclusion is this did little, if anything, to improve our defense.

WHAT HAPPENEND TO PHILLIP BUCHANON TALKS? I thought he was the guy we were supposed to get. We needed a good cover corner much worse than we need another underachieving middle linebacker. Regardless I would not have traded Moss...

Right, compared him to E.J Henderson, has some learning to do but has the ability to do so. He certianly will not solve all our problems, but I do like the direction the team is heading; more defensive minded. Remember the Super Bowl? Both teams got there because of defense.

Randy has sold alot of tickets for the Vikes, I think since 98 they have sold out every game. But he was becoming a cancer, I will miss him, but I will like winning more. I just hope that they pick up a big name in the secondary and another linebacker if possible. Maybe a new owner will get it done... crazy.gif

I totally agree we've always neglected our defense since the Denny Green era started, but my point is, why dismantle one of the two or three most potent offenses for somebody that probably doesn't even improve our defense. Besides, why do it at all when you are 20,000,000 below the cap and could have kept all the offense and still greatly improved the defense through free agency. Plus why are we keeping three backs and not trading one of them instead???

I know Randy's attitude is an issue, and if he and his teammates all wanted him traded (which we'll probably never know the whole story there) then something had to be done. I just don't think this was the deal to make...

I just spent the last hour reading post from a Raider forum and their fans hate the trade as much as Vikings fans do. Their main complaint was they let the wrong guy go. They wish the trade would have included Buchanon instead.

With both teams fans not liking what they are hearing maybe, just maybe this is a fair trade. Only time will tell

Now Tice and Co. need to have a good draft and not screw up again.

Lawdog,

The key about being under the salary cap is only valid if we have a owner who will spend it. If Red ends up with the team, which is still very much a possibility, that 20 mill. will never get spent anyway.

We were 8-8 with Moss this year, 9-7 last year and worse the year before that. I don't think we just threw away any title hopes with this trade. The title hopes will come through the draft and or free agency if we actually do anything with either.

Exactly the defense is what will win games in the nfl. The vikes have a great O and we have good players on O to step up for Moss, but picking up a good reciever in FA will assure that the reciever corps are ok. The vikes need linebackers and a cover corner along with a kicker. With numerous good corners in the draft dont be surprised if the vikes trade down to around thier other pick at 18 for more picks. This team is headed in the right direction with defense and with our O we will be just fine next year. But no body can replace Moss and he will be missed to strech the D and creating a decoy so we can run.

Ely- I feel that attitude is a big deal when it is ruining the chemistry of the team. The only thing that is bothering me about this trade is that we are getting rid of the best WR to play this game, but a radio station here in the citys had Matt Birk on and he pretty much said see ya later. And the comments that Daunte said before the pro bowl leads me to believe that he and the rest of the team isn't too upset that he is going. This makes it more exciting for the turn out of this next season.

We are 37 mil under the cap. There are a few good recievers free agents out there that will fill the void left by moss but with or without him if we do not get a better defense we will remain just the best team in the north.

I think this is a ploy to get Fowler to back out and get Taylor in the door, Taylor did not want a guy like moss on his team but he figures with 37 mil to sign free agents the #7 #18 picks in the draft Rosenthal, Birk, Irvin, Kliensasser, Bennet, Udezi not injured, this will be too easy.

All the sports "experts" on the radio and TV are saying the Vikings probably pulled off one of the best trades that has been made in football in many, many years. The Vikes got rid off a primadonna that had a long contract and could not be controlled because of it. He has a chronic bad ankle that has been a big problem for 7 years. He has a back problem and this year he came up with a ham string injury. Odds are he will go down with injuries in the next year or two that will wash him up.

The Vikes got a good defensive player and an early first round pick. This leaves the Vikes with two good first round picks this year. Of coarse last year the coaches could not even get their picks in before the bell but that's another problem to be fixed.

And you think this is a bad trade.

You guys just fell into believing all that Al Micheals junk about what a great man he is. They even tried to tell us he was such a great team leader he was. Talk about thinking the viewers are morons.

Nobody in the league but the raiders would have taken that jerk and Vikes are very much the better for it. If you gotta have a hero watch Shrek 2.

I'm not worried about their offense without Moss, Burleson and Robinson can handle the job. I'm worried that they could have got more for him. They need to firm up the defense and they need a reliable kicker.

Ty Law is available......don't they have some money to spend?

Ty Law would be awsome grab.

Doesn't bother me in the least bit to see Moss go away. Sure, he's good. He has the best (I think) early career numbers of any other reciever, he's fast, he can jump, he has pretty good hands......He's not Jesus Christ, he can't walk on water, he can't carry a team, he can't seem to get it through his head that it isn't all about Randy. When the offense is on the field he can't fathom the fact that there are 10 other players out there.

Oh sure, he may be a nice guy off camera, visits kids at hospitals, donates $$ to charity, blah, blah, blah...so are a lot of other player.

This team needs defense and a team attitude. Randy Moss is neither of those. See ya Randy. Oakland is the only team out there that even wanted ya.

The vikes are gonna need Ty Law to cover the now best WR in the NFC Nort-- Mushin Muhammad. Oh by the way the Bears released David Terrell today -- maybe the Vikes could pick him up. His bad attitude ought to fit right in. What turd that guy was.
