Talking 6"+ of snow for later today. Hopefully we don't loose our electricity from broken trees or wires. Predicting below 0 for the weekend. Minnesota the state with two seasons ? fishinphilth
Don't start with the global warming. The exact amount of the actual warming of the earth is on average .oo9 of a degree per year since the early 30's.
BigDaddy
Quote:See "Global Warming". I'm not sure if you are kidding, but Global Warming is a myth. Don't believe everything the left wing media says. The truth is out there. You just have to look.
BRULEDRIFTER
See "Global Climate Change". i feel this is a more accurate and p.c. term for our roller coaster weather patterns we now experience. get used to it! times'a changin'. i guess its time to move further north. hawkeye43
Please tell me where the old time winters are then? The kind that froze the ground the first week of Nov. and keep you by the wood stove to the middle of March. I am tired of this cold for a week, warm for 3 weeks
pikerliker
Big Daddy. Global warming is hardly a myth. It is real and it is happening. It has nothing to do with the left wing media. What would they have to gain from this "myth" if it really were made up? There are always normal fluctuations in climate i.e. warmer/colder winters than normal. But overall annual tempuratures are rising and it is affecting our climate. We need to do something about it instead of pretending it's not there before it causes too much damage to the wilds, lakes, etc that we all love to hunt and fish in. My two cents. ~piker
upnorth
There is no factual information saying that warming trend we are seeing is not a normal flucuation in the earths temp. The earths temp has never been static, it always changing. Why do we think that we can do something to make it stay the same? This global warming thing is only an unproven theory. fiskyknut
Not so sure about the global warming thing myself. Up here in the LOTW area it's mid 20's and snowing pretty good. Fished Morris point this afternoon and I'd say we got about 5-6 inches anyhow, and it's still coming down.fiskyknut
WILDEYES
It's just an on going science experiment out there...I don't know about you guys but I haven't had seen a Dinosaur lately. The Grebe
Oh, oh? I probably should have kept my yap shut! Just goofing around, don't want anyone to get their undies in a bunch...you can catch my take on GW in the Outdoor discussion and agenda thread...a "quirk of nature", hows that? Lost
Why turn this thread into an argument over whether or not something is fact or fiction? What I'm wondering is how this rain and these 40° temps are affecting the ice. Is it still going to be safe? Or do I have to wait for another week of freezing temps? viking_fan
Heck it hit 50 degress here in the metro at 5pm today.Unreal !!!!!!!!
The Grebe
Nah, in my opinion, it would take a he11 of alot more rain and warm weather then one days worth, to degrade the ice past the point of being able to walk out safely on it, but a guy might fall on his arse, even with cleats on (Unless they are the really good kind, which I don't own, just the cheapos). We had some cold weather and no snow, it made some good hard ice...alot of the lakes have people driving on them, especially further up north. I was on Ann on Tues. and I was driving my 4x4 Ranger Excab to the spots? There were some of the anglers in full sized trucks out there, must have been 12 to 14 inches of ice?Down here it should'nt hurt foot traffic, be that as it may though, I won't be doing any driving on any metro lakes until I see others doing it and we get some cold weather again! HoleHopper
Duffer, there will always be those that will run with the rederic and say that the sky is falling when something out of the ordinary happens that fits there political agenda. What really makes me laugh is when they think that mankind can stop mother nature from doing what she is going to do anyways even if it is a myth! This is poor timeing on her part thou. Sure hope that there isnt 4 inches of water on top of the ice by this weekend.
hanson
You guys just have to drive 4-5 hours north and you'll be content. I made the trip up to my parents place last night in the fog/rain/ice/yuck to wake up this morning to 20-30 mph winds from the northwest, 6 inches of snow last night with 4" more on they way, and 6 degree air temp outside right now. Talk about a night & day difference in weather. I was planning on pulling the permanent up to Red Lake tomorrow morning but with that wind and the ice on the roads, its looking pretty bleak right now.
