The new forum is fine.

Whats the difference between fishing MN family and fishing hotbites family?

I'm so used to the old forum that I'm having trouble adjusting to this new format. But like all things, some time is all it takes to get used to it. One thing I do like is the options for UBB Code being just a click below. Same with font color. On the negative side, the overall colors of the new format bother my eyes a bit. I prefered the overall coloring in the old format.

I have a question for you. What is up with all the quotes? I have already read the statement once what is the need to have to keep reading the same thing over and over again. I have a great time with anything that has to do with fishing minnesota and always will. I'm sure that I'm not the only one somewhat new to computers and how things work. So I hope you folks would keep that in mind with any new changes. Just a thought.

The quoting feature is for say "if I wanted to answer you directly" then I would quote what you said OR if I wanted to answer a specific question then I would / should quote what you asked me so that the general audience knows who I was responding to

the yellow stars is just a rating system. 0-5, 5 being the highest. You can ask Rick to explain more of that.

What have you done with the best page on the net. It seems someone just can't leave things alone when they aren't broke. It wouldn't be so bad if someone would let you know the how and why of it all. This really sucks.

Rick: Can you make the reply box larger and the type face bolder too. These old eyes have to squint and the scroll in this little box is difficult when you want to re-read your post. You have a lot of white space around this box that is not utilized. Small type in a cramped area will increase spelling errors. The other features will take time to become familiar with. Too many bells and whistles may scare some people off. I like the KISS method, KEEP IT SIMPLE FOR STUPID.... Just my thoughts... Kaz

I am adjusting to the new forum, and I'm sure that it will become second nature soon. That being said, I will admit to find it frustrating having to log in each time the new site has come up. I changed my password last time, and it wasn't recognized this time around

Other than that, this site is still my favorite, and I'm sure it will continue to be. Thanks to ALL who have a hand in that...

Hi Bob, Thanks for posting again. I was rushing through dealing with e-mails and phone calls earlier and missed that part. I didn't pay attention. I'm sorry about that. If I offended you, and I suspect I did, I'm sorry as well. Anyway, I really don't know what kind of problems PMs would cause for sure. We were trying to speed the forums up and the PM if used by a huge amount of folks could possibly stretch our resources. I just don't know and I don't want to take the risk.

Perhaps this explanation will put some perspective into things.

Being that this forum has so much traffic at any given time, 200+ users and 300+ anonymous users browsing etc. PM's will stress the server and its resources thus, response time will be alot slower.

I did not get an answer to my question. Let me clear things up. If you quoting to answer my question that's great. If your quoting just to use the quote button I think you're making things more of a pain in the back side then they need to be. Some could even think you are talking down to them. I'm not saying that has happened I just want people to think about it. I said before I think fishing minnesota is great and so is everyone I've met or fished with. You have to try and keep things simple for those of use with less skill both in fishing and computers. Lets all think happy thoughts . Just my 2 cents.

I'm with the people who say it will take some getting used to, but it will be really good. It definitely seems faster.

Suggestion: for the next few weeks, create a "questions about the new format" forum (if one of you is willling to monitor it).

Anyway, it's still a great site.

The personalization of the posting is a big enhancement. It will take some time to decide on the correct avatar. This site has grown from the few fishing areas covered in the way back days of the early 21st century. As long as we can still exchange the good information and entertainment that has been the staple of FishingMinnesota from the start, the eye candy is just a bonus.

The old format was quicker and easier to use. I am not a computer expert. Keep it simple. It wasn't broke, why did you want to fix it?

I like the new layout. I think it will take a little while to get used to it, but after that it will be hard to even think about the old format. Keep up the good work.

I was more referring to bandwidth issues - that is the reason I was given for no PM's anyway... Plus, we want to encourage people to post openly so that everyone can benefit!

I didn't care for the change at 1st but it is already growing on me. Once you figure a few new things out then it gets much better. One question I have though is I am unable to get into the forum section directly after logging in. Am I missing something or do you have to go to a different section and then click on forums? Does this make any sense???

When you 1st log in. Put a check mark in the box that says remember me. Once you get logged in, press F5 or the refresh button on your browser for your new forum cookies to take effect.
