This time of year you can get pretty up-close and personal with Fur seals on the beach. Torrey Pines, just a little bit further up the coast has some awesome trails to hike as well. USS Midway is a must if you're at all a history and/or airplane geek like me. HAVE FUN! Those are harbor seals, and there are sea lions at the cove that you can get as close to as you dare... Torrey Pines state reserve is awesome. And visit the cross on Mt Soledad... Great views and many interesting memorial plaques for military veterans. Also many great breweries in San Diego, especially for hops fans. Dotch, I hope you survived all that red I see on the Wundermap radar....... Looks like it heading our way. Dotch
Tinctures are always a plus bobber no matter what you're trying to accomplish. If it doesn't work on them, at least you're still having a good time! San Diego and La Jolla sound like a fine place to be about January. We're fine over this direction Del. The tornado was north of us and haven't heard any reports of damage. Looked like the storm lost its punch pretty fast. Was a little ominous here at first but with a few cold ones under my belt, it was nothing to sweat. Besides,by the time it was through we were noshing rhubarb pie and ice cream. Now I gotta make some sauce! Well, not tonight yet but the next chance I get. LindellProStaf, bobberineyes and reinhard1

leechlake
Ma Nature threw a great show last night starting about 8pm. It was really cool to watch. The radar looked pretty interesting and I didn't get why there were no channels breaking in with weather. We made our son stay at a friends house for a while instead of coming home and the weatherman is snoozing on the job preparing for a 2 inch snowfall in December? I'm starting to think there's something to this weather stuff that isn't just about making money or the weather. Could be as simple as last night being the local weather awards at some hotel. "Weatherman" of the year must be a highly coveted award. As far as I'm concerned they could give out only "Participation" awards and a handful of "Most Improved" awards if they finally wanted to be accurate. My rain coffee cup had an inch at about 4pm yesterday when I emptied it. I'm not checking it until I accomplish a few tasks this morning. Big reward huh? roony
One of my cousins spotted a tornado just a couple miles southeast of me. I saw a picture of that one on channel 11s page. I haven't heard of any damage though. reinhard1, LindellProStaf and Dotch

Popular Post reinhard1
Good Morning. Ya I seen that system coming our way last night. Then I heard it coming from a distance. Must of gotten a bit weak by the time it reached us. We did get some rain but just the normal rumbles of thunder and lightning. Saw on the news that two houses got hit by lightning the day before and one burned down and the neighbors was damaged by fire as well. Worst job for a weather man is up in Duluth. I forget the guy's name when I lived up there but he would admit on air that after he gave his forcast that it was his best guess. They say Chicago is the air-conditioned city, but I think Duluth deserves that title as well. I don't think my parents every owned a air conditioner and still don't. The big lake is all you need. Well going to take out some butts for some swill brats I'm going to make with high temp swiss cheese. good luck. bobberineyes, Boar, LindellProStaf and 2 others

LindellProStaf
Good morning. Raining here. Windy as heck too. Good day to do some inside jobs. So LL I see your neighbor Ashley in Medina lost 85 lbs using the Seattle Sutton program. I see her every morning on CCO TV. I suppose that reduced her bra size a bit. Made some ground pork with garlic burgers on the grill the other day. Man did they turn out great. That is my lunch today. The chicken I smomed yesterday turned out great too. Better than the Wild game anyhow. I only watched the first period. Sounds like it did get good for awhile in the third. Oh well I am a football fan #1 anyways. I heard on the TV that the waves are 10' on Superior today. I keep telling the wife that I would love to go get a room right on the water sometime when that happens and check it out. Sounds fun to me. I entertain easily. Sure wish I would have gotten my oats down before this rain hit. Will have to wait till this next weekend now. It is not completely sunny where they will be planted neither so I hope they still come up. As a matter of fact it is shady but should get good sun in the morning. I will get a 5 gal pail of oats or two from a farmer I know here. Well gotta go. Good talking at you all. Say hi to Ashley.... bobberineyes, Dotch and reinhard1
Popular Post Dotch
After cheating death once again, I went to the office. In Bugtussle there were trees down here and there with lots of shingles, branches, leaves and other assorted debris in the streets. Every trampoline in town was upended so the kids will be antsy for mom and dad to get them back online. Some building sites by those who had ridge till fields where folks were picking the corn stalks out of their yards. At the ranch there was very little sign it had been windy. Some claims of funnel clouds here and there but saw nothing of the kind. Was too busy trying to avoid taking off with the grill cover. "Oh look honey, looks like a small hot air balloon that says "Weber" on it with some guy hanging on for dear life cussing and swearing that he never gets any help." Got my blood draw done although it was a little unexpected. The gal had led me to believe they wouldn't be drawing until next week due to some other stuff I was getting checked out. I had fasted anyway so at least I was crabby. All in all not a big deal. Just laying the groundwork for the butt scope next month some time. Should be interesting to see what the HDL/LDL/Triglyceride readings are. I fully expect to hear: "Mr. Bernard, it appears you have been eating too much lamb, prime rib, rhubarb pie and Schwan's ice cream as well as drinking too much juniper berry extract and tincture. How you are still alive we really don't know. You are indeed a marvel of modern science. Keep up the good work". smurfy, LindellProStaf, JP Z and 4 others
leechlake
I don't think I know Ashley. Trampoline? Under complete protest by me we got one three years ago. One rule by me and that was after I nearly cut fingers off installing it they had to anchor it. Still isn't done. It ended up in the pond one day and I had to get it out which isn't easy. We have a huge picture window that the tramp has its eye on for sure. When it comes through that window I will be moving out and won't even pack a bag. Dotch-. I've been to the doctor three times since I quit boozin'. Zero times have they asked me that question they always asked regarding how much I consumed. It's a complete disappointment. Dotch
No doubt about those trampolines being weapons of mass destruction. Strikes me as odd with all of them in town they haven't been banned due to all the stuff they've wrecked over the years. That and if your liability insurance co. finds out you have one how anyone could afford to keep it. The Mayo system is famous for wanting to know about all your vices and they routinely ask the same questions every time. I try to remember the same relative version of the truth every time. Think I mentioned before the last time they checked my blood that I'd been through a period of some pretty serious consumption. Lambing season sucked last year. They were amazed at how low my numbers were so I figured I must not have been drinking enough prior to that. That or they got my sample mixed up with some nun. "Oh by the way, your sample also showed you're menopausal. Something you care to share with us Mr. Bernard? Dotch
Normally I am able to set the draws up a few weeks in advance but there were some extenuating circumstances shall we say. leechlake
there are some benefits to not drinking. There are also zero benefits in other capacities. For example the wife will just raise her expectations of you. You become the perpetual designated driver, novelty wears off in about two months. Ever driven drunk people around? They aren't that funny and talk abnormally loud. If she claims you'd get more action if you didn't drink, not true. Action stays the same except sometimes you're the one smelling the booze breath. Not that it's a good idea but after a few belts it's easier to vent and sometimes let loose with a few things you'd otherwise be self conscious to say. When your 100% sober for months or years when you say the same thing you sound like a lunatic. You end up "bottling" those things up and next thing you're typing them on a hunting and fishing "blog". That's weird. I'm also concerned that I will continue to go to the doctor and he will never ask me how much I drink. Then I will get hit by a bus and wake up three days later with a yellow bracelet on my wrist that says "addiction problem" that the wife told the hospital about. The whole thing could be a Seinfeld episode. JP Z, bobberineyes, LindellProStaf and 1 other

Jim Almquist
I should have added that the buoy is out about 6-8 miles. The waves only get bigger when the wind is from the east. It is also why it is so cold in Carton until the lake warms up a bit. 12 hours ago, RebelSS said: Thanks, Jim! Boy, are they ever!!!! Been watching off and on all day. UNREAL!!!
