eyeguy 54
Saw this on FB and it worked great. take a tack and poke a small hole in one end of the egg. Then my normal drop into slow boiling water for 9 minutes. Then let sit in hot water 10 minutes. Then rinse in cold water and the peeling zipped off great. Did 3. Kidd
How do people come up with this stuff. What would make someone try sticking a pin into an egg in the first place?Anyway, thanks for the tip, peeling hard boiled eggs has always been a pain for me. I'll have to give this a try. nofishfisherman
I prefer to boil eggs using the microwave. Just put them in a bowl of water and turn the microwave on high for several minutes.Truth be told it doesn't work worth a lick to cook the eggs but you do get to watch the eggs explode and blow the microwave door open. No need to peel them at all after they go boom. One of my college roommates figured this out the hard way. He is probably the smartest guy I know (perfect ACT and SAT scores, 4.0 GPA all the way through school, and now he's a doctor) but he still blew the door off of the microwave trying to hard boil a couple eggs and I'll be darned if I'll let him forget it. leech~~
McGurk
I just read about this myself this weekend, but haven't tried it. I read that you need to poke the center of the "round" end and not the "pointed" end as that is where the air bubble is located inside. I'll make sure to try that on the next 18 I boil! Also, that is the exact way I boil my eggs, too, except for the second half which I let them rest 8 minutes in the water off of the burner. Into an ice water bath and good to go! eyeguy 54
yepper, the round end. I smoke a lot of eggs and this really worked slick. 6 minutes to 8 is perfect sitting in the hot water. Never have used ice. I just fill the pan a couple times with cold water and good to go. Don't know who tried it first and don't care. Just happy that it works. Whoaru99
I always start with the eggs in cool water. Bring to boil, remove from heat, let stand 12 min, then cool in cold water.

DonBo
So, do you have to peel them right away, or can you toss 'em in the fridge till you're ready to eat them?
eyeguy 54
Should be fine after in the fridge. Test and tell us. I usually peel them right away then into a storage bag in the fridge.
DonBo
The first "test egg" peeled super easy, better than hoped for. Gonna do a few more right now as long as the smoker is already going. Quick question eyeguy, how long do you leave them in the smoker?
eyeguy 54
I like about 45 minutes at 150 or so. but on eggs i start it cold. if hot maybe a bit shorter. tough to mess up an egg, they are good with a little smoke or a lot.
