Next years draft?

Labs, I know we need all new coaches, but you cant draft them. As for tackles, they may not be perfect, but I think after addressing Center, and QB, I think the Vikes need to address the defense at that point. I think offensive our front line is capable of average blocking, if they had coaches to teach them, and a QB, that knows how to play. We could use an entire new team, but we can only address so many things in one year.

Top priority is QB, after that, I would draft depending on the strength of the needed postion that is still available, and how deep the needed positions are in the draft.

Offense main priorities, other then coaches, QB, center.

Defense, DE, LB, CB, then work on guards.

Time to actually draft a real starter and use him for 10 years. Not reach in the draft, not take a sleeper from Podunck Univerisity, not taking a primarily rushing QB... but a real bonifide QB

There record of drafting a QB has been dismal... all I can say is:

Good Luck!

Ken

Agree the goal would be to draft a franchise guy, but I am not convinced this guy exists in the current draft. There seems to be a lot of overall talent, but I dont see anyone close to Andrew Luck type caliber. If we are picking in the top 5 (which is HIGHLY likely), I am not sure that pick is best used on one of those guys. Possibly trade down, accumulate more picks and draft one in the late first round. IDK, but there isnt a single one of these QB's that I think can be plugged in day 1 and be counted on for 10 years.

Those guys are few and very far between and they dont always come from a first round pick either.

Before selling out and drafting a QB with our first pick, I would want to know what the free agent market looks like at QB.

Not sure I am sold on Clowney. Havent seen him play much, but there sure is a ton of hype around him.

There should be several QBs to draft this year that go well into the 2nd round. I am not completely sure that any of the predicted top draft pics at that position are game changers like Andrew Luck, so I would be more apt to spend a high first rounder on something else like D line or secondary/LB.

AGREE!

I dont wanna be FORCED to take a QB no matter what in the first round. If the RIGHT one is there then do it. I would much rather draft one then go FA, but like Captain said there are going to be legitimate QB's available after the first round in this years draft. We FORCED a qb in the first rd with Christian Blunder and look how it turned out. Caepernick and Russel Wilson were both SECOND rd picks if i remember right. You don't HAVE to take a QB in the first rd if there is a better option available in that spot for the defense, hopefully the best MLB imo. We need to take a QB but it has to be the right QB, DONT FORCE IT!!!!!!!!!!

There are a lot of mid level QBs, nobody is really an eye opener. I think we would be able to snag one later in the 1st, maybe trade around to end up with 2 1st rounders? I just think you guys are wanting to make a stretch on a QB that may not pan out. I think trading down would be our best bet on building and taking an Andy Murray like guy in the 2nd round. We desperately need a CB, MLB, and OG as well as a QB. But beyond any player we need a coaching staff more than anything.

The 2 names i like best right now are AJ McCarren from Alabama and i hate to say it, but Jonny Football. I hate the his attitude but he can flat out play. Sure ill probably get bashed for it but id take Jonny Football over Teddy Bridge any day.

McCarren you could get later in the first, early second maybe??? He's got a strong arm and throws a $$$ deep ball and is more the pocket passer. I think despite his "issues" Jonny football is going to go in the top 10.

How far do you think AJ McCarron might fall?

I like his work and if we could get him early in the 2nd round, that would be cool!

Hoping they hype up Bridgewater, Boyd and Manziel so much, that McCarron falls.

If he did, I guess we would probably mess that up too.

I hate both those picks. Bama QBs are typically products of the system and dont cut it in the big leagues. I see AJ as the same type of player, no way he is going 1st or 2nd round. Manziel, he is not going to transition into a good NFL QB, he has the best o-line in the nation and probably the best WR in the nation as well. He has speed and quickness and a decent arm but the NFL game is going to move way too fast for his little arched back move.

After this season, the Vikings will be in no position to compete in the NFC North title. We will likely lose Jared Allen and Kevin Williams along with key expiring contracts in Simpson, Chris Cook, and Gerhart. It'll be the right time to rebuild and if Freeman has nothing to show for at the end of the season, I'll be willing to bet, we're going to draft a QB in the first round. Marcus Mariota!!

who do you like then juice? Bridgewater and the oregon QB(forget his name) are "system" qb's. I don't really see McCarron as a system QB in the least. And he plays the best competition in college football every week. Same as Jonny Football

AJ McCarron reminds me of Greg McElroy--led them to an undefeated season and a BCS championship. How's he doing in the NFl--oh yeah he's on the practice squad for the Bengals. We need a QB, another safety to pair with Harrison Smith, another CB--Chris Cook is injury prone and isn't that good period!

I was liking Hundley but his last few games have been iffy. He's got size, speed, and a pretty good arm and also has bailed his team out of a few losses single handedly. Murray is ok, but I'm not sold quite yet, I'm still trying to find a legit 1st rounder out there. Whoever we get we need a coach to coach him up. That's the down fall. I'll add Boyd to my list of dislikes too, he's got Akili Smith written all over him. Boys, we are in a pretty bad situation anyway you look at it, personnel and coaching. Not just now but what we got going on here is going to a while to correct, a few years.

I agree with most of you that there isn't a for sure #1 quarterback out there.

Since your taking a chance at that position, I would rather draft a sure stud at their position with our first pick. O-line, D-line or linebacker. Then try a quarterback. Chances are we will screw that pick up anyway. It's not a good way to look at it but let's be honest, at least we would have a good first pick.

Anyone like Hogan from Stanford? Not sure he will come out. Not sold on Marioti. Have some respect for Aaron Murray from Georgia. Some games left to evaluate these guys. Wouldn't mind a trade down to mid-late first round to pick up our guy, whomever that may be.

Have not seen Hogan play yet... But i do know there isn't much defense in the pac 10, ever.

Trading down is going to be the vikings best bet i think, i agree with you there.... IF we are in the top 3 or 4 picks. There really isn't a qb that any team should wanna tank unpurpose for IMO

I think the biggest determining factor as to what QB gets drafted is who the head coach is going to be. Hopefully it won't be Fraiser again, or it won't matter who we draft. Kid is doomed. Get a good head coach and have him bring in an excellent QB coach and it will make a world of difference. Jay Gruden from Cinci would be an excellent choice. Whatever QB they take, hope he can throw the 20 yard plus pass with some zip. With Patterson and Jennings we have the threats outside if we have a QB that can get the ball to them. That opens up AP. QB with the first pick and DL and CB with the rest. Cook and Robinson should be cut. Robinson before Cook tho. That guy gets burned on EVERY pass play thrown his way.

#1 need is a new staff. I think we can all agree on that. I know QB is #2 but I don't see anybody out there that warrants a 1-10 pick, 1-20 even. I think if we end up with a low pick we package something to get 2 1st's and take a QB and a CB. Then we go out and pick up a veteran MLB, not sure who's out there but this D needs a leader in the middle and you won't get that from a rookie. Next is an OG, if we get a solid guard in here imagine how much better AP would be on those draws that he always has to bounce outside and how much better a pocket would form for whoever is slinging it. OGs usually don't go until 2nd rd or early 3rd, we need to get one with that pick. I think we've put too much into our D line to burn a 1st, 2nd or even 3rd round pick on. I don't think the players are the problem there I think it's our lack of pressure schemes. We're running a D that puts our LBs back in coverage but nobody can cover so it doesn't even matter. If we ran more blitz packages we'd have an easier time covering the WRs.

    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.

    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
