You would have a good laugh if someone took a dump on your land? OK?... Personally not funny to me. Very selfish and disrespectful not to mention illegal. If the guy was having an emergency and couldn't hold it fine, but at least find somewhere out in the trees and not right under this guys poor nose next to his house!!

Now thats what I would call a Kodak moment. I bet he would have gladly paid you for that snapshot once you told him the sheriff was in the bidding.

Now running down after him to either to laugh and point or threaten him is an opportunity lost as you have Zero chance of scaring the "you know what" out of him at that point. But all is not lost, as I would insist he take home his trophy as a consolation prize.

If you think this might attract others to the same activity, you might want to post a sign "If you need to have a movement, then keep on moving!"

Good luck to you sir, and your fertile land. blush

Worked up?- I don't know about that... But I did consider how much of a kodak moment it would be if I saw him 'dumping' from my window, and then let a couple of my dogs out the door. Nothing like being caught with your pants down, and having a couple barking, growling hounds coming right at ya. Just sayin'...

Holy Ceeerap guys. It's biodegradable and sometime you just got to go! Everyone with a Hole has got 2 go! By your place and on your front yard are two different things! Cut him some slack, you don't know how many Beers and how much Chili he had last night! full-27051-34622-majorreaction.gif

If he dumped one in the woods in a unused area it would be no big deal to me. It would be an entirely different matter if he dumped one in my yard, swimming beach or dock.

Personally I don't see how a person who spends a lot of time fishing, hunting or in the outdoors in general hasn't pinched one off on someone's private property.

Keep in mind this is a rural lake with only 2 or 3 houses on the whole lake. In my opinion he didn't need to go right by my house.

Thoughts?

Curious how close it was to your house. The picture in my mind is he might've been on your property but maybe in a wooded/brushy spot. With few houses on the lake, I'm guessing he didn't pick the yard, or hopefully not close to it. If he did, no way did you overreact.

But seriously, if it was a wooded part, what's the big deal? Tell him it's private property and you don't want him blowing foul on it. Tell him to take his paper - if he had any. It's just gonna be re-used by nature anyway like deer, coon, bear, fox, coyote, [PoorWordUsage] is.

Did the access have a Biff? If not, there's been a lot more deuces dropped on land around there than you know. I'd prefer that over dropping in the lake.

Much bigger fish to fry, IMO.

4 pages into this .... would the OP answer the ? thats been asked a couple times (and should have been asked first thing...) How close to your house?

Personally, Living rural and having a cabin on a semi-wild piece of riverfront, to me it makes all the difference here. Assumming he wasn't actually ON your lawn/cleared space, if it was in a wild/wooded section a ways away, I say no harm no foul. And sometimes accessibility of shoreline, weedbeds, etc...dictate where one can land a boat to take care of business. So...??

Obviously everyone has thier own "comfort zone" for this sort of thing, but if you're on a public forum asking for comment at least give us enough pertinent information to make an informed response.

Of course, you've already gotten 4 pages of responses from guys willing to make a judgement without having the facts...

I read it the first time. In a rural setting "right by my house" has a lot of latitude. Not looking for an exact measurment or anything:)

It's just that it does matter if it was a stones throw away or if he's got 1000 feet of shoreline and theres really no way to tell it's private property. I have 12 acres on a riverbend and if someone pulled in on it somewhere to go I might not be too keen on it but it's undeveloped, unposted, and i sure wouldn't be calling the sheriff over it, or sicking the dogs on a guy, jeez.

And it does matter whether there were other reasonable options for a boat to pull over...as someone said, "everybody has to go".

I see a boat going really close to my shoreline.

First off it isn't "YOUR" shoreline is lake shore public property.

Secondly I'm quite sure the guy was probably in dire straights or he'd

of chose another place to do his business, lighten up the load Dude!! crazy

An emergency for that guy who dumped, is not an emergency for the OP. How about preplanning the boating trip by bringing a 5 gallon bucket with a plastic bag for emergencies. Or maybe take care of the 'dump' before you go out on the water. Or don't eat a half dozen spicy burritos, and drink a six pack of swill beer, the night before you go boating. As some here are advocating, if it's okay for some guy to take a dump in this case posted by the OP,then it's okay for someone to go up to the front door/porch/steps of your house, and dump a load, right? Funny, there are laws against doing that in some, if not most locales,as I recall. Some here are saying a few replies are 'overreacting', because they would do the exact same thing. Not cool. The lack of respect shown for property rights in this thread, is disturbing. But it's like a lot of other threads here that are started about trespassing, and some folks leaving a mess for others to clean up, out in the field.

I'll remember to abstain from alcoholic beverages tonight. Forgo dinner with any spices and make sure I only eat a high fiber organic meal tonight, because I'm going boating tomorrow confused

Reread the original post traveler, he said "right by my house". Pretty straight forward to me.

Yeah, right by my house. Only four blocks off of Main Street. grin

Straight Forward?

I wouldn't of done anything in this case. Call of the wild!

I guess I would just be glad he did not go on the dock or walk path and did not ruin or steal anything. Then I would have to break away from my own life having fun and ruin part of my day.
