randerson
I have in the past just used Amsoil oil in my augers and have not had any issues but now the ethanol fuels I need to do some thing else So do you run yours dry?Add seafoam? What do you suggest.I have a old MAG 3 and that thing has never had a problem but my Lazer seems to be more finicky
RIPN LIPS
old jiffy model 30..No prep, hang it in the shed after the season. Pull it out in the fall and she starts on the second pull every time.
toughguy
Hey now. We still have a few weeks to go before we should start talking about this sort of thing. I add stabil run it through and hang her up. Then I start it 2-3 times in the summer to freak out the neighbors and keep the gum out of the carb. Some people will say run it dry and leave it for the year. I'm not sure either method is wrong. Redlineracer12
I plan on charging my battery and putting it away, no other prep required
OnAFly
I run it dry then put a little seafoam in it and pull a few times to get it through the system...but that's weeks off from now.
hovermn
Charge the battery, check the blades for nicks. Put away for the season. For the gas powerhead, which hasn't been used for around 4 yrs, I drain the gas, run dry with a bit of seafoam mixed in, remove the plug and fog with fogging oil. Replace the plug and wait until next season. Starts 1st to 2nd pull every time.
Early Riser
Just run non oxy gas mixed with a bit of seafoam and a high quality oil –like Stihl 2 cycle, Put away in the shed and don't think about it until after deer season. Been doing this for past 10 years with all my chainsaws, snowmobiles, ATV, tiller, lawnmowers, outboards, and all other small engines - never a problem and so easy! Eric_Kruger
im the opposite, tank full of non oxy, stabil, and amsoil mixed. Hang it on the wall, start it every saturday and listen to it purr. wait for the ice to come back while cursing the heat and humidity... randerson
I have heard that NON-OXY is only good for about 30 days after pumping meaning you have no Idea of how long its been in the ground tanks. I'm gonna just add a bit of sea-foam and stabil to mast last couple tanks and store
NKLCOLT1911
i just put seafoam on the tank and fru it dry fog the cylinder and stick it in the corner for the year and make room for the boat
TruthWalleyes
old jiffy model 30..No prep, hang it in the shed after the season. Pull it out in the fall and she starts on the second pull every time. Same method here, worked for my older eskimo, I'll do the same with my new strikemaster this year.
dan z
Run some seafoam through the last tank. Fill er up and pull the cord a few times through out the "off season"
Gissert
Seafoam in the gas, then run it til warm. Apply a little throttle while spraying some fogging oil in the intake until it kills the engine. I then dump out whatever gas remains in the tank and call it good.
Feathers Rainin
Empty all the gas. Run it till it dies then pump the bulb and/or choke it and keep pulling until it won't even fire. I talked to some small engine guys who told me this is the only way to go. They say they clean a lot of carbs and do a lot of tune ups that would not be needed it folks did this before putting it away. Seafoam and stable help but you are better off getting everything out if it is going to sit for awhile according to the experts. That fat lady hasn't sang yet. The best fishing is yet to come. bassinboy3
Drain the gas out of my solo, refil in the fall and fire it up...
Esox_Magnum
Nils/Tanaka, hang it in the garage and start and run it a few times over the sumnmer....
Selmer
I do the "run dry, pump the bulb" technique with sea foam mixed in all the gas I run. Haven't had a problem yet, the auger is over 20 years old, heavy Jiffy.
fishingstar
had my mag 3 for 24 years. dump out the gas and run it dry1 carb kit in 24 years works for meDan
Stringerless!
Same as rippnlips. Model 30. 25 years old at least. Maybe 30. Chuck it in the corner. Done. Starts on 2nd pull following winter.
pathogen
ditto.
highlife4me
I run a little seafoam in my auger the entire season. When season is over I just hang it up in the garage. Usually in the middle of July on a hot summer night and the fridge is about out of beer I remember I better start my auger and let her rip for a few minutes. Northlander
I run amsoil and fill it up and the end of the year with amsoil/premium gas mix along with some stabil. Never had any issues ever doing it this way. No matter what type auger I had. Same with snowblower and lawn mowers.

Jim Almquist
Nils/Tanaka, hang it in the garage and start and run it a few times over the sumnmer.... Pretty much the same thing I do for my summer prep. If I am in the garage messing around I will fire it up and run it for a couple of minutes. leechlake
I always have gone with the abuse the auger method, basically doing nothing. Generally every three years with that method I run into issues with it running like I want it to.after D Rock fixed my strikemaster last week the tech brought me outside with my auger and gave me these directions for it never to go back there for carb cleaning: 1. start and run for a minute and then turn it off2. dump out gas3. restart and run until it dies4. try to start it a few times5. choke it and try to start it, it may fire up for a second6. choke it and pull 5 times to burn the rest of the gas7. go golfing or prepare for Walleye Opener
