mmeyer
I have a Coleman Dual fuel lantern and I haven't used it the last couple of years but it seems like a waste to buy a different light when I have that one sitting in my garage. Does anyone use one anymore? It it possible to hang it in a flip over house or would that cause disaster for my canvas? Any other tips?ThanksMike
hydro
I still use mine, and have an "S" hook on the top bar of my flip house that it hangs on. If it's not too cold it works as a heater as well.
magnum mike
They offer both heat & light. Keep it a safe distance away from anything hat might burn or melt. Put it outside to cool off before you pack up. If you are careful you'll be fine.
eyedr
I use one too, for the reasons mentioned above. It throws heat and light and that sob is bright as well.

i'majigger
I have a coleman single mantle that I have used for about 35yrs. This is the only thing that I use in my flipover clam for heat and lights. I tried the coleman on the 1 lb. bottle but I did not like it, it did not seem to give off as much heat. Big-Al
I still have two of them but don't use them nearly like I used to. I find I really have to vent the otter well when I use them because of the fumes. The new generation electric lights are making them obsolete for me I think. MJ1657
I have not used my dual fuel for awhile now. I've never used it but I have a deal that you put on the lantern that helps reflect heat out to the side and it holds more heat.I used the style that uses 1 pound propane cylinder for tracking a deer a couple weeks ago. Dave
Look at Wally World or the Big M store for one foot long S hooks, used to hang flower pots. Those hang the lantern low enough in the portable quite well.
mmeyer
Thanks for the replies everyone. I'll be getting one of those S hooks. I'm happy to be able to save a little cash and use what I have.Good luck fishing everyone!
Tom7227
Uh, couldn't you make one of those hooks in about 2 minutes out in the garage?
otterman91105
I still use the dual burner gas lantern. At the ice fishing show they had lots of led lights. Has anyone had much luck with those lights or are they a pain cause you have to have a battery? I like that S hook idea keeps it away from the top of the house. fishersofmen
The led lights are great. Alot less of a pain than any lantern I've ever used. I use an extra vex battery so it is small and hassel free and easy to charge.
herefish101
I use LED lights but i always have the lantern (with extra mantels) along with me. I have had my batteries die on me and the o'l lantern comes in pretty handy at that point.

Crappyfisherman
They work great if you don't mind the fums and broken mantels. Just remember don't grab the handle when its been hanging for a while,Very very HOT!!!

workin4bait
I use mine all the time for heat and light. I always put mine in a 5 gallon bucket,it keeps the heat focused and cuts down the light which I feel is brighter than I like.Workin'
JeffB
It seems like the dual fuel lantern and dual fuel cookstove work better as far as fumes using E-85 for me. They always advertise ethanol burns cleaner so I gave it a try. It definately doesn't smell as bad.
DaSwede
Not worth the headache...literally.
Farley
I have a dual fuel. I still use it. I just burn the coleman gas though. I hang mine right on the poles, or sometimes if I have one with, a carabiner. Never had an issue but the S hook would be conviennt.
schweady
My Dual Fuel Coleman lantern is in the box on the basement shelf. Has not been opened since I began using LEDstrings.
OnAFly
I still use my propane lantern. Is uses little fuel and gives off plenty of heat so for me it saves space in my 1 man flipover working as light and heat.I've had no problems with fumes either. pike79
I use the propane Coleman latern, no problems with fumes and very bright only complaint is the mantles fall apart when it gets bumped.
