JohnMickish
Just keep telling yourself that here in MN, there is ALWAYS open water to fish. The ice guys can't say that.
Wish-I-Were-Fishn
I wish them well, but won't be joining the party.

Slabasaurus
Just keep telling yourself that here in MN, there is ALWAYS open water to fish. The ice guys can't say that. This is something to keep in mind... especially if we have another 'winter' like last.
GSP4ME
it kills me to read how they will risk life and limb to try and get out there so early. I am content to let some other bozo fall through

Raider4ever
Technically it happened yesterday. Ok. But Open was still on top when I was on and when I checked the next day it wasn't. My bad.
itchmesir
So where in the state is there ice right now? I'm guessing way up north? DT Lake area? Not even a sign that water is going to freeze up any time soon down here
Stick in Mud
Yeah, no freeze up in the picture (though I have seen some small ponds frozen over in my area here near St Cloud). But if you go by those following the forum, ice fishing is definitely on top!
Slabasaurus
Bois Brule River, bout 10:15am sunday. Or whenever steak n eggs were done... At least the guides weren't iced up this time. Dumb. Stupid. Oh well. glad I like to fish water that's moving and rarely outside of 40-60 degrees
Fish Head
I see that the Ice Fishing Forum is now above the Open Water Forum. That's always a sad thing. This will be my first weekend not going to Vermilion since April.
Down Deep
This is Minnesota and ice fishing is big and a great way to pass the winter months. However, I'm also bummed on the day I pull the batteries out of the boat. However, the Otter, Strikemaster and other gear is ready to go. I also get my open water itch satisfied by taking a couple of trips each winter for saltwater and some March crappie fishing in KY. Lake Superior is also nearby for winter Kamloops fishing. snoozebutton
Cool pic slabasaurus!!! Was holding out hope that I'd get the boat out one last time but I decided to winterize it tomorrow.
OnAFly
Mine got put away yesterday. The boat is stored, one canoe is stored, and one more is getting hung this week. When that happens, the garage gets a good cleaning and the ice stuff makes it's season debut...in the garage.
