I wanna go open water fishing so bad. esp with this heat wave we have. I just bought a new tackle box yesterday and a bunch of lures, jigs, weights, bobbers, skirts ect.

I'm suprised there was not a thread about this already.

I hear you. Boats in storage and Im trying to figure out how to put on a kicker motor. Ice fishing just aint the same. I think open water on area lakes may only be seven weeks away.

Head 300 miles south. Lots of open water down in southern Iowa and northern Missouri. There and back in 3 1/2 days and get 2 full days of fishing. Get that boat out of storage and ready to go. Rainy River will be opening up in a few weeks.

Yep redwing ain't that bad of drive from kato. And with the warm weather we've got and the low flow should be much easier for a new guy compared to last year. In fact I just looked at the wx report and am giving serious thoutght myself to going out there this weekend.

My ice gear is getting put away and the boat is coming out of storage next week. Have a few updates to do to it and then she will be ready. Gotta pack the wheel bearing and then she is ready for thre river.

Got a couple new rods to bild and then it is time for the Sippi.

I agree i have been in the garage working on the boats and gear atleast 3 days a week and i learned a valuble lesson this year dont buy anything too big too early in the year i bought a HB 898 and now i sit and stare at it and work on learning to use it but all i dream about is being out on the water useing it dam i want open water here now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh man, you've already started buying stuff. I haven't got that bad yet....and I have to hold off on any purchases (unless I find an amazing deal) until at least April. Otherwise, I make more impulse purchases and end up with more stuff that I don't need and won't use!

Yeah, I have a lot of "work" I want to do to the boat to get it ready. New battery charger, and some work on the trailer.

man.. sounds so tempting... especially when my MO license is about to end in 2 weeks..

i've never found the appeal in ice fishing.. thank god the warm weather has made for some great days out on the streams this year so far

I quit fishing late ice after I pulled my buddy out of rotten ice and getting a Lund Pro-V got me in the Sippi right quick like every spring since! All I need is 30+ air temp! One time I caught a brown trout down by Red Wing in the Sippi!
