BrdHunter01
What's everyones plans for next weekend? I love hittingthe duck blind on deer opener! A lot less pressure and the ducks always seem to be moving. Who's chasin the buck and who's chasin the duck?
Todd Caswell
Unless the weather changes from above average temps during the next week, and knowing there are NO ducks in MN right now I WOULD PICK DEER HUNTING........................................... If I had the choise............................................
Will
"no ducks in Minnesota" where the he#£ are you hunting? The last week has been great, and I am hunting on high pressure metro spots. This week is my favorite week to duck hunt, calendar birds and migrators!

SledNeck
Deer.Calling it quits on waterfowl until Arkansas in January
Scott M
Good luck Sled, looking forward to a report from AR.Good luck in S.C. Minnesota, there's hardly a duck around. Got back from my second weekend in NoDak, starting to see why so many folks, young and old, don't bother hunting MN anymore. When you can shoot in 15 minutes in ND what takes you all season in Minnesota...It's a no brainer, deer.
Farley
I've been doing both since duck season opened. It's a tough decision to make that early in the morning. Done more duck hunting in the mornings, then deer hunting the evenings. This weekend I'll be in the deerstand though.
bemidjibasser
Ducks for me, I stopped playing in tree forts a long time ago... haaha!!

Riverratpete
Bringing both.
BoxMN
Bringing both. Ditto, but they buddy has ducks in his slough, and my grandsons first deer trip... so prolly ducks on Sat AM, then deer PM, then whichever looks best for Sunday
skee0025
Neither. Just the idea of putting on camo and heading out when everyone and their brothers are in blaze is IMO crazy. Even if you have private land to hunt i wouldnt do it. 500 thousand people heading out, many will shoot at anything thats brown and moves, without regard to who's land its on. If you go out after ducks good luck.
Finlander
Lets see there are over 1 million deer in Minnesota! Deer outnumber ducks 10 to 1! Grab the slug gun!
Stringerless!
Ducks of course ! I guess I could get a deer and be in the blind 10 minutes after legal. F ing deer are like pests ! Everywhere! Where is your sense of fair chase !
auggie78
Ducks for me. Will be the first deer opener I have skipped in a long time.
Quackaddict9
Good luck Sled, looking forward to a report from AR. Good luck in S.C. Minnesota, there's hardly a duck around. Got back from my second weekend in NoDak, starting to see why so many folks, young and old, don't bother hunting MN anymore. When you can shoot in 15 minutes in ND what takes you all season in Minnesota... It's a no brainer, deer. I don't know what you're talking about! But the field/water hunting in Northern MN past 3 years for me and group has been as good as it can get in NoDak except for more variety in field hunts. Location does make a difference. Yes there might be more birds out west but nothing yet to make me just not hunt MN and travel in the Dakotas. I'll be deer hunting. Been a busy october at work to chase ducks on weekends but got into some geese however. Good luck and be safe.
Scott M
I know you're doing well Quack, you put your work in, you've got a good location, that's terrific. You're welcome to join me any time you want down here in S.C. MN, run a couple tanks of gas through your truck, settle for a spot that has a couple meager flocks, settle in nice and early the next morning, and maybe see a couple flocks, maybe get to pull the trigger once or twice. I'm not talking geese, I'm talking ducks. Minnesota is a goose state now. I shot plenty of geese this fall, not as many as your crew I'm sure, but enough to satisfy me. But anybody that wants to see the duck hunting in S.C. Minnesota is welcome to join me for empty skies. PM me.Sorry to hijack the thread...chase those deer! Jmnhunter
if i didnt have such a strong tradition into deer hunting on opener, i would probably pick ducks, no people and noticed some migrants coming in, must be some cold in CAN pushing them down!
