was it just me or did anyone else wanna punch dakota fred in the face ater all the things that he said and how he was able to just push the hoffmans out of the claim? and the 80,000 for all that equipment didnt really seem fair for the retail price of the equipment and labor..

i think it was all set up, for having no money they sure had plenty of nice stuff to drive around in during the off season to scout. I think discovery is going all in and tossing some money around. To much just seems set up to me

I'm sure they found 10x the amount of gold they actually showed last year. Really wouldn't make for much drama if they just dug a hole and struck it rich. AND Mr. Taxman would be knocking down their door trying to get their share.

Oh, I don't think that it's any secret that there is a lot of creative editing and direction that happens with these types of shows, but this one has jumped the shark.

Another one that is pretty bad is American Guns. But I still watch. grin

They should have hired professional actors to do this, because their acting is so forced is laughable.

I enjoying watching the show just to see how the process works and just to see a little gold.

The Hoffman crew no doubt is getting a BUNCH of money from Disc, not to mention the ton of money they probably got over the off season making appearances at places.

IMO though, this formula for "reality" shows jumped the shark quite a while ago. They are basically all the same.

Honestly, I can't believe you guys fall for any of these shows. Ya might as well head on back to the WWE, it's more real than the carp you guys fawn over, seriously. crazy

"B-b-but it's real to me!" smile

I agree! I'm watching just to see the process. What does it take to find GOLD! I just want them to pull nuggets and shut the heck up! grin

Not one word was said about the equipment they shipped up to their other claim in the Klondike that they could not mine, now they are going to the klondike hoping to find a place to mine????? I thought at the end of last season it was fairly clear they wouldnt be mining porcupine creek. With the shark jumping and scripted drama Iam still going to watch a few more shows.

Thanks for pointing that out SFC. I'm sure they have a claim already picked out, as you know that equipment they bought is sitting somewhere. It also looked like they had a new wash plant they loaded up at the beginning of the episode (black and yellow machine).

    • As a recovering machinist, I can appreciate that.  If the spec is 0.001 - 0.0015, then clearly the correct measurement is 0.00125, duh…
    • I just figured that it is easy enough to just get a 3 bank so when the boat is not in use I can keep all 3 batteries charged. I have not bough a charger yet, maybe I will give it some more thought. Edit: After thinking this over, with the size, weight, and heat output of the charger (as well as the cost) I think it makes sense to just buy a 2 bank charger, I have a smaller charger i can use on the starting battery when the boat is sitting at home. Forgive me, for i am a retired engineer and I have to obsess over everything...
    • Congrats on the motor!  I think you’ll like it.   I can’t say much on the charger location but I’ve seen them under the lid in back compartments and under center rod lockers.  160 degrees is more than I expected to hear.   Curious why you’re opting for a 3 bank charger with a 24V trolling motor.  Unless you don’t feel you be running you big motor enough to keep that battery up as well?
    • I did buy an Minnkota Ulterra, thanks for the recommendations. I had a bunch of Cabela"s bucks saved up, which helped. Now i need to get an onboard battery charger. Where do you guys mount these things in your boat? The manufacturer I am looking at {Noco genius) says tht their 3-bank charger will run at 160 degrees, seems like a lot of heat in an enclosed compartment? Thanks for any input on this.
    • You're very lucky a troop of Sea Monkey's didn't carry you away.
    • Wasn't terrible at a state park beach. Antelope island maybe.  I wouldn't recommend it as a beach destination tho.  Figured I was there, I'm getting in it.
    • The water looked and smelled disgusting with hundreds of thousands of birds sh*tting in there.  About as gross as the Salton Sea. When I duck hunted there I didn't even want to touch the water.
    • It's kinda gross with the algae in the summer but I got in it anyway.  Wanted to see the increased bouyancy at work.  You can kinda tuck yourself into a ball and you'll just float with your head above water.  When dry off you look diamond encrusted with the salt.
    • We went to the flats too. I dipped a tire on the rental car onto it just to say I’ve been there, but it was still pretty soft from winter melt. After seeing some moron in a BMW suv get dragged out of the muck I had no intention of repeating his stupidity.
    • I've been out on the flats. It's like being on a different planet
