zamboni
Are my eyes decieving me, TWO first round picks for Carson Palmer????? That is alot of compensation for a team that is winning by simply handing the ball off to McFadden. This isn't like Brady or Rogers is out for the year. WOW. Dylan33
Even though Al Davis is gone, his legacy of horrible dealings lives on.
goblueM
yeah what a terrible deal. Shoulda given Minnesota a 6th round pick for McNabb instead, and gotten a QB in the draft next year.
Tip Up Rookie
yeah what a terrible deal. Shoulda given Minnesota a 6th round pick for McNabb instead, and gotten a QB in the draft next year. I agree its one helluva deal for Cinci, I was hoping to hear the McNabb deal you mention
Antero
Maybe they saw the same Donovan that we are seeing.....who would want him?Reid, Shanny and now Frazier have seen enough.
zepman
It could be a really nice pick up though. He could end up being their starter for quite a few years. Definately a risky move.
ted4887
A first rounder and 2013 second rounder, unless the Raiders win a playoff game this year. Then that 2013 pick becomes a first rounder. What a RIPOFF!
james_walleye
What a steal for the bengals. They have their future qb and basically got 2 first rounders for a guy that had retired. Man are they set up nicely.
goblueM
yeah they made off with a king's ransom, they should be a real contender in the next few years
hunter76
Palmer is alot better than our out of shape QB, who will never be a starter again. Thank god! We should have traded McNabb and Musgrave. Musgrave was supposed to be so good, he is terrible.
RiverFish
Yes next years pick is a first rounder, put potentially could be any where from mid 20's to a late 20's pick. Its not like it will be a top 10 pick. The Raiders have the potential to get a starting QB for a late 1st round draft pick and a 2nd round pick in the 2013 draft. As Vikes fans know this is a QB league, if you don't have one, good luck.I think a great move for the Raiders. There chance to win is now, take advantage.

B. Amish
i can see both sides to this deal. but, you gotta say cincy wins because they basically were intent with letting palmer rot. so they get a lot for nothing.i wonder if the vikes were shopping anybody? RiverFish
Dylan,You think he is terrible, Raiders think he is a starting QB in the NFL. They think they can win with him now and in the future, that is what matters. Time will tell.Bengals got a good deal, draft picks are valuable. But if you can replace lost draft picks with a starting QB, in a QB league, it is worth it.
Nick Kuhn
Well due to byes and an injury to Kenny Britt, I'm forced to play Denarius Moore this week. Hopefully Palmer can find him.Great deal for the Bengals though. Palmer had flashes of brilliance but for the most part was just short of average with them. If Dalton continues to play well, They can use that extra draft pick to get him a weapon, while using their own pick to fix the holes the Bengals have. Dylan33
RF- with all due respect- I trust my valuation more than that of the Raiders. They are infamous for making terrible deals. I think this falls right in line.
RiverFish
Time will tell if this was a good deal for the Raiders. This day and age you need an above average QB to be succesful in the NFL. The Raiders are hoping Palmer fits that bill.Bengals we know got a good deal.
Dylan33
Yep- Bengals are laughing all the way to the draft on this. I hope i'm wrong about Palmer. It would be fun to see the Raiders back in the mix of playoff teams.
FISHINGURU
Litte steep but Palmer could still be an elite QB in this league, if he ends up being what they think he can be then it's not a rip off.Their running game is mean and their division is weak, I'm pretty sure Palmer is better then Campbell and they've done pretty well with him so far. CJH
Good deal for Cincy. Palmer is solid, but that's about it. He was top 10 before the knee injury, but hasn't been the same since.
SkunkedAgain
...and Hue Jackson was one of Palmer's coaches, so there is some mutual respect. If Palmer pans out than this is a good deal for Oakland. Think of all the draft choices they've already wasted on QB busts. If Palmer fails then it's a bad deal. It all depends on how it works out in the end.
PurpleFloyd
It was a terrible move for Oakland. For years they blamed the terrible decisions on Al but unless he is being channeled from the grave it looks like it was more wide spread than just in Al's hands.I wonder what we could get for JA if we would have traded him to the Raiders? Maybe enough to restock the roster. Never mind, I just saw how many draft picks the Raiders have already dealt away over the next few years and they don't have much more to give. SkunkedAgain
ha the trade looks even worse after how he played yesterday Man that means almost nothing. I would agree that it wasn't a good short term trade, but mostly because there was only the slightest chance that Palmer could learn the playbook and develop the chemistry in time to help this season. They threw the guy into a meat grinder yesterday. It's no shocker and doesn't mean that the trade was worse. The trade was still bad and anyone who expected more than this in five days was crazy. FISHINGURU
It will be a couple years before you know if it was a good trade or not, not half of a game with no practice and knowing 10% of the playbook.
