Walking Dead

Quickly scrolled down to avoid seeing anything. Not only too tired to watch, still stuck in Amsterdam. Apparently the airport isn't prepared to deal with windy conditions. Taking full advantage of the upgrade to 1st class will leave me in no condition to watch tomorrow either I fear.

Gotta agree with Lmit, this was a poor finale. Maybe a good episode... There was so many story lines that were going on, some of these could have been done the past few during the ho-hum episodes. When the gate was left open I was waiting for another Barnageddon or the wolves to get in. Ill keeping watching but there was no real big cliff hanger to get me really excited.

Also I dont like to knit pick this show but, come on! Oh we are having an important meeting and all these key people are missing, lets just start without them, forget about looking for them. Maybe the town's people are like that but not the group. Maggie do you even care that your husband Glenn is missing? No one knows where crazy ol Rick or the Doctor are, no big deal. Rick, walkers got in and your fighting them off? Dont yell for help or anything.

Funny how they are all about being a "Family", but Rick, Sasha, Fr. Gabriel, and Glenn are MIA from the meeting and no one knows where they are until Deanna talks about ol' Honest Gabe. Honestly, the best thing they could do is institute a Buddy System Protocol. You know the one; like we did on elementary school field trips. I think most problems would go away, and if Daryl and Aaron can do it, everyone else can too.

How did Rick struggle so long with one Walker? Doesn't he generally kill one just by looking at them? I think it was a decent episode but a poor finale. Looking forward to the summer show. Hope they get back on track next season.

A good finale would have been to take the last episode where Rick beat the tar out of Pete and tack on the extra 30 min which would have included Rick finding the gate open, the campfire talk underway, and Glen getting shot. The episode ends there without knowing what happened after any of those three things. At least there would be some real lingering questions that wouldn't be answered until next season, compared to what we got Sunday which was just fluff. It was a good episode for sure, just not a season finale.

Another good option would have been to cut Sunday's finale to an hour and leave those aforementioned items hanging, along with Daryl and his buddy trapped in the car and Tara's fate undecided.

thought the finale wasn't too bad but I guess the hype machine had me thinking it was going to be an OH S%^T ending and it wasn't. Knew Pete was going to get it, Reg was a shocker.

Something tells me that Glen got bit, just a gut thought.

I agree the whole thing about a bite is contagious but a mouthful of blood and fluids is perfectly safe.

The spinoff Fear The Walking Dead looks interesting, looking forward to July for that

Some people have far too much expectations for a tv show. The fact that this was a series finale OR just a run of the mill mid-season show and how it ended makes no difference to me. There are still plenty of things to ponder about what might happen.

Glenn and that jackoff haven't made it back yet and with those Whisperers or whatever they are going to be called finding those pictures you know they are coming. Plus the fact that Morgan, who had such a high respect for Rick, finally catching up to him and the first thing he sees is Rick assassinating a man? What will be the backlash there?

Managed to start it last night and finished it this morning before the club. Pretty much agree good episode, so so finale. Have a feeling they may make something of Gabriels character finally. He does have a survivor instinct buried inside him. Could be part of a storyline with him and Sasha kind of working their way to a happy medium plus it will keep Maggie occupied after Glenn is gone.

I guess I don't really need cliff hangers for every episode or every season finale. I was fine with them using the episode to close the loop on some questions.

We know where Morgan is. We know a little about how he got there. We don't know where he learned his Jedi mind tricks.

We have meet a few of the Wolves and we know they have some wolf prowess, sneaking up on Morgan. They also left no tracks for Daryl to notice when Daryl was tracking the guy in the raincoat. To the point they captured raincoat guy without Daryl even knowing.

We know that they have information on Rick & Co. so we can expect that story to continue.

We finally get the people of Alexandria to wake up. Pete killed someone just like Rick predicted. Too bad it wasn't the mayor.

I was really bothered by Daryl falling for the obvious trap of trailer walkers. You could see it a mile away as a viewer, cans hanging on a string to attact them. How he couldn't see it is beyond me.

I still hate that he rides a loud motorcycle in the apocalypse.

People seem to be forgetting that the living already have the virus. Being changed by a bite follows every other zombie/werewolf/vampire lore. Live with it.

Maybe one of you can answer this question. I was discussing this with a buddy and we were confused. Everyone has the zombie virus already, right? So if you die, you turn. BUT if you get bit by a zombie but not fatally you still turn? Is that how it works?

Im looking forward to the new spinoff. It will be interesting seeing the backstory and how things played out. Plus, hopefully they have learned from previous mistakes and the show moves along well.

You don't go directly from getting bit to becoming a walker, but rather the person dies from the bite and then turns. The bite apparently causes a fever which results in death.

What I want to know is why directly ingesting bodily fluids of a walker doesn't do the same thing. We've seen plenty of that in this series but nothing has ever come of it. I've read some theories that claim a walker's bite contains bacteria from all of the flesh eating and that's what causes the fever. Kind of like getting bit by the filthy mouth of a cat.

Here is a real life example you could compare the "virus" in the living to.

Chicken Pox. Everyone who has had chicken pox has this in their body for the rest of their life. In certain cases when stressors are added they can get Shingles.

People can live with this in their body and never get Shingles, but many do but it is usually brought on by something else a stress of some sort.

In the walking dead the "stress" that brings on the turning when bitten is likely just the key needed to activate it which will kill the person via the fever, etc then make them turn.

Not to play the spoiler card but apparently in the comic the Wolves are a speed bump (they are disposed of quickly)... so this could be a quick deal with them. BUT they built them up for weeks and maybe they want to play them out longer... I hope.

    • As a recovering machinist, I can appreciate that.  If the spec is 0.001 - 0.0015, then clearly the correct measurement is 0.00125, duh…
    • I just figured that it is easy enough to just get a 3 bank so when the boat is not in use I can keep all 3 batteries charged. I have not bough a charger yet, maybe I will give it some more thought. Edit: After thinking this over, with the size, weight, and heat output of the charger (as well as the cost) I think it makes sense to just buy a 2 bank charger, I have a smaller charger i can use on the starting battery when the boat is sitting at home. Forgive me, for i am a retired engineer and I have to obsess over everything...
    • Congrats on the motor!  I think you’ll like it.   I can’t say much on the charger location but I’ve seen them under the lid in back compartments and under center rod lockers.  160 degrees is more than I expected to hear.   Curious why you’re opting for a 3 bank charger with a 24V trolling motor.  Unless you don’t feel you be running you big motor enough to keep that battery up as well?
    • I did buy an Minnkota Ulterra, thanks for the recommendations. I had a bunch of Cabela"s bucks saved up, which helped. Now i need to get an onboard battery charger. Where do you guys mount these things in your boat? The manufacturer I am looking at {Noco genius) says tht their 3-bank charger will run at 160 degrees, seems like a lot of heat in an enclosed compartment? Thanks for any input on this.
    • You're very lucky a troop of Sea Monkey's didn't carry you away.
    • Wasn't terrible at a state park beach. Antelope island maybe.  I wouldn't recommend it as a beach destination tho.  Figured I was there, I'm getting in it.
    • The water looked and smelled disgusting with hundreds of thousands of birds sh*tting in there.  About as gross as the Salton Sea. When I duck hunted there I didn't even want to touch the water.
    • It's kinda gross with the algae in the summer but I got in it anyway.  Wanted to see the increased bouyancy at work.  You can kinda tuck yourself into a ball and you'll just float with your head above water.  When dry off you look diamond encrusted with the salt.
    • We went to the flats too. I dipped a tire on the rental car onto it just to say I’ve been there, but it was still pretty soft from winter melt. After seeing some moron in a BMW suv get dragged out of the muck I had no intention of repeating his stupidity.
    • I've been out on the flats. It's like being on a different planet
