goblueM
guy on the NFL network just made an interesting point - offer McNabb to the Raiders now that Campbell is out for the season, get a low draft pick, then start Ponder
PurpleFloyd
If they start McChunky one more time I am going to send the team a current Los Angeles real estate guide.
kdawg
It's easy to hit the target when you're in your backyard, nice and relaxed, but much more difficult to hit it when 3 or 4 guys are shooting at you. For this reason alone, I'm very impressed with Ponder. He was in the middle of the OK Corral but yet was making some nice connections. All of this while coming in cold. I don't know if the coaching staff will start him or not, but I sure am hoping they will.

Would be the smartest move the Vikes have made in years.
james_walleye
It's time for Ponder. The packers defense has not been that ferocious this year. Home game. It's time.

flipper
With our offensive line the Packers will eat him up. I would play Ponder selectively for the next couple games and then he can start and play the whole game hopefully.
james_walleye
Whether its this Sunday, or anytime this year, he is going to get hit. Quit delaying the inevitable. Let the packers gameplan for a qb in which there is no book on. You don't think cam newton and Andy Dalton are getting hit? Ponder is suppose to be more NFL ready than they were. Every game he doesn't play is 1 less games expierience that he doesn't get to build on for next year.
Big Dave2
I don't know if you can read anything into this but......I listened to Leslie Frazier's news conference at noon and he said they would not name a starter until wednesday. To me this means that there is at least a chance that they are going to start Ponder. I would think that if they were going to stick with McNabb he would have just came out and said that McNabb is his guy. McNabb didn't have that terrible of a game so it would have been real easy just to say that he was pulled because the game was out of hand and he is still the starter, but he didn't do that. Surface Tension
Its not a question if Mcnabb is a good QB or not.Point is we're not going to the Super Bowl. What are we looking to get out of the rest of the season?Sucks to be in this position so early, we need to prepare for next year.I'd like to find out this year if Ponder is our QB next year.If he pans out the experience from finishing the season is only going to help. Same could be said for Web.
james_walleye
Exactly. And the more time he has on the field this season, the further he will come along.
Jim Uran
Tough to throw him in there with that horrible line, We don't want to give him David Carr syndrome.I'd say let Mcnabb play until this line straightens up lol.
james_walleye
And when will that be. 2 weeks? 6 weeks? Next year? 2 years?? He needs to play. He's going to get hit whether its this week or in 5 weeks.

Let the packers gameplan for a qb in which there is no book on. I don't think the Packers are really too worried about game planning for a rookie QB with no offensive line But I do agree start Ponder for the rest of the year, see what you have or don't have in him. Maybe the Vikes will need the 1st round pick for Luck.
Jim Uran
I honestly think a decision will be made during the bye week, not saying that I'd rather see Mcnabb back there but I just don't see Frazier benching him completely until then. james_walleye
I would rather gameplan against Mcnabb rather than a qb in which there is no film is the point.....I don't think anyone cares if the packers are worried or not.....in fact its to the vikings advantage if the packers attitude is as carefree as you think it is...... reinhard1
i think your right. he normaly announces that on Monday's press show. Monday he said he has to talk to his staff and then determine who starts. good luck.
Getanet
I think if frazier was going Mcnabb he would have already said so just as he has every week prior to this..... I'll agree with you on that. I have to imagine at this point Wilf has "strongly suggested" that he sits McNabb as fans are starting to get restless, TV blackouts could become a real possibility, and it certainly isn't helping the stadium drive to have fan interest dwindling so early in the season. My point is that it would probably be easier for the Pack to game plan against Ponder, his skill set and experience are going to limit the way Frazier can use him. Game plan against an experienced QB or a rookie with no game experience...ah the winner is.....Ponder. I don't think any NFL team has a carefree approach to preparing for NFL games, let alone rivalry games.
james_walleye
Normally I would agree, but not with what Mcnabb has offered up. Not to hard to gameplan against someone who refuses to throw the ball more than 11 yards downfield. And we don't fully know ponders skillset. Did anyone think it would be to terribly difficult to prepare for newton or Dalton? 2 guys who aren't suppose to be as NFL ready as ponder. No I will disagree, the unknowns in ponders game would be more difficult to prepare for than what we have seen out of Mcnabb.
