Our defense is pretty brutal in terms of playing physical and being able handle and move the puck. I was looking over the stats of the Houston Aeros and noticed Chay Genoway is the leading D scorer. If I remember right he was a puck moving d-man. I think he is kinda smallish but so is spurgeon. Not to mention the WCHA has produced quite a few good D-men recently. Just wondering why they don't give him some playing time with the big squad?

Sorry guys but this season is over!! I love the Wild but to try and cheer for a team that scores 1 goal a game is almost impossible!! Time to start moving some veterans and keep the original 2 to 3 year plan going with all the young talent coming up!! I just need to have some Patience I guess but Minnesota fans deserve better than this product!

We are 5 points out of the 8th spot. Right now, we are projected to get 85 points. We 37 out of a possible 52 points wot get to 95 (a safe playoff number), which means 18.5 wins out of out next 27 games. That is a tall order, especially for a team as offensively challenged as we are.

I don't think we are making it. Here's to being a seller wink

Still plenty of hope for a playoff spot, we need some 2nd and 3rd line guys to pick it up, they have been far too quiet lately. Heatley has been great the past month, Seto has picked it up as late too. PMB and Lats being out has really hurt us, Cullen is also pulling another late season disappearing act.

I think they will get in the play-offs. They need to start shooting the puck more, which will create more scoring chances and hopefully more goals. I am really getting tired of seeing them pass, pass, pass when they should sometimes just GRIP IT AND RIP IT ! ! ! My 2 Cents.

hanronson, appreciate your hopefulness, but I'll go the other way, I'd be really shocked if they can find their groove again this season, they've had 2 months to figure it out and haven't. It's time to dump guys, that's what I'm hearing anyway. Would love to see playoff hockey, but it aint happenin. Trust me I want to eat those words but 6 goals in 7 games and our last win was 1-0, we are having too much trouble scoring and just firing at the net to these huge goalies won't solve it, the slapper is a rare goal scored really, we need traffic in front, we need stellar power play unit to make teams pay when we're a man up.

PLEASE tell me we have some defensemen who can actually play coming up!!! This is collectively the worst group I have ever seen!!

I think you are watching all the up and comers, which is why we look so bad, young D make mistakes. They looked great at the begining of the season so plenty of promise there. The only quality young D we have not playing for the wild is in Sweden but he should get a good look next year.

Good news is we played pretty well particularly in the 3rd period. Talk about energy in the building last night, we really need to get the Jets in our division.

Ton's of Rowdy Canadians in the crowd which really energized our fans!

I say get rid of the shoot-out. wink

At least Powe held his own with Glass. 48 career fights for Glass vs. 10 fights for Powe, not to shabby. Any reports on like how Brent Burns, John Madden, Nystrom, Havlat, Sheppard,Gillies, etc. guys we let loose are doing ? Do we wish any of them back ?

I believe Nystrom is having a very good year by his standards, being waived probably turned his career around. Burns is having a good but not great year. Havlat got hurt jumping over the boards crazy and has only palyed in 20-some games, not many points. Not sure on the others but I wouldn't worry about them.

    • Truly sorry to hear that duffman! I know that feeling.  Keep the good memories
    • Chamois passed away this weekend a couple days short of her 13th bday. What a great dog to hang out with here at home and on distant adventures. Gonna miss ya big time my little big girl.
    • Sounds pretty sweet, alright. I will check them out, thanks.
    • If you really want to treat your wife (and yourself) with a remote operated trolling motor, the Minn Kota Ulterra is about easy as it gets.  Auto stow and deploy is pretty awesome.  You just have to turn the motor on when you go out and that the last time you have to touch it.   24V 80lb.  60 inch shaft is probably the right length for your boat.  They ain’t cheap - about $3k - but neither one of you would have to leave your seat to use it all day.
    • Wanderer, thanks for your reply. I do intend for it to be 24 volt, with a thrust of 70-80. Spot lock is a must (my wife is looking forward to not being the anchor person any more).  With my old boat we did quite a lot of pulling shad raps and hot n tots, using the trolling motor. Unlikely that we will fish in whitecaps, did plenty of that when I was younger. I also need a wireless remote, not going back to a foot pedal. We do a fair amount of bobber fishing. I don't think I will bother with a depth finder on the trolling motor. I am leaning toward moving my Garmin depth finder from my old boat to the new one, just because I am so used to it and it works well for me. I am 70 years old and kinda set in my ways...
    • Dang, new content and now answers.   First, congrats on the new boat!   My recommendation is to get the most thrust you can in 24V, assuming a boat that size isn’t running 36V.  80 might be tops?  I’m partial to MinnKota.     How do you plan to use the trolling motor is an important question too.     All weather or just nice weather?   Casting a lot or bait dragging?   Bobber or panfish fishing?   Spot lock?  Networked with depth finders?  What brand of depth finders?
    • We have bought a new boat, which we will be picking up this spring. It is an Alumacraft Competitor 165 sport with a 90 horse Yamaha motor. I will be buying and installing a trolling motor,  wondering if I can get some recommendations on what pound thrust I will want for this boat?  Also, I will be selling my old boat, is there a good way to determine the value on an older boat ( mid-80's with a 75 horse 2-stroke  Mariner motor)  I will appreciate any help with these questions.
