I am in need of some hunting equipment suggestions. I have $250 in Cabelas gift cards. I 'm an avid deer hunter and seem to have the basic equipment needed. I've been thinking about things like a ground blind, deer decoys, trail cams (have 1 already), etc. Any thoughts or suggestons on the subject?

A nice wool coat or the new merino wool baselayers to keep ya toasty warm on those chilly days.

An upgraded fall-safety vest that has the retractable line attached directly to the tree.

Walkers Game ear hearing protection.

Donate it to a conservation organization (Pheasants Forever?) or Big Brothers/Big Sisters.

I have the exact opposite problem, no gift cards and a big list of things to buy.

I would get anotehr game camera for sure, monitoring 2 or more areas at once can give you a lot of info. More blinds and stands are alwasy cool, if you are a bowhunter I know I alwasy need more arrows, broadheads, and targets. If you are not a bowhunter but love to deer hunt maybe it's the perfect time to get into it!

You can't go wrong with a good pair of hunting boots. For deer hunting, you need a couple pair, one pair for walking around and warm weather hunts, another pair for sitting in the cold.

Trail cameras are addicting, get another one.

As someone else said, goto Cabelas, wander around, you should have no problem spending the $250.

What I would look for is clothes start at your base layer and dress your self until you reach 250 dollars IMO nothing beats a great base layer and being comfy in the woods all day is a must.. for me anyways

Something I came across there last year, put on my Christmas list & received was an adjustable stand for a trail camera. I think they were around $30. I've finally used it & really like it. None of this trying to find a tree about the right size with a decent view. Just put the camera in the spot with the best view & angle of the spot it's covering. It's much faster & easier.

Tree stands you can never have too many. Now that I have a blind I'm starting to feel that way about those too.

Broadheads & arrows are a great suggestion too. A pkg of broadheads can always help finish off that gift cert. They're a permanent fixture on my Christmas list (which I analy keep in Excel...). A layout blind for field hunting waterfowl is a dandy extra if you do that & don't have one. You can definitely make do with burlap, but they're awfully nice. (I don't have one yet.)

      got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out

      Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!

      we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
