Thank you Everyone! Yup, I graduated yesterday with an my 2 year RN degree!!

I'm studying for boards as we speak which hopefully I'll be able to take within the next month or so and then it's job hunting time. I'm thinking I'll take whatever job a fresh grad RN can get!

I've also decided to go on to get my Bachelors degree but can take that more slowly. I'm in no rush to get back into full time school. I just want to get full time back into the workforce and maybe even start fishing more! grin

Gina and I congradulate you on your graduation.

Gina says it seems like yesterday sitting at the table at the cabin trying to decide what was going to be your next career move. There goes another 2 or 3 years that we cant get back.

GOOD LUCK!! On the state boards. It will be so worth it in the future.

I hope your job search is quick, painless, and rewarding.

I'm not super familiar with the state of the new-nursing-degree-job hunt, but from what I understand about nursing in general, you should have a few options if you're patient.

Also, (this goes for job hunting in general) see if your teachers or others you know in the profession have contacts that are hiring. It's that "not what you know, but who you know" thing. And keep in mind that the first compensation offer is often not the best offer an employer is willing to make. I've learned from some of the wage/ gender gap reading that I've done that women tend to be less open to negotiating with a potential employer over an offer. Try to keep in mind that, if someone is making you an offer, they WANT you to work there (within reason, of course).

Great job Lisa! While the boards will be a pain, and you will have to put in the time preparing; I'm sure they will go just fine for you. Now you will have to be carefull what you wish for.....when little Johnny or Susie next door get hurt and family members get sick, they are going to be calling you first thing; and you will end up learning more about causual freinds then you would ever want to know. grin

Congratulations Lisa! I know how hard you have worked to reach your goals. Good for you! I hope you can get more time in now for fishing. I wish you all the best in your search for an RN position. Wherever you go, they will be lucky to have you. Way to go girl!

Way to go Lisa.

Soon the hard work will be over and the dividends will arrive.

Congrats Lisa. I've been an RN for nearly 15 yrs now, and I remember the hard work and stress of boards vividly. Without knowing you, I'm confident you'll do great!! Try to relax, don't overthink the questions, and go with your gut / first thought.

The hard work will NOT be over, but the dividends will definately arrive. I don't know of a nursing job in a hospital, skill care facility or nursing home that isn't hard work and at times very testing (like many jobs, but yet very different). But, the personal opportunities / interactions / you are allowed to have patients and their families make nursing a very unique and rewarding career.

Best of wishes, and keep up the hard work, even after you ace the boards!!

WAY TO GO LISA!!!! It was a lot of hard work and time consuming but you did it. I know I couldnt have done it. Giving up fishing that much would have killed me. I would have needed a nurse, or shrink. grin

Anyways great job and put on the gloves and give Jim a complete physical now. shocked
