Minnesota Twins: Delmon Young pulls himself from lineup

Delmon Young has pulled himself from the lineup of tonight's game against the Tampa Bay Rays because he can't get loose, Minnesota Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said.

Young was scheduled to return from a five-game absence tonight; he was out because of the flu and a sore rib cage. But Gardenhire said Young asked out after batting practice.

"He feels fine; he just can't get loose," Gardenhire said.

That leaves the Twins with one healthy player on the bench, backup catcher Steve Holm. Jim Thome is out with a strained oblique muscle, and Jason Repko is bothered by a sore quadriceps, though Gardenhire said he is available if necessary.

Also, pitcher Carl Pavano has the flu. His Saturday start has been pushed to Sunday.

We need to change our name to the MN Sallys!

It's too bad the Twins have had so many injuries, but that aside, what's with all the walks our pitchers have been issuing? Does anyone else think that maybe it's time to banish Liriano to the bullpen? How many times are they going to trot him out to the mound to get his @ss kicked? Is he a head-case or can he simply not perform the way he used to before his surgery?

I DO think that today's players are more pampered than ever, and despite that, still spend more time on the DL or the bench to be "rested" than players from years ago. Still an avid Twins fan, just a bit frustrated.

Damon's out there playing with a broken finger - maybe the Twin's will get the message.

That snow last night sure did look beautiful falling on Target Field didn't it? And I had Wade Davis pitching on my fantasy team. Not entirely a bad night. smile

This will fire ya up a touch, if mauer were from Texas or Florida we'd be ripping him apart as well as that contract that I told my mom he'll never live up to it the day it was signed, is he 0-9 throwing out base stealers or 0-10 ? I know it falls on the pitcher often but man Russell martin and his 6 or 7 jacks would look good at the twins catcher spot and we could've saved 188 mill. Mauer sure misses that first row in the dome in left field where half his jacks fell, MVP Morneau, why'd we give him 100 mill more than MVP morneau ? Mauer is 1 foul tip away from a long DL stint every game he catches, they say don't draft fantasy catchers too high in a HR derby as they get days off and DL time yearly. Did we forget .181 Tim Laudner was good enough to win it all.

How sad that zobrist has more rbis today than any of our guys have for whole season. He we have a guy who can play 2b and outfield. You don't suppose the rays would be interested in a swap?

MuskyBuck- although Mauer more than likely won't live up to the stats that is expected signing a contract like that I am sure he is making it up plenty in return for the team itself in jersey sales attendance and other memorabilia that his name is attached to.....they don't sign players just for there playing ability but also what that player brings to the team in financial return....and Joe Mauer brings alot of money into the Twins pockets just look out in the crowd at the field and see who's jersey is the most popular

So we should be excited for someone that makes $188 million because he sells jerseys!! The only reason he is still here is because he's a hometown kid! And evidently you can't say anything bad about this team and still be a fan, maybe I should just "change the channel or root for someone else" It's amazing how we supposed to be happy with mediocrity!

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
