Anybody's Rocky Blizzard Stalker boots fall apart too?

I've had mine for one year, and the back has blown out on both boots. Right where the rubber meets the leather. Contacted Rocky and they couldn't do anything about it. Just wondering if other people have had problems with this boot or if I just got a lemon. My other pair of Rocky's are going on 13 years.

My other pair of Rocky's are going on 13 years.

I used to buy and wear only Rockys. Some time within the last 5-10 years the quality just totally crashed. I've still got a pair of 15 yr old snow stalkers, but the last 2 pair of other Rocky boots that I bought were garbage within a matter of months.

Even Irish Setters are made in China, its all about the materials there using to make the boots. I used to buy Rocky boots till my last pair of $140.00 Rocky's fell apart in like 4 months. I was all Red Wing after that, that's why all my hunting and ice fishing boots are now Irish Setter. These darn boots seem bulletproof, they are all waterproof and extremely comfortable. But just being made in china is'nt the problem.

My Rocky Blizzard Stalkers are junk as well - just when I got them broke in so they felt comfortable, the back of the boot cracked all over rendering them useless as far as being waterproof. Might have to take your advice and look at the Irish Setters - are they made under Red Wing boots?

I don't have the blizzard stalkers but a buddy did, his did the same thing. I have a pair of of the old Snow Stalker Extremes and the rubber and leather just pulled apart this winter, 11 years of use. Before that I had the Snow Stalkers and the seem blew out on the side of my foot. Back then Rockys service was good and they replaced them with the extremes. What irish setter or la crosse boots is everyone looking at? I have had my eyes on the Irish Setter Snow claw xt or the La Crosse Hunt Pac Extremes.

I have the same boot. The same thing happened, blew out on the back and I only wear mine a couple times a year during deer hunting if its cold enough. The rest of the boot is new yet and they are almost 10 years old.

I've been running Rocky's for about 10 years (an ice fishing boot and a upland game hunting boot) and they've held up well. I believe I have the Blizzard Stalkers but don't recall the name of the hunting boot. I got them about the same time and figure 10 years is pretty good. With that said, I'll probably looking at something different to replace the hunting boot like a Danner as these are insulated a little too much for early season pheasants. Great for late season pheasants though and fishing in the boat in late fall.

I had a pair of Rocky Snow Stalkers and I thought they were great boots. Warm and light. Lasted close to 14 years before the back separated from the boot. I had Rocky's hiking boots that were falling apart too soon however. I have quit buying Rocky's altogether. Baffin pac boots and Irish Setter hikers are my last two pairs and I have been impressed with both. I will be checking out the USA made Danner's once the Irish Setters wear out.

Rocky boots used to be made in Nelsonville,Ohio till they thought it would be to cut cost and make them in Mexico, and really make some profit.

The factory is still there as is their outlet store. Rocky Boots used to be Nelsonvilles only industry. I guess that's how they repay those folks for making them sucessful. Just one more example of fat cat greed!

The sole just split in half on both of my 10 year old Rockies this year. I am now in the market for some snowmobiling/shoveling/etc boots. I have another good pair for hunting, I just need a pair for when I am active outdoors. I want some boots that will keep my feet dry. Any suggestions from those of you with recent experience in the boot world?

I picked up a pair of Rocky boots 12-13 years ago at a crazy discount. I think I paid $30 for them. They are still going strong, the only problem I had was I broke one of the original laces this winter. I guess 12 is a petty fair life span for the laces, the boots themselves look brand new yet.

Looks like when time comes to replace them I'll need to look at a different brand. I wonder how long Rocky will float along on past reputation. Sooner or later word gets out that they are making junk now. When it does all of the big profits they were chasing aren't going to be there any more. They are basically trading their good brand reputation for a few years of increased profits. Not a good business move at all.

I've purchased 2 pair of Rockies in the last 4 years. They are both holding up well, however my insulated pair doesn't insulate that well, and the non-insulated ones have a horrible quality leather on them.

Doesn't sound like they're holding up that well to me. frown

I gave up on Rocky a long time ago. Danner or Irish Setters for me.

The old- I bought em, put em on and loved em, is gone. They went to China, cut corners on materials and started mass producing a VERY poor boot. Only the guys that have had them from about 4-5 years ago will argue that, before that they were great. P.S.- another vote for Red Wings

I have 5 year old Rocky's (not sure which - Goretex/800g Thinsulate) and they have been flawless. They are dirty but no visible ripping and still waterproof.

I have always heard good things about the Irish Setters/Redwings.

    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
