RumRiverRat
I did nt read all of the charges but other than state violations what will he face for federal charges ? Since Waterfowl is a migratory game bird, State Violations are also Federal Violations.

mixxedbagg
Make an example out of this schmuck for anyone else out there engaged in, or considering doing, something like this. If a celeb like this gets the book thrown at him, other guides and hunters in the industry will certainly get wind and maybe think twice. jparrucci
Wow. I thought most of this had happened after his trailer was taken from Game Fair and I actually felt sorry for the guy. Now I'm glad it was. What a total scumbag.
brittman
Wow. I thought most of this had happened after his trailer was taken from Game Fair and I actually felt sorry for the guy. Now I'm glad it was. What a total scumbag. His trailer was not taken. His pick up was robbed. Police report noted that there was no forced entry. SBE (4 floaters), lanyards with bands, and other stuff were stolen. Foiles has largely been a negative to waterfowling, this Federal indictment only validates this. jwmiller33
this disgusts me to read everything about this guy. i hope they throw the book at him and make an example out of him... sad thing is, you never see the maximum sentence it seems like. this guy should never be allowed to take a game animal ever again. i hope all of his sponsors drop him and stop selling his products in stores. he should have to forfeit all of his money from sales of his calls, dvds, etc b/c he used illegal means to promote them. creepworm
Yes, I got that feeling while I was at Game Fair. He did not seem upset about it and I felt as though he was using it as a way to conjure up sympathy and sell calls.
sheepheadslayer
I hunted with the guy in CO once a few years back. Had a good time but never had the opportunity to shoot more than our limit tho we wouldn't of had it been a chance. Took him out on the town one night and got pretty tore up. Woke up the next morning to eat breakfast and walked past his truck. The window was half way down and all his calls and cameras and stuff was all laying on the seat. I think the keys may have even been in it. We hunted 2 days with him and shot like 15 geese or something. My experience with him was fine but could see him being arrogent. He did bring some young kids back to the motel from the restaurant and tuned there calls and gave them signed hats and stuff. Even tuned a Zink call for the one kid. Just my 2 cents. Quackaddict9
A pro-staffer, Travis Wood of Foiles committed suicide yesterday... could be over all Foiles indicents and what Travis did in Washington this past fall, too much pressure from the feds and CO's out there after him. But who really knows what caused him to do this, sad deal either way. Although I did see a post Jeff Foiles made about Travis and was blaming other people and it was shame how the way he put it, you would understand if you read what he wrote. I hope Foiles looks at it and takes it back.
Muthagoose
It was from a seperate incident. Travis's company had a short video clip on Utah state promo, you tube ect. From what I saw shots of gunner shooting clearly shot 4 shells at geese and a guy which turns out to be the camp chef claimed he shot 6 geese with only 3 shells dogging the other gunners in the video. Reading whats been posted it appears a sponsor called on it and had the video pulled as with several others calling the AG in utah... I also read the foiles statement and to me he did nothing but dig a bigger hole I wont ever buy anything with his name on it.JMHO. Theres rumor about charges due to cyber bullying,to a criminal investigation. To me if you stand in the lymelight and post on the web _ gets splattered on ya it shows up bigtime. Some have posted pretty strong about how the view this act.. Ive learned early in life judge and you will be judged by walking in thier shoes. I dont condone his actions nor do I condem him and the true victums are is his family and freinds...
Quackaddict9
It also stated that Wood was with Foiles when they were shooting over limits at his duck club in Illinois. And that is what I meant by getting so much pressure from the feds and CO's, people emailing them what happened. But yes Foiles should have just thought before typing. perch_destroyer
Wow the plot thicken. Sad to hear about Travis. Foiles was one of my favorite to watch next Zink, disappointed is an understatement. Last week I was google'n Foiles, and came across a guided hunt with some outfitter in Brighton, CO schedule for the 24th and 25th of this month. I was thinking, what an interesting hunt that could be. Plenty to talk about that's forsure. This will definately be a court case to follow. Wondering if he's gonna be made an example out of, should, he made who knows how much money and gave us fowlers a bad rep.

Muthagoose
Well that "version" is a heck of a lot Smoother than the first posted. Heres uptake from todays court.Nows he even more popular with something in Canada to look forward to...“Fallin’ Skies” duck hunter Jeffrey Foiles entered a not guilty plea Thursday to a 23-count indictment accusing him of violating federal wildlife laws.Moments later, Foiles learned he would be facing charges in Canada, too.Foiles, best known for his series of "Fallin' Skies" hunting videos, also is a waterfowl hunter, guide, call-maker and operator of Foiles Migrators Inc., a retail business near Pittsfield. He also is one of two owners of the Fallin’ Skies Strait Meat Duck Club in Pike County. He appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Byron Cudmore in Springfield Thursday to answer charges he regularly killed ducks and geese in excess of legal limits as part of his guiding and video production businesses. As he left the courtroom, Foiles was served with a summons to appear in court in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada on April 5, the same day his trial is scheduled to start here.Details of the charges brought by Environment Canada were not immediately available. In the United States, Foiles is charged with conspiracy to violate federal laws against transporting or selling wildlife taken illegally, killing ducks and geese in excess of legal limits and keeping false records.Since migratory birds travel across political boundaries, they are governed by the International Migratory Bird Treaty Act.It is against federal law to kill or possess migratory birds without a permit or without observing regulations governing hunting seasons and bag limits. The indictment says Foiles routinely allowed customers to kill more birds than allowed and falsified records. Some hunts where limits were exceeded were included in hunting videos, the indictment says.According to the indictment, “the main purpose of the conspiracy was to enrich Foiles through the collection of guiding fees, tips and proceeds from video sales and sponsorship agreements.”On Oct. 9, 2004, the indictment alleges Foiles guided a goose hunt in Canada during which participants killed about 20 Canada geese over the sum of the hunters’ individual daily bag limits.“When the cameraman became upset at the number of geese being killed and shut off the camera, Foiles order him to continue filming,” the indictment says.As part of Foiles’ bond agreement, he agreed to give up firearms for personal use kept at his home, including those owned by family members living with him.As a holder of a federal firearms license, he can still display and sell firearms at his business if they are already are in stock. However, he won’t be allowed to buy or trade for any additional firearms while legal proceedings are ongoing. As part of his guiding business, he also cannot possess a firearm in the field.Foiles’ attorney asked that Foiles be allowed to continue to use firearms while guiding, especially to help clients with their guns.Cudmore denied the request.“He should be able to modify his business,” Cudmore said, repeating that he is making an exception for Foiles’ retail business and allowing him to keep his “recreational archery equipment.”“I am moving substantially below my usual restrictions,” he said. “It is a large deviation from what I usually put into place.”Chris McCloud, spokesman for the Illinois Department of Natural Resources, said no action will be taken against Foiles’ Illinois hunting privileges unless he is convicted.“Only then do we assess what points are to be entered into the database,” McCloud said. perch_destroyer
Wow, sounds like he's on hold for quite awhile. You know what he's got for family? I've seen his son in the Fallin Skies 10 video, wife, kids? Talk about some stress on the family. He made his bed, time to lay in it.
