If payroll decided baseball games.........

Luck and good and bad days decide baseball games.

Pay is directly correlated to the supposed talent of a player and when you have big paychecks you likely have talented players, meaning more good days than bad. When you have a team stacked with top tier talent they will likely win more games than a team without top tier talent. That said plenty of highly talented players don't have A-Rod or Mauer contracts and at the risk of being called a heretic... not all big paycheck players are necessarily worth what they are paid. Especially if they spend a good chunk of the season on the DL.

I seriously hope that no one believes spending big money doesn't equal a competitive edge...

Giants are near the top in spending

Twins must be near the top also. The Twins only spent about 300,000 less than the Giants.

So......if the Twins payroll stays the same this year, the Twins will still be near the top in spending with One player earning almost 1/4 of the entire payroll. Hmmmmmmm.
