Good work boots?

I didnt know where to put this but what do you guys think are the most comfortable work boots made. I work commercial construction so mostly concrete, my feet always ache. Any suggestions. I currently have timberlands but after 4 mos. the sole cracked in half. Looking to get some new ones.

You work commercial construction and don't wear good Red Wings? Shame on you! There are a few different boots out there that people will chime in on, but I and my crew all wear Red Wings. Not the Red Wing Worxs, those are made in China or some other place. We wear the Minnesota made Red Wings.

I wear the #608 model as does half the shop. Great boots but be warned, they run about $170. I have worn just about everything out there trying not to spend that kind of money on work boots and realize I wasted a bunch of money trying to save money. They don't work for everybody but give them a try.

Redwing Grew up with them on the farm, always had them, well worth the money spent. Good arch support and I think thats got alot to do with achey feet at the end of the day.

i'm old now..lol

but have really high arches

and when i'm on them as long as i was today they ache

i went to a foot dr..he said some parts by big toe were just wore out..lol

so i''m going to get some special ones made with extra support

concrete is extemly hard on feet...not sure how old you are but i'd get some good ones..before yours wear out

maybe those red wings are worth the money..i have a pair of wolvines but they are insulated but i like those

I wore Red Wings for a long time and they were great boots. Then, aboot 10 years ago their quality went away, they got way heavy, and just didn't last, and I stopped using them.

Right around 5 years ago or so they got back to good quality and everyone I know in the trades, myself included wears them. I'm a fan of the 608. They last a long time, lightweight for what they are, and are good comfey boots. Expensive but you get what you pay for.

+1 on the 608's. They are spendy but worth the money. Tried to go the cheap route once and regretted it.

Georgia boot. Comfortable right out of the box. Kaplan brothers.

Red Wing boots. Seems to last longest, but if looking for comfort look into some sole inserts also.

Irish setter is my go to boot very comfortable. Some don't like them because they have a softer sole and tend to wear out quicker. I have 3 pair the sole wears out on 1 send in for new sole $45. I switch out boots every month or so.

+1 for Red Wings. I have a pair that are 5yrs old and worn almost daily for three of those years. I've had them resoled twice, but the boot is still great. Its like putting on a slipper.

wore red wing 4473 everyday for 20 yrs. i was on concrete all day long too and my feet would kill me if i wore anything else. I found that using the red wing insoles and two pair of socks no matter what the temp was also helped as it was added cushion. RW has two insoles one that is a style that replaces the standard sole and one that molds to your foot. both are very good. also carhartt makes socks that are designed for steel toe boots if you have to wear them. My boots were steel toe which also will add pressure to your feet over time.

Timberlands, my bro inlaw just got a pair he had for 10 years replaced for free cause the soles cracked. I have back problems and on concrete all day. I have tried all differant kinds of boots. for me the cheap one work. I don't know why?

I went to the Kaplans in Osseo, it was about a mile east of 169 behind the fleet farm if I remember right. Can't remember the road name it was on and they were tearing that whole area up . Maybe it was considered Brooklyn Center ?

+1. We have a boot truck come to where I work and I got Timberlands off it, and the guy said they were the lightest, most comfortable boot he sold and he was right.

I worked at the nuke plant in Red Wing last year and a lot of the maintenance guys and they swore by converse work boot. Draw back is they have to buy them online,Red Wings are nice but be careful and buy American made, I had a pair with the composite safety toe(china only) that the sole on the one boot completely came off after six months of use. apparently they are only glued on and not stitched.Red wing did cover them and I got a new pair but I shouldn't have to go back in every 6 months for that.

I work 8+ hrs a day on concrete and steel toes are required. I've owned many different brands and this is what I've concluded.

Sketchers, Nautilus, and converse can be very lightweight. I tried these in various tennis shoe styles. If your environment is dirty and wet these shoes dont hold up well.

Timberlands were uncomfortable in my opinion.

Catepillers were very heavy and uncomfortable.

I've found Red wings to be the best all around shoe, but the most expensive. I shy away from full size boots because I find them to be hotter. My current shoe has been my best so far. Red Wing 6672 oxford. Lightweight, durable, and comfortable. I havent even added an insole which is a first for me. I've had been living on dr. scholl's gellin' on top of a memory foam insole.

On a side note:

I would recommend an aluminum or composite toe to reduce weight. Invest in higher quality socks for added cushion and comfort.

If you dont need "steel" toes i would reccommend a composite or aluminum toe shoe. They still pass all "saftey toe" requirements.

I too work on concrete all day, I'm 6'6" and pushing 280, so there's plenty of weight on my feet.

I wear a pair of redwing slip on shoes with aluminum toe. I never thought the slip on would be comfortable, or durable. (Yet they are extremely durable and the elastic doesn't stretch out!) These shoes are light, comfortable with lots of cushion, and they are not Hot.

The best shoe is a light shoe, and its amazing how much weight is lost by not using a "steel" toe.

Great advice on the good socks. A couple of years ago when purchasing my boots the sales guy threw in a pair of $15 work socks. I thought to myself "nice gesture but I'm never going to buy $15 a pair socks for work, the $8 bag of tube socks is fine". Well I wore the good ones once and threw all my other socks away.

I now have a $100 worth of work socks and my feet couldn't be happier, plus they last about a year and a half so it's not that bad of an investment. You only get one pair of feet, take care of them. You'll appreciate it when you get older.

Red Wing boots are the way to go I work in Alaska in Prudhoe bay for 14 years and everyone up there wore Red Wing, Last forever, comfortable and if you get the insulated ones they still weren't to hot if you had the slip on ones. Very very comfortable and as far as I'm concerned you should be able to be able to get three years of very hard wear out of them and the support in the slip ons were great, water proof somewhat and kept your feet warm even at 40 below.

Red wings are great boots. Here is my two cents on boots. Price should really not be the pressing issue on buying them. If they are comfortable and last quite a few years, the price of the boot goes down the more years you own them. If you buy a cheap $50 pair and they are uncomfortable or find yourself buying new ones every year you really end up spending more money on a sub-par product. There are a few things that I don't chimp on when it comes to comfort, boots and warm clothes are my main two.

We also have the boot trucks show up at our place once a year. Red Wings are the best I've found so far. I get the same exact boot every year now. Composite toe is a must.

Danner makes a good boot, but Reds the best. I feel that the sock is definitely very important as well like has been said by others. I swear by medium cushion wool blends all summer long and into early winter. I am always picking up pairs of misfits when I go through Rogers. Can never have too many quality socks.
