SledNecks Twins Opinions

1. Delmon belongs in the cleanup spot and the 5th slot when Morneau comes back.

2. Danny V should be the everyday starting 3B

3. Cuddy will hit better in the rear of the line-up with less pressure on him

4. Carl Pavano will get serious Cy Young consideration

5. The Twins should do away with their Dark Alternate Jersey on the road, because the Grey road jerseys are BAD-A!

6. Repko looks pretty good in the OF

7. BAD year for the delmon haters

Until Morneau is symptom free or Delmon drops dramatically, I'd leave him in the 4 slot and bat Morny 5th. Puts a righty in between the lefty M&M's.

That's the nicest thing you have ever said about Cuddy Congrats!... grin And your best thread/post IMO... Nice work! You are actually making some solid points with out the normal one line cheap-shots or stroking Delmon fuzzys that you're known for. Hope to here more insight-fullness from you in the future.

Agreed. Nice post Sled. Some good thoughts. Spot on review by Pier also.

That said, I don't know if Delmon haters here is the right description for most of us, just a few cynics that were frustrated that he was not reaching his potential or even appearing that he cared to. This offseason changed all that, and Delmon appears to be everything we would have hoped for (defense aside). I am more than happy to accept that it is a tough year for us Delmon doubters. Did you ever accept it was a tough year for the Cuddy haters last year? smile

Lot of season left. Let's hope everything comes together and there is no one left to hate at the end of the season with everyone playing to their potential. The we can have one big forum group hug at the end of the World Series victory.

agreed

not a bad idea, agreed but I still like Punto, just not at the plate, the total opposite od Delmon who I hate in the field but like at the plate.

Agreed good points.

FYI - not sure why people think Delmon would be going anywhere. He has two more years of arbtration to go. Which may lead to the twins signing him to a multi year deal before the 3rd year ching. Same as they did with Mauer, Morneau, Cudduyer and others (including Harris).

IF Delmon hits .325 to .335 with 130+RBI and 25 HRs,,, you have to put him in the same league as Cabrea. Someone mentioned Josh Hamilton,, maybe,, but Miguel Cabrea is a legit chance to win the triple crown. Delmon had a bit of slow start,, but the sky is the limit him.

1. Delmon belongs in the cleanup spot and the 5th slot when Morneau comes back.

I'm Ok with Delmon batting 5, 6 or 7 when and if Morny comes back. He's on a tear right now and the guys in front of him are getting on base so it's not a major deal where he bats other than to appease some EGO's in here.

2. Danny V should be the everyday starting 3B

Great to see Danny get his 1st HR and snap out of his RBI slump. Gardy as is the case with his teams and players has done an amazing Job transitioning V into the line-up. Of course we'll know more when teams actually have a scouting report on Danny and his weakness's at the MLB level are exposed. He's NO Punto with the glove but he seems to be doing quite well. Hopefully he's our guy of the future.

3. Cuddy will hit better in the rear of the line-up with less pressure on him.

Definitely not a pressure thing with Cuddy as he wrote the book on preforming under pressure last season.

I think it's more to do with Cuddy being a lifetime .260-ish hitter with long hot and cold streaks and striking out a lot mixed in. He'll continue to bat 4th through 7th of course with his usual hot and long cold stretches.

That's just who he is and who he'll be.

I am a bit worried about him physically with all the work he's getting. He's pretty much the only player other than Delmon who is much younger and in great shape who hasn't had any time off. He'll have to suck it as we don't really have anyone to spell him at 1st base.

4. Carl Pavano will get serious Cy Young consideration.

I'll throw in MVP votes also. For the team anyway, with-out P's performance so far we're probably done. He along with the Obvious choices of Gardenhire and Young are the reason we are in this thing still!

5. The Twins should do away with their Dark Alternate Jersey on the road, because the Grey road jerseys are BAD-A!

100 Percent agreed. You read my mind again!

6. Repko looks pretty good in the OF

Pretty happy with him so far hopefully he can play left field for us someday... grin or Right field for that matter... smile

I'm just hoping he's the next great find that the Twins bring up through our top of line like know other farm system.

7. BAD year for the delmon haters

No doubt and it's not like it was an extraordinary prime for Cuddy anyway.

With so many variables and only a half season of all Star Type play under his belt it's hard to tell if or how many All Star Games Young will ever play in.

We can only hope for the best!

4. Carl Pavano will get serious Cy Young consideration

yes he is having a great year but i just dont see him beating out cliff lee, at least in this point in the season... cliff lee has been by far the best and most dominant pitcher in the AL thus far this season. also, king felix, CC and jered weaver are all having just as good, if not better seasons than pavano... i'm not downplaying anything pavano has done thus far this year, as a matter of a fact i am a huge pavano fan and have had him on my fantasy team since week 6 this year after i picked him up as a free agent and have absolutely loved seeing his value skyrocket in the fantasy leagues

Hmmm... I can't agree that Hernandez stacks up against Pavano. Granted, more K's and a few more innings pitched, but Pavano has fewer hits, 1/2 the walks, about the same number of ERs, one less loss, and SIX MORE WINS. That is a much better value to a team than getting a few guys to swing through your pitches.

Pavano also has four more wins than Weaver, fewer walks, not as many Ks, but close enough in all other categories. Again, I would give Pavano the edge.

Slight edge to CC (two less losses, very similar ERA, a few more Ks, but way more walks).

Cliff Lee and David Price are the only runaway vote getters for the AL Cy Young, but I am not counting Pavano out just yet. He can pitch with the best of them this year, and his head to head games against Halladay and Santana proved he can handle the pressure of a big stage or a "pitchers dual" without cracking at all.
