Padded deck..

Ok, ya-all know how much I love my BassCat.. its my baby.. But I had the pleasure of fishing with Cecil today as we filmed Video for Outkast Tackle on lake Minnetonka today. He lives closer, so we used his boat. Which by the way, we got the pleasure of working with the camera man for the Babe Winkelman show, which was very cool..

ANYWHO!!!! While I will never admit to Cecil to his face that his boat is cool. Its totally not.. I will admit, its by far the most comfortable boat to run at the T'motor.. Its got a padded floor.. fell in love with the padded floor.. want the padded floor.. Called SpearingBass(bassnspear) whom said it could cost $1200.. YIKES!!!! for only about 8 square feet of front deck.. from my ped seat forward.. had it been $500 I would have been there tomorrow..

SO.. has anyone ever added padded deck? If so, dont post any contact information, but just give the name of the place you had do it... OOOOORRR, as anybody added a product to the top of your carpet that was padded? So long as it looks nice, I would be totally into that too?

Thanks...

PS.... I didnt drop my 4.5lb fish, but Cecil did.. not saying, just saying.. Sorry bud... We probably would have had a 18ish 5 fish limit? Wasnt fantastic, but still a ton of fun.. Heat was not fun.. wind was not fun.. setting the hook=====Fun!

Dietz,

Same scenario happened to me. I have a pre-padded floor Ranger not about to spend that kind of money on the pad. There is a way around everything. I went and bought a pair of Croc Flip flops. I am telling you, I could stand for days in them and my floor is padded everywhere I walk. $14.95 at the Outlet in Albertville.

I also have a pair of Croc shoes that do not have holes for cold weather. They are not only padded but also warm.

Good idea.. shoes are nice.. I have the Shimano croc type shoes and are great.. But man I love to fish barefoot.. Thanks for the insight!

I cant do flip flops.. I have really flat feet, horribly flat.. and because of that, my heal fall off to the side of flip flops.. I know it sounds like a lame excuse, but if you saw how flat my feet were, you would understand.. My arches push the one side of the flip flops out and next thing you know, my heal is off the shoe..

I hate flip flops just plain not comfortable...1500 seems a little steep and im sure you could talk around to a few places and find a much better quote just not sure that is done on boats a whole lot. When you get padding under carpet though it is cheaper than the carpet so it should not be that hard to do...just get the carpet redone and ask for padding!

It takes me forever to find comfortable shoes. I tend to keep mine a long time when I do find a comfy pair. I've had my flip-flops for about 10 year (the right one is starting to fall apart), and my tennis and work shoes are both over 5 years old. I've been looking occasionally for new ones but I can never find any comfy ones (at least comfy ones that look appropriate).

I've never considered a padded deck before though, not sure how much it would help. I just need to remember not to step on the seat pedestal on those hot summer days. Always end up making the next few casts sitting with my feet dangling in the water.

I haven't tried these yet but I have some friends who use them for running when every other shoe gave them issues (flat feet, no arch etc.) I could see them being handy for casting and general t. motor duty. I also don't enjoy wearing shoes unless I have to. After having an incident involving my heel and a suick on the boat floor I've been trying to wear something on the feet. They sure look goofy but if it works, it works.

factory done, its less expensive, becuase they add it as they build them, but after the fact, the labor is the problem. Nitro had us do one to a older boat, its alot of work, and you have to take your time to make the new carpet look great.

Bro (DD) I have to tell you what my bride say's everytime I complain about my rig. And I quote " I think there are a whole lot of people who would love to be fishing out of an 07 Ranger, so I just don't have alot of sympathy for you"... I think the same can be said of a Bass Cat. When you coming up, I know a godd dogfish hole.
