SkunkedAgain
I was up at the VC (Vermilion Club) on Lake Vermilion this weekend and tried their cream cheese burger. Outstanding. It was a burger topped with cream cheese, bacon, and jalopenos if I remember correctly. It got me thinking of creative twists I could do with burgers and cream cheese. Then I thought about posting here. What are your favorite toppings to add to a home-made burger to make it different?

sparky27
Grilled pineapple, pepperjack cheese, and topped with your favorite salsa.
McGurk
Chopped and sauted onions, diced jalapenos, and blue cheese chunks mixed into the ground beef. Patty, grill, and enjoy! I've heard of guys grinding up a pound of bacon and mixing it in with 2 pounds of ground beef. Also, using a 1 to 1 ratio of ground sausage and hamburger works great. OnAFly
I mix chopped habenaro with 1/4 pineapple chopped and 1/4 red onion chopped. Simmer this in lemonade until most of the liquid is gone. Get your favorite BBQ sauce and pour the bottle in with the mix. Let this simmer for 15 minutes.Grill the rest of the pineapple (sliced) with your burgers (ground beef or elk, Worcestershire, bread, egg, and shallots)On the burger goes a slice of grilled pineapple and a good amount of that BBQ sauce. There's just enough heat to let you know there's a pepper in there somewhere, but not overwhelming. Made some up last night, very good! merkman
Avocado, Fried Onion, Bacon, Cheese BurgerMost of the time the actual meat of the burger is more important that the toppings though.Grilled buns are a definite plus and tots on the side put a smile on my face!! so haaad
A little off topic, but cream cheese and jalopenos are also outstanding with venison steaks. Prepare and make them similar to stuffed chicken breasts.

The ones from Sam's fried in a pan on an icehouse stove are my specialty. The guys on my trip beg for them every year. The heavy drinking before hand might have something to do with it too. Smashburger in Eagan and Burger Jones in Uptown. You can also get a "white trash burger" at Burger Jones topped with cheese curds and chicken fried bacon. No that isn't a typo - chicken fried bacon.Of course that isn't much help for someone that lives in Mapleton.

Windy City Walleye Hunter
Got to give props to the Pike Hole on Cass Lake, they have a burger called the Pike Holer that is mighty tasty. Half pound of top beef with apple cured bacon, avocado, swiss cheese and all the toppings and served with waffle fries. I have them run it through the garden and sit back with a pitcher of ice cold Leine's on tap. The only draw back it that the big screen usually has the Twinkies on instead of my beloved Pale Hose but what are you gonna do in upper Minnesota! meatfish
One year I ended up with(in trade for veggies from my garden) the fallowing ingredients that made the best burger combo I have ever eaten!2 lbs ground ribbeye(? as to why he ground it)5 lbs ground elk3 gallon bucket of morels2 lbs apple wood molasis cured bacon(chef cured)2 lbs of smoked gouda cheese1 jar of horseradish onions and peppers from the garden. We ran out of buns, onions, peppers and horseradish near the end so I made mine melt style on dark pumpernickel in garlic butter, and all I got to say is "dang oh dang hoot dang"Disclaimer:as with some of the posts here there may or may not have been some drinking of alcoholic beverages involved which may have effected the judgment and the actual outcome of these burgers!
