Mine is #3 as well. If I can't see whats on the bottom, then there's no point in getting there fast for me.

#3 for sure - I would be forced to fish what I have in front of me and there would be no reason to be in a hurry. I would probably fish better.

#4 for sure. There's simply too many ways to catch a fish to make this have a significant impact.

I was pulling #1 off for a while last year (not by choice), so while I enjoy my new toy, I could fish without it.

#2 is a must have for me. I think upgrading to a boat with a bow mount that was easy to control helped my catch rates out the most.

Losing #3 on a small lake wouldn't be a big deal (in fact I've fished a few days without starting the big motor before), but on a large lake there's noway I could go without it. Not to mention our TM doesn't quite have the power to move forward into a strong wind on the windy side of a lake.

i already do without the first 3 most of the time since i fish for a canoe... i still catch plenty of big bass

i'd way rather have my favorite lure/technique, since most of them don't require a depth finder trolling motor or big motor

I would have to say #3 as well. Had big big motor go twice, once on a lake and once on the river.

Just put the trolling motor down and went.

Got 1st. on the river and 2nd on the lake.

Also have a buddy who's motor go middle of the year last year and didn't have the $ to get it fixed. I think he caught 15 or 20 more Muskies after that.

yeah, i've seen many guys lose big motor and do well in tournament. The key is to deal with it and not let it get you down. Just put the trolling motor down and make the best of it. There are fish all over every lake. You just need to find what they are doing in that area.

I have been in that situation as well and have done well but I would not want to fish that way for the whole summer. You would not be able to fish the bigger lakes like Tonka.

In all honesty.. I fish tournaments because I think they are fun.. But really, could give them up tomorrow and really only be upset for a few days..

#3 for me. I have a 115 Merc which isn't really big by bassin standards, but I could definitely get by with a smaller motor. The lakes I fish are smaller and when I fish Mille Lacs I stick to the SE side.

i just think there are too man other ways you could get by with without a graph......flasher, paper maps, handheld GPS, lake chips, etc.

Nope, couldnt do it Larson.. Maybe in the spring I could.. But in the summer, Id rather have my graphes than rod and reel even.. I could hand line up before givin up the locator..

For sure, Deitz!! I think the worse thing to lose on that list is my trolling motor. I take that thing for granted, but without it, fishing plans really change.

I agree. You can tell which guys typically fish deeper and which ones fish shallower.
