funny how you say why live in the past and here you start talking about the Pats and how they won in the past.....did they even make the playoffs last year? I know they didn't the year before and if they made it last year well how did they do? I think you may be the only one in the world that looks back at the Vikes 2009 draft and say that Harvin wasn't a great pick!!! There isn't a team out there that wouldn't want him on there squad even with the headache issues.....yeah maybe you can't plan around him every week but the majority of the time he is on the field making plays and being an impact player!!

I'm not placing the blame on Harvin, but rather the suspect Vikings drafting skills who pick a player who never practices.

That may be the most hilarious response I have EVER seen on this site! It is quite telling though.....

Getting back to the draft, I think vikes gave up too much to get Gearhart. Don't know what the cost is to move up like that, but it seemed to be steep to take us out of the 3rd round. I wonder if a later pick could have been dealt. Don't get me wrong I like the pick (yeah I know I sound contradictory)but it gives the vikes a change of pace at RB. I hope they can get some good value today getting some help at oline, dline, and maybe get a qb. Looks like there will be a glut of qb's in the last rounds that Chilly could develop.

What is up with Edwards? I thought I heard the Vikes were shopping him around but they couldn't because he didn't sign offer sheet? Is there a problem with he and the Vikes? I thoughtg he played pretty good last season to compliment Allen.

Gerhart has the potential to be a starting caliber running back after a year of seasoning. The Vikes will have a nasty and physical 1-2 punch now at RB.

The Vikes did very well with that pick. My bet is they go O-line or D-line with the second pick today.

This draft appears to be all about next year and making Favre happy with it.

Spielman-Childress definitely do a nice job in the draft.

Everyone knows Harvin and Loadholt were excellant picks last year. Except LMIT laugh

I love the Gerhart pick, but we gave a lot to move up. Conversely, when we traded down from the first round, we didn't get much in return.

I like the players, I'm just not sure that Spielman negotiated the trades well. It sure would have been nice to get a guard or center with the 3rd round pick we gave up.

Someone may have mentioned this earlier but...having picks in the 1st,2nd and 3rd rounds in what is to be considered a very deep draft and walking away with only Cook and Gerhart from those three picks....very questionable at best. shocked

I see they've added Griffen (DE) from USC today...nothing yet on the O-line.

I agree 100%. Now we have another big athletic O-lineman (albeit a huge project) and another special teams caliber linebacker who gives us needed depth.

Spielman and Childress have a very good team put together for drafting.

I think the trade down and trade up worked well.

They filled needs nicely for another Play-off run.

Favre will like it and be back smile

They got 8 bodies to work with anyway....not sure any of them will make big headlines this year. Maybe Gerhart...hand it to him and watch the dbacks get flattened. grin I watched part of one of Stanfords games...he was running over guys all day. Put AP and Gerhart in the same backfield, and let defenses guess which one is carrying the ball... while Brett tosses it to Harvin or Rice. grin. It will be interesting what they do with Webb...wildcat? or receiver? He must be a great athlete, he played WR,QB, and was a great runner too.

IMO they didn't address their biggest need in the draft which was improving the OL. Maybe O Sullivan and Loadholt will be improved but they need to do a better job of opening up holes for the running game so Brett doesn't have to throw so much.

IMO, if the Vikes can draw out the effort and talent of Griffen and Cook this will be a great draft class. Picking Griffen is what turned their draft around a little. Griffen, when he wants to, is a mid-first round guy and one heck of a football player. I would imagine being in the same group and classroom with the likes of Allen, and the Williams boys will keep him working hard.

Webb is an absolute "freak of nature" kid and could potentially be an unbelievable wide-out. He finished first in almost every measurable category for wide-outs at the combine. Great pick in the 6th round...a true project that may take a few years but may be worth the wait. Wildcat option as well and could be an elite return man with his speed (4.3/4.4). The kid is almost 6'4 and 225 lbs. Can't wait to see what they may have in store for him.

They must really like what they have on the o-line because they sure didn't go out of their way to adress it. It will also be interesting to see who they sign as a QB as a free agent. Snead????

I agree that offensive line was our biggest need. I sure would have liked to seen us draft a center. You can't run the ball when your center is getting pushed back 3-5 feet every play.

We may need a middle linebacker too. I'm sure the Vikings aren't considering it, but I did wonder what type of a middle linebacker Griffen could develop into. Good size and speed. I don't know if he has the instincts of a middle linebaker. It was just a thought.

I think Gerhart will surprise people how well he plays as a rookie.

It was really interesting that the Vikes drafted two linebackers yet don't have plans to play either at the spot. The kid from Rutgers is comming in as a fullback and the only word on Triplett is he's going to have to be a special teams ace to make the team.

R.J. Archer of William & Mary

I see they also signed Perilioux from Jacksonville State. He used to be the starter for LSU before he was booted from the team for personal conduct reasons.

Griffen is a pure DE. no way he's going to transition to playing mike, maybe he could play will or sam positions. maybe. Even then it'd be better in a 34 defense, not 43. you very rarely see DE's translate to inside linebacker spots, especially in 43
