Twins moves

Twins signed OF Jacque Jones to a minor league contract.

He'll also receives an invitation to Spring Training. Jones, who turns 35 in April, hasn't appeared in the major leagues since 2008 with the Marlins, but played well with the Newark Bears of the Atlantic League. A former second-round pick, Jones spent the first seven years of big league career in Minnesota. The .277/.326/.448 lifetime hitter will hope to catch on as an extra outfielder.

Mets claimed OF Jason Pridie off waivers from the Twins.

The maneuver clears room on Minnesota's 40-man roster for Orlando Hudson. Pridie, a former second-round pick of the Rays in 2002, has a .276/.319/.425 batting line over eight minor league seasons. The 26-year-old speedster has had a couple brief stints with the Twins, but has yet to record his first major league hit. He'll function as insurance for the Mets' center field situation.

Jacque Jones! Now we need to get the band back together with Torii Hunter.

I always liked Jacque, though he had his share of K's. Funny how it seems he was just here a year or two ago and it's been what, four years?

The best JJ memory is when he finally got a hit of Buerlehehle

and he asked JJ if he wanted the ball.

thats funny right there.

It will be interesting to see if he makes it back to the big ball club. I think he would have a long road ahead of him to get there, but if people get hurt, he might get a chance to play on the new turf!

It was a great move to get rid of Jones. He and Hunter had no patience at the plate. When they got rid of him and inserted Mauer, Hunter could see what happens when you actually chose a pitch to hit instead of giving them all a try.

Cicada,

You just made my day.....coined a new phrase I love. "giving them ALL a try" .LOL. A left fielder on the twins fits that to a TEE.

I think JJ was just an insurance policy in case of injuries this year. They don't have any big league ready outfielders in the minors right now. I sure hope we don't see him up though.....good personality, NO arm, HAD wheels, but he's 35!

Ah, Bobby Kielty. I remember him facing Santana at the dome and his swing was well past the plate before the Santana changeup got into the picture from the first base dugout camera. A swing that would have made J Jones proud.

What happened was that when the Twins signed Orlando Hudson, they waived Jason Pridie because of the 40 man roster limit. Pridie was our minor league outfield emergency backup (since Go-Go is gone-gone). But the Mets picked up Pridie on waivers. So, we need another minor league emergency outfielder, just in case. Of course, the Twins frequently pick up some old, washed up dude after spring training. This year we just did it a bit earlier, and with a guy we have some history with. If he still has some arm, bat, and wheels, he might see a little action in The Show. But mostly, he's an insurance policy. And he is also Mr. Leadoff Homer Dude!

Ah, yes. And I remember Torii of LAA facing Nathan in the 9th for the first time, here at home. Joe smoked him inside and broke the little guy's bat, right at his fists. Joe didn't even try to hide that smirk. I was at that game. Very cool crowd reaction.
