Am I forgetting anything on my new boat order

I am going to be finalizing the order for my new boat this week. I think I have everything added that I want but before it leaves the factory.

Is there anything I am missing?

Yikes.. got any picts? What colors did you choose?.. Did you add or want to add any lighting(livewell or rod storage?)

The only things I can see are:

Remote oil fill

Retractable mooring line on front/rear

Flush mooring cleats front/rear on both port/starboard sides

I had to add aftermarket cleats and lines on my current ranger.

The colors are mainly Red Mist ,Performance White, Platinum Mist, Ash Capet with Charcoal Seats with Imperial Red inserts. Trailer is Black Armour with Red Mist fenders. My truck is a very similar red.

I did get the remote oil fill and the cleats but not the mooring line. I had one on a 520 and many problems with it. Replaced it 3 times. Mine also has a safety ladder.

I will post some pics when I get it. It is supposed to be finished at the factory mid-late Feb and I will be picking it up at the dealer in Kansas I purchased it through late March. It is also a Marina so we will get to make sure everything works and maybe sneak in a day or two of fishing. Getting excited!!!

PS. I currently have HB electronics and my console mount is a 997 on a gimble. It only has a SI ducer so when I am running on plane I only use it as GPS but I have a in dash 787C with the through the hull ducer that I use for graph purpose when I am running. I am wondering if I will have the same problem with the HDS8?

I am sure you will Pherris... I have a 997 with a vex for when I am running and if I want a good bottom reading at the same time as when I'm looking at my SI.

Sounds like an awesome rig! You'll have to post up some pics when you get it for sure! Sounds to me the only thing missing from your list is a tank of gas and an open lake!

Why only 1 power pole? I've been told by guys that have 1 they wished they'd bought the 2nd one at the same time.

On the power pole you are the 2nd person to mention that. I only fish shallow about 20-30% of the time. Does anyone that has power poles have an opinion on this? I would love to hear it. Thanks again for the responses.

The second power pole will prevent you from spinning and needing to keep hitting the trolling motor to keep you straight and not drifting the bow into the spot you're fishing.

Make sure you have a boat and motor cover for that gem!

If it doesnt already have a digital mercury smartcraft gauge I would add that as well.

I would also get an interlink for both of your graphs to sync together.

You should not have any problem with reading at high speed because they will (should) rig it with the structure scan and a high seed skimmer to the one unit.

You can do the same with your HB with a $20 Y cable that when you lose bottom with the SI ducer it switches to the skimmer.

I have the y cable on my boat.. when running at speed I just flip the switch to the thru hull ducer..

Nice purchase Pherris!! I have heard many mixed reviews on the Fortrex motors though. I know a few guys that would trade it for their old Maxxum in a second.

I have heard the same thing cecil, but I dont wish my current 101 maxxum on anyone... I still might get a fortrex unless I can keep my maxxum from completely falling apart.

What problems are you having with your maxxum?

This is the only maxxum out of 3 that I have owned where anything has gone wrong. So they are very good trollers, but this one has some issues with pins in the footpedal and the pin through the scissor mount constantly poping out. Before I take her out this year I am gonna try an figure something strong enough to hold them in... Plus I have to remember to get rid of that stupid circuit breaker before I get on the rivski again!

The only problem I have is the pin that holds the scissor mount. The little plastic keepers come out or break all the time. I think I'm going to have some brass ones made.

Thanks for all the replies. The electronics are networked and you do not need another unit or switch. I guess it is all there with the HDS-8. I am going to stay with just one power pole for now as it is something that is an aftermarket so if I decide I need it I can add it instead of paying for it and not needing or using it.

I went with the Opti Pro XS only because I have had 2 others and have been very happy with them. The smart gauge is standard with the XS and another reason I like the opti. I am sure the new 250 hso is a great motor but I am a "stick with what you know" kinda guy.

I did add an extra pro pole/butt seat. So I think that is all folks. Now as the old song goes "waiting is the hardest part"

I agree on the mooring line. Mine was a waste of $$.

Have you considered adding the 2nd trim for the plate? Maybe you are already getting that?

Also, what about a tilt steering wheel? I only ask because you are getting the HDS8 in dash. I have not sat in the boat you are ordering. But, when I look at the unit I would want to be able to see the entire thing including the buttons on the bottom of that unit. When you sit behind the wheel, can you see the whole thing without leaning too far forward? Just a thought.

Hey Central. The reason I got it through the Kansas dealer is that was the best deal. I have shopped around and a local dealer that I have dealt with in the past could not come within 5K of the price I got with the options I wanted. It was all about money. I will post pics when I get them. Thanks
