Again, you outstate people should have insisted on being included in the added tax to pay for this, then maybe you'd have had a say.

It was a SALES tax increase, not a property tax increase. So any Tom, Richard and Harry in the metro, whether they live there, or Arizona for that matter spending one nickel on anything other than clothes and medicine paid the tax. I bet 75% of all the business at the MOA is from outstater and out of staters and they are paying that tax as well. I lived in the cities for 2 years and you and everyone else knows once you live up there you avoid that place like the plague- but it sure draws in out of towners

I'm just wondering what they're going to use this stadium for the other 285 days in the year! NCAA basketball tournaments, hockey, snowmobile races, ice fishing contests, by now you know where I'm going with this.

Don't worry, people will be wanting a new place in less than 20 years, than complain about having to pay for it cuz the owners are tightwads. Me and everyone else that contributed one penny to the cost of that place won't see a check in the mail every month from the money it makes- the Pohlads will. They should have flipped the bill for every piece of limestone, glass, toilets, sinks and light bulbs it took to build that place.

I didn't realize some many people cared for watching sports in that glorified toilet bowl called the Metrodome. Baseball was almost unwatchable in the dome as far as I am concerned.

I have taken a tour of Target Field and it in an incredible building. I don't know how you couldn't enjoy a game there even if it was drizzling. Once people attend a game there they will have a different view of the place. If not that will make tickets easier to come by for the rest of us.

Winning baseball will also go a long way to keeping that stadium full and the Twins seem to be doing their part by beefing up the payroll significantly.

I didnt mind the Dome at all for baseball, or football. With just a few upgrades it would have been a nice stadium again. Although I do enjoy outdoor sports, I just dont enjoy it when it is 30 degrees, or raining, or snowing, or when it is 95 and sunny. I also dont like driving to a game, then have them cancel it.

I have been to one game in Kansas City, the Place is awesome, but it was mid 90's that day, and it was so hot, and there was no air moving around. All I could think of was, I am sure glad we get to play in the Dome where it is always 70 degrees and no sun burn.

And yet the Royals have been player there since 1971. They love their ballpark and are not bioching about puting a roof on it. Go figure.

I can't believe all the complaining I am hearing about the new stadium! Are you guys kidding me? You live in Minnesota! The weather sucks here sometimes! You should be used to it by now. I had never been to an open air stadium before until opening day of the gopher football season. Weather was super hot, stagnant, no breeze, muggy, etc. Guess what? I loved it! Next game, 25 degrees, wind, and snow...loved it! Next game, 40's and rain, and you guessed it, I loved it!

If you go to the game and it's too cold, wear long john's and trade the beer for a hot chocolate. If it's too hot and sunny, bring the sunblock and go shirtless with flip flops on. I think this new stadium is something that can make the players play better. I'm looking forward to a really exciting season this year.

Metrodome was a horrible & sterile place to watch baseball. About the only things it had going for it, besides it's controlled climate, were the noise factor in playoffs and the white ceiling for concealing pop flies.

Ever sit between third base and the foul pole in the lower deck? You need a 30 minute neck massage afterwords. I think it was horrible for college football too, but it seems best suited for Vikings games. Not a great facility for that either, but I think it would be okay if they spiffed it up a bit.

Yes. those seats are awful!!

I was really excited once after I bought tickets between the dugout and the twins bullpen, like 10 rows up. It was the worst, most uncomfortable game I ever went to. Never made that mistake again.

Honestly, the weather doesnt bother me. I just got back from a snowmobile ride. I ice fish when it is -30. What bothers me is the players cant play in non perfect weather. If it is snowing, cancel the game, windy, cancel the game, below 30, cancel the game, if it is lightly raining, cancel the game, there is lightning, cancel the game.

Look at it from my stand point. I buy 5 tickets to the game 2 weeks in advance, really good seats. Gameday is here. The forecast calls for 30% chance of rain. Hmm.. now do I take off work early, drive 60 miles, and spend an hour and a half driving there, to hope they wont cancel the game. More then likely, I wont gamble, and keep my $300 and just watch them on TV, and not bother buying tickets?

I am sure I am not the only person to feel this way.

With the ability to instantly look at both actual and forecasted weather radar loops the ability to predict a rain-out a few hours in advance is fairly good. Plus its not like they don't cover the field and delay the start of the game to wait the rain out.

I have tickets for 10 Twins games this year. I'm sure a game or two may be delayed or possibly rained out. Same thing happens on fishing and hunting trips though. I don't stay home because they are forecasting less than ideal weather. I dress appropriately and tough it out. Use that closet full of Gortex & Thinsulate!

I can watch them on the tube. I really enjoy watching the Twins at the ballpark but I will not go with any type of bad weather.

This first season, they should have great attendance. Lets see in year three and four.

I am not looking to tough it out at a game but rather enjoy the bright day or nice cool summer evening.

I am sure if they could have found the funding, the roof would be there. No way did I want to help pay for it as the players and owners are well enough of to take care of that.

Open air all the way.

I expect a slightly higher number of rain/snow outs than we would have had last year if the dome didn't have a roof.

There would have been ZERO games canceled due to weather last year if we played out-side.

I understand the pampered world we live in today but I want to get back to old school type of fans like the Twins and Vikes of yester-year vesus the corporate lower key fans of today.

From 1961 to 1981, the Twins averaged between three and four rainouts a year. The highest number of rainouts in a season (or snow-outs) was seven.

Although it may seem like there are a lot of cancelled games, it's far from the truth. Less than 5% on average.

Let's look at it a different way. I have no problems renting a cabin on a lake for a week with the risk of bad weather, nor do I expect the DNR to put a roof over part of the lake to ensure that I have good weather because it's simply not a good way to spend my tax dollars. I'm willing to take the risk that I'll get some good weather for my seven days, and I might get a rainout or two. If I buy tickets for a week's worth of Twins games, why should I expect anything different?

You cant compare fishing and baseball. I will fish in the rain, I will fish in the snow, I dont like fishing in the wind, but I will. And if I go on a trip for a week, I could care less if one day is bad, or even two, because I am there to relax and fish. If I make a special trip to the cities to watch a baseball game, and cant, well then I wasted a trip there. Because that would be the only reason I went there.

I wasnt saying the fans were pansies, it is the players! Football players play in snow, cold, rain, wind, why cant baseball players?

I wasn't really replying to anything you said it was just typical mumble jumble on my part, at work, while killing the clock.. smile

Go Twins... I do feel for the fans that have to travel a ways and that they may a bad time due to weather issues.

But like stated above there isn't going to be a roof added it just isn't logistically possible at this point.

And like stated above we won't have many if at all, total game cancellations. None last year if we played outside.
