Mudcutter
Let's be honest. Without #4 this year, this team is lucky to make the playoffs and likely goes 9-7 or 8-8. #4 made Sidney an All-Pro receiver, Shincoe better and the whole team better.Adrain had a down year,, (and still makes ALL-Pro) what if no #4??? One bad choice out of many he made right, ,, one bad choice,, thou people love to bash when wrong, and jump on ship when winning.#4 always had my respect for the PACK,, (never forget the game Randle had him in more pain than yesterday, and the dude still came in to play). The dude is the reason the Vikes got as far as they did,, so for all who like to blame him for the loss,, do you really think the Vikes would have gone any further than OT in the NFC title game on the road without him??The Silver Fox will hunt again. harvey lee
The Vikes would have had a terrible season without brett.I hope like you know what that Brett will come back and give us another fun season to watch.Hopefully with a better ending. BeezeHound
No way the vikes do what they did this season without him. That loss can not be placed solely on his shoulders either, hang on the friggin ball AD, Harvin and Berrian. 12 men in the huddle isn't his fault either, just too many mistakes to try and over come for a game of the magnitude. fishersofmen
Man he has got to feel like crud today. (physically) I can't imagine how he is even going to get out of bed. Probly worth it for 12 mil though.
dillrodd
my guess is that he has plenty of millions and i doubt that its very much about the money with him. I bet your right about him feeling like crud though. I hurt and all I did was watch
lawdog
I agree he carried this team through much of the season and he was NOT the reason we lost last night. Yes the INT at the end was a bad play but we had no business even being in that position. The FUMBLES killed us! Lets also not forget if we didn't come out of the T.O. with 12 guys in the huddle he wouldn't have needed to try to pass there. How stupid was that???!!!! Jmnhunter
just asinine to think we could have done this without Favre, not his problem at all; great game, hope to see him back next year. I would find it hard for Him to swallow the last throw of his career being a Int!
RumRiverRat
He went Gunslinger on us.He needs to retire for good.
rayguy
We would of been 9-7 without #4. Be glad we got to see him during one of his best seasons. Watching his wife fret all during the game she knows it is over. And all us married guys know mama usually knows best. I hope he retires, because with our O line he will get hurt next year. Great Take.......Didn't miss anytime this year with a 1st year starting center and a rookie right tackle. O-line probably will be worse next year. gregg52
i think he got us to the playoffs but also his decision to throw that last ball i'm not blaming him for the lost but that has to eat at him i believe he has one more year in him
james_walleye
He went Gunslinger on us.He needs to retire for good. He also held this team together and kept them in a game they had no business staying in. 12 men on the field, makes me want to throw up. Most likely Longwell sends us to Miami from 50 yards. Cooter
A copy/paste from ESPN - don't think this guy is a Favre fan:A pundit lists the 10 worst passes in playoff historyMon, Jan 25 12:30PM ET by David SchoenfieldBrett Favre gambled yet again on Sunday, throwing an extremely risky pass at the end of regulation in the NFC Championship Game.Saints cornerback Tracy Porter intercepted the pass, depriving the Vikings a chance to attempt a long field goal for the win. But where does Favre's gaffe rank among the pantheon of terrible postseason passes?10. Matt Hasselbeck, Seahawks, 2004 divisional playoffs. "We want the ball and we're gonna score!" Oops. Interception.9. Neil O'Donnell, Steelers, Super XXX. Two perfect throws -- to Cowboys cornerback Larry Brown.Ronald Martinez/Getty Images8. Joe Theismann, Redskins, Super Bowl XVIII. Attempted screen pass to Joe Washington. With 12 seconds left in the first half. From their own 12-yard line. The Redskins had successfully run the same play against the Raiders in the regular season. Not this time. Jack Squirek sniffed out the play and returned it for a touchdown that put the Raiders ahead 21-3.7. Pretty much any pass by Jim Kelly in his four Super Bowls.6. Probably a pass by Jake Delhomme.5. Brian Sipe, Browns, 1980 AFC divisional playoffs. Red Right 88. The Browns were in range for a game-winning field goal but attempted one final pass, which Oakland intercepted in the end zone.4. Garo Yepremian, Dolphins, Super Bowl XII. Don't let your kicker throw the ball.3. Brett Favre, Packers, 2004 NFC divisional playoffs. The one to Brian Dawkins in overtime.2. Brett Favre, Packers, 2007 NFC Championship Game. The other one in overtime.1. Brett Favre, Vikings, 2009 NFC Championship Game. The single worst pass in NFL history. Congratulations, Gunslinger! james_walleye
Number 6 and 7 pretty much proves that this guy has zero credibility. Probably a pass by Jake Delhomme? Give me a break.
mnwild
I dont blame Favre at all, there were many more mistakes in the game. As for the last INT. We will never know what play was called, was it run or pass. In my mind when you have the ball on the 40 and its 3rd & 12 (was it) usually you run the ball for 5 yrds up the middle and that would of put Longwell in FG range.I want to say Chilly called a pass play and Favre didnt change the call. Favre is smarter than that knowing it should be a run play vs a pass.
james_walleye
They tried to run the ball up the middle twice from the 33 and got zero. Now they are at the 38 yard line after the 12 man penalty. The play called for Favre to roll with Berrian and the option in the flat his first 2 options. In hindsight, ya run up the middle and get what you can and let Longwell swing away. But at the time i was calling for them to get aggressive and get that ball to about the 25 yard line. I dont think from the 38 you can settle for a run up the middle. How do you settle for a 55 yard FG?
zepman
You don't and can't...that's why the biggest mistake of the whole game was the 12th man...it completely changed what their FINAL play of the game was going to be.
