The Real Reason The Vikes Lost To The Bears

Normally I will not call out anyone after a loss, but my finger is pointed at Ryan Longwell and Chris Kluwe wink

You guys can sit and blame Peterson, but if our kicking team would have got that extra point (how many missed extra points does Longwell have this year? smirk ) there would have never even been OT wink I can forgive a long missed field goal, but the extra point?

I guess some can say (and very easy to do sitting at home on the couch or in front of the PC) the Vikes played horrible, but it also can be said the Bears played very good (for once). smile Maybe it is some what like a glass half empty type thing grin

I liked what i saw last night. Sure we did not win, had a slow scoring first half, but IMO the Bears where playing at a caliber they have not seen for awhile. Culter has been just pounded in the press. Even in the last week the Bears orig. has been the butt of jokes and comments about dishing up for him. Cutlers future as a Bear was at stake last (IMO). They played good ball.

It was the long snapper, c'mon! grin

Love the vikes, but this team really is just not that good, IMO. Lucky catch against the 49ers, and two wins against GB with key players out. The bears stayed in the game with how many other key players out? 3/4 secondary was backups, no hester. So more than just longwell missing. 11 wins, but could be closer to 8 & 7 then 11 - 4

Uh the extra point was not longwell's fault, cause the holder bobbled it!!! and the Vikings had 9 lives last night to win and used them all. It was just a [PoorWordUsage] pour attempt first half, and ever since the dumb [PoorWordUsage] owner extended childresses contract we have done nothing! Our real fault is our pass coverage, defense, and special teams. There is only so much to ask from Farve and i'm surprised he gave the Vikes every chance to win, but they just couldn't do it. They really deserved to lose that game anyways!

Cunningham sound familiar. I know Ziggy is the new owner but you think he could learn from someone else's mistake. That goes for hiring the same dumb coach too that Ziggy has.

The real reason they lost is because of our terrible offensive line and our terrible secondary on defense. Also there could be a claim of poor play calling, especially in the first half and in OT. We have progressively gotten worse every week IMO. The guys look worn out, which is very common w/ some players at this point in the season. One and done. Hope I'm wrong. grin

(Good to see you back shack!!).

Regardless of why or who caused the loss last night...without Favre, this team get's routed by 35+ on a Monday night!

Our defense, as a whole, is vastly overrated. Worse yet, they are a cocky bunch who apparently doesn't learn from past mistakes.

Favre can keep us in any remaining game we play this year...no matter where the game is played...our defense is flat out embarrassing right now.

Bears put up 36 on Prime Time T.V....Nice effort guys!! sick

I disagree on the extra point being the reason. The Bears would have went for 2 on their last 2 touchdowns to get it back to 7 and probably would have made it a 7 point game quite easily.

My reasons are in order..

We peaked to early.

We have 2 rookies and an injured perennial Pro Bowler on the O'line.

We have our starting middle line-backer and Pro Bowl Corner injured. One being out for the year.

AP is IMO also injured and is not even close to the back he was the last 2 years. Yes some of that is O'line related but you can just tell he's not right.

We're not getting enough pressure on the QB. Allen has been missing in action for at-least a month.

I could go on and on but in a nutshell the NFL is a cruel game you not only have to be good but you have to be lucky in this day and age of parity in the league.

You can't say anything about Injury when Chicago is decimated with it. We have hardly any, and Chicago is on 3rd string guys in some positions, with 2 more that Monday night game.

Carolina is much worse off with injuries than the Vikes also. We've been told that one of the strengths of this Viking's team IS their depth. I don't buy the injury excuse...it's week 16-17 in the NFL...join the club on that one.

I think everyone is missing the obvious reason.

I thought the game was a tale of two halves. It was almost like Favre and Chilly made a deal. Chilly would run the offense like he would in the first half. (simple, tight formations, PREDICTABLE) and like Favre would like in the second half (spread out, ball distribution).

Did anyone else notice how well we ran the ball from a 3 wide sets in the 2nd half? How did we run the ball from a balanced set in the first half, horrible!

The one thing I really took from this game is that they built some momentum in the 2nd half. They got their offense back! We need to go 3 wide EVERY PLAY! As we saw, even on the goal line! No more jumbo packages, and tight 2 wide formations!

I don't know what to say about the defense except the offense better be able to score 40 in any game!

and in response to PierBridge. We DO NOT HAVE THE MOST INJURIES IN THE LEAGUE! We really are healthy for the most part. Yeah, Winfield, Williams, Henderson, Harvin, Shianco, are either dinged up or out (henderson). but that isn't any different than any other team in the league.

Look at chicago in that game. list the players that were out. Urlacher, Peanut tillman, 2 starting safety, their stud d-lineman (forgot name). We cannot blame these loses on injuries.

One thing that I firmly believe about the NFL is this. Yes there are some physical FREAKS, but only a small handful. For the most part they all have real talent, and if coached up right for the game AND specific situations within each game (some situations that may only come once a season) and player can be really productive if they're confident they can do it.

Haven't we learned anything from the Pats. They basically played with a bunch of scrubs. But they were smart scrubs and they won a superbowl or two right?

Maybe I could have worded it better and I'm not blaming the loss on injuries if you read the entirety of the post. The offensive line in general and not being able to run the ball is the main reason IMO.

I do find the KFAN slash frustrated fans lame and typical excuse of blaming it on chilli again laughable at best.

I know the casual fan thinks you can just have Favre throw the ball 50 times a game and things will be hunky dory but that's fantasy land stuff and this is the NFL.

You have to try and run the ball, protect it and your QB along with controlling field position and work the clock.

It's not Madden on the X-Box folks... grin

You guys can continually blame Chilli for all of this as is the norm...BUT the reason we were shut out in the first half was because of a lack of execution by the players on the field and had ZERO to do with Darrel Bevels play calling....

So go ahead a blame it on Chilli and have a happy new year.. grin

grin

I stated to a few when we were up fishing this weekend that the Vikes would lose. They simply are not that great and they seem to not be playing their better game.

It will be very tough to make it to the NFC championship games.

I just don't believe a team playing as poorly as the Vikes can just flip the switch and become a great contender.

I wish them the best but I do not see them going far.

Yup Chilli !!! Keep the same playbook for 3 years and see what happens. Seems like he just shows up for the game and watches what the other team is running and then asks Farve what he's been seeing and then makes changes after the game is half over. Chilli watch the tapes and get some new plays. The Saints playbook is unreal, ours is still the same old run plays. And Chilli Peterson can't run up the middle when you setup the line like it is a goal line play. Arghh I just can't believe the owner extended his contract mid season like that!
