Pheasants Forever?

Recommended Posts

My membership with PF isn't necessarily for my benefit but for the benefit of the pheasants and other wildlife. After saying that I also must admit that part of my motivation is personal and perhaps a bit self serving. I enjoy hunting pheasants and I can't do that around here unless there are pheasants around. PF has done and continues to do a lot for pheasant habitat preservation, which I benefit from because I have pheasants around to pursue in the fall and this motivation enough for me to remain a member.

I recieved a gift card for 5 bucks from them, for nothing. If I join I get another 25 bucks gift card, so 30 bucks total, to join its only 30 bucks, or should I say free this year. the first 5 bucks is mine if I join or not, I think I will join them, and sign on.

Very well said everyone You do get to see were your money goes. The gift cards are for GanderMT Right??

Also try Rooster Lager its new beer out where they donate the money for wildlife. the founder of the beer is also a member of Pheasants forever which he opened the chapter in Hendricks MN, where the beer is founded.

The best part of PF is that all the money made locally stays with the chapter and they can decide what they want to do with it. Thousands of acres have been improved with these funds, land has been bought and donated back to the state for public hunting, and hundreds of kids are given a chance at going on a hunt every year. The local chapters can really make a difference to the availability and success folks have in their area.

The magazine has a lot of informative articles about a wide variety of subjects - working with the dog, habitat work that can be done, all sorts of things.

Finally PF has a large presence in Washington and does a lot of work to try and keep programs like CRP and CREP funded.

It's worth the money to join and if you're of a mind getting involved with the local chapter gives you a chance to meet folks and get as involved in projects as you want.

Also keep in mind that with the passing of the 3/8% increase in sales tax last year, there will be substantial dollars available for matching grants for organizations like pheasants forever. This will basically double the dollars they make from banquets, raffles, etc. So your memership dollars are going farther than ever before. They are a fantastic organization who puts money into the ground locally, which benefits all wildlife. I am a proud member, and I rarely hunt pheasants.

Do you have any more info about this? I found their HSOforum but there is not a lot of info about the beer and where to purchase it.

Well at the grand opening of the PF chapter in Hendricks Jason (founder/owner of the beer) had a small keg there for us to try and he said it would be hitting the stores late October. I went to West Side Liquor in Brainerd and saw a Pheasant Forever sticker in the window, so i went looking for Rooster Lager and i found it.

So BIG DAVE2 sorry i didnt really answer any of your questions.

Hopefully around Thanksgiving i will know more!

I really enjoy our local chapter of PF. Steele county didn't have a chapter until approx 1 year ago. Actually got involved thru another member her on FM. Was really fun getting involved with it. Am a Youth Co-chair. Would recomend this organization to everyone. Well worth the time and money.

knoppers - did you use the card at Gander? I got the $5 gift card and will get the $25 when I join, but I think it is only for PF Marketplace. My card has a rooster on it facing to the right with the PF logo in the upper left an orange "$5" to the right.

Short answer is that it depends on what card you got in the mail. PF sent out 500,000 mailing with the $5 cards. 10,000 of those are marked and if the person responds they will get a card for the PF Marketplace. The rest will get cards for Gander.
