Packers vs Vikings

LOTW, it was a mixed greeting. Lots of boos and lots of cheers. I'd say the boos won out, though not by much. Boos always sound louder because everyone is making the same noise, while cheering is lots of different words/shouts.

Darn glad they came back and made a game of it instead of an embarrassment. Goes to show you what can happen when the O line puts up a fight.

Down 5 and chance to be The Man, Rogers leads the Packers to a missed field goal.

Five down and with a chance to be The Man, Rogers once again proved that even an excellent quarterback can't overcome the combination of tight coverage and an offensive line that doesn't protect him.

Yeah, I'm biased, but Favre wouldn't have won today with that Packer team around him if he was still wearing the green.

Anyone else baffled at our team's play in 3rd quarters? How do we lose such focus? Or is it that opposing coaches are making adjustments that we are just a little late catching up to?

The Vikes stunk it up so bad in the 3rd quarter I turn it off.

I cannot watch a team play that poorly.

They just plain and simple got out coached in the third.

Dang Rodgers is a solid QB when they in that offensive scheme they were running in the 3rd quarter. In the first half he just held the ball too long, complete DOMINATION in the first half by the Vikes.

Harvin is just plain awesome. Favre is the man, Jerred is just plain scary, The O-line does great at pass blocking but are below avg runblockers.

I don't get how the Vikes can get out played that badly in the 3rd quarter. The offense was ok but the D was just plain terrible. I was honestly worried for a second. But the Vikes pulled through for another W in a a big venue!!! A much needed week off(for my blood pressure) lol!!!!! Now 3 straight at home, 10-1 sounds doable.

I wonder how McCarthy, Ted Thompson, and our own Fran Tarkenton feel after the game.

Here was one of Fran's rants before he signed with the Vikes.

"I think it's despicable. What he put the Packers through last year was not good. Here's an organization that was loyal to him for 17, 18 years, provided stability of organization, provided players. It just wasn't about Brett Favre. In this day and time, we have glorified the Brett Favre's of the world so much, they think it's about them. He goes to New York and bombs. He's 39 years old. How would you like Ray Nitschke in his last year (playing for) the Vikings, or I retire, and go play for the Packers. I kind of hope it happens, so he can fail."

I think the vikes better keep #41 (Paymah)on the side lines. Anytime the ball was thrown in his zone, he looked like a high school kid out there with little effort and hardly close to the ball. Some times his tackling ability looked non existent also. They should get Asher Allen in there, yea he had a penalty but he looks aggressive and not passive like this guy.

I think he was lucky that we had a decent pass rush on for most of the game so they couldn't paint a target on him.

All I know is that the whole coaching staff needs to do something to stop these second half lapses. We came out and threw the ball 3 straight plays with a nice lead in the 3rd, punt and give GB the ball right back?

You've got a lead, play like it, but don't get lazy and passive, keep your foot on the gas, do what got you that lead!

Paymah is going to get better. He played quite a game last week after he was embarrassed against the Ravens. And our pass rush should continue to dominate, especially with a week off to recharge the batteries.

Yeah, I don't understand the change of plan either. Never liked the "prevent" style in any sport. The offense's job is still to score points. Go out there and do that!

Thats only because the steelers didn't go after him like they should have...he/we got lucky there.

The only thing Paymah is fit to cover is his eyes as the receivers blow by him...

For a while there in the 3rd we only had 1 player defending the pass well, and he wears #93. The secondary needs to step it up period. I'm hoping next year we are looking to either sign, trade, or draft high for a corner, as Winfield isn't getting any younger.
