Sometimes they need a quick breather so they can run through another defender like he did late in the game (the very play before this, if I'm not mistaken). Chester is no slouch and not a bad guy to have in the game. The guy didn't make a catch. Favre threw the ball a little high. It happens. Time to move on and beat the Pack.Aaron Run that play 20 times and taylor's probably going to catch that ball 19 times. That play is his play. Absolutely correct that AP has just BULLDOZED a dude and ran for a BIG gain. That late in the game, if AP is back in there he may be a hindrance since he's whooped. Yeah, Favre's throw was a little high, but he hit him in the hands and Taylor took his eyes off the ball. Had the ball been high AND late, then we have a different situation since the defender would have closed the gap. The throw was plenty catchable and Taylor muffed it. Plain and simple. Doesn't make him a bad player, doesn't mean he should be cut, just means he blew a play that he makes almost EVERY time.
BlueLundFishrman
Yeah hopefully they get Childress signed soon. Then they don't have to worry about trying to pick from the likes of Tony Dungy, Mike Shanahan, Mike Holmgren, or Jon Gruden, among others, to replace Childress next season. Don't let their SB rings fool you, Brad Childress is the one to lead the Vikings to the Lombardi Trophy.
bassNspear
Actually it was 4 plays. They got a freebie on a penalty. so why not give it to the best in the game!

AWH
The pick was on 2nd and 3, so it was actually 2 plays after the big AP catch and run. So who knows if he had caught his breathe yet or not. But the dude was definitely winded after that play. Either way, I have no problem with the guys on the field there. If it's incomplete it's now 3rd and 3 and probably a safe bet AP is in there on that play.Aaron
Swimbait2009
Completely agree with you Aaron. Chester Taylor is no slouch. He could start on a different team without AP. I bet Tampa, Oakland, or Arizona wouldn't mind him right now!
blue_healer_guy
Chili is the only person stopping the vikes from a super bowl. Yesterday proved that.

The vikes called a safe play that could spring for a big play and an absolute fluke happened. Chester never drops that ball.
Cold Front Pooch
That game was the biggest fluke, the Vikings beat themselves... By the way not to sound like Dan Barreirro but why are we rushing to resign Childress? Hes good through next year so wait till the end of the year, I dont think many teams will be rushing in trying to steal Chilli from us... Why would you pass twice from the half yard line? Without play action, im sorry but run AP 4 times and get 6. Gotta get Favre his stats though...

croixflats
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAARHG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I guese they have not learned from the past that you dont increase the contract in mid season. Example: CunninghamOh well this could work for Minnesota favor. When Favre is gone and he no longer has a quarterback to make him look good maybe California will pass on the vikes in 2012
pegleg
What do you mean, now Favre will stay a Vike through 2013.
TR21
I think as long as Ziggi is willing to pay for the players they have brought in recently and Chili keeps his current staff in place it probably is a good deal. You could do worse- Cable, Mangini, Jauron, Rex Ryan, Del Rio, Phillips.
Wadinator
There was NO NEED to do this now. DUMB.
PierBridge
There was NO NEED to do this now. DUMB. Actually it makes a lot of sense. I think some of you are over reacting here. All thats being done is Chili is getting proportionately what the other coaches in the division are making. If it makes you guys feel better Chili can still be fired if we go 17-2 and lose the Super Bowl. He's being rewarded for the teams and his success. And truthfully the contract is a bit low considering were about to win our 2nd straight Division "1st time in 31 years for that" and he's the sole reason Favre is here... Carry on and deal with it folks it'll be OK!
zepman
Completely agree with this decision...if, for nothing else, he has earned it. Two division championships in a row deserves to be rewarded.
maros91
Great move by the Vikes. He has gotten better every year. 6-10, 8-8, 10-6, and now 8-1. Good move by locking him up.
BrdHunter01
Completely agree with this decision...if, for nothing else, he has earned it. Do you watch these football games? Chili's game plan before farve: run, run, pass punt..... Chili's game plan after farve: run, pass, run.... "Lets just play for the field goal," why play for the win? personally i think he has the worst game plan every game.... Wait a sec, I don't think he ever has a gameplan. Also horrible play calls year after year.

BrdHunter01
I never said fire him... Just don't resign him. I was dreading this day for a long time. Biff, do you even watch vikings football? Are you also claiming that those records had nothing to do with that guy named Adrian? Or I also think theirs a guy on defense.... Is his name Allen? With the talent Childress had the last 2 seasons it shoulda been a runaway... And how many playoffs games has he won under chief of the vikings?I'm also wondering if you know how much $ Zigi has put into the TEAM (For Childress) over those years? How many "big games" has he won? What his record vs. the packers (excluding this year)?
