Sweet, different pics from what I saw. What a flippin horse. Rumored to be 5lbs heavier when the DNR tagged it in the spring! Amazing coloration on that fish - wonder if the fins were reddish when he caught it.

Anyone have the length and girth of that fish? I saw that it was 50lbs 8oz but no measurements. What a hog!

It probably was, it just didn't have all the extra sand wieght

That is a gorgeous specimen. Color is incredible. I'd love to know the measurements on that freak. I heard he caught it on a quick-strike rig hooked up to a cat?

well I'm not saying it's fake, because from what I can tell from the F&S site everything is legit.

It just looks strange....maybe the pink fins are throwing me for a loop.

And to think I never started fishing muskies until I moved away from Michigan. Guess I should have started earlier. Those fish out there definitely have some awesome color in them. I've caught a few, and they are all very nice looking fish.

Yeah I think the pics look kind of weird too - but maybe just because the size of that fish is so big. I can sure see why there is so much scrutiny regarding the world record fish and the disputes that surround the various records...the pic of this fish sure looks like it could rival any of the world record fish pics out there...

Yep, weighed on 4 different certified scales, and a fish that was tagged by the dnr earlier this year at the same length. From the sounds of it the color is due to where it was caught, in a very deep and clear lake, >300 feet deep IIRC. It is also a great lakes strain fish.

I agree muskieboy. It use to be that if you didn't have a picture of a fish that you caught, no one would believe it (this still happens). Now, when a legit picture and official weight are taken, it is still being criticized. What more do some of you folks want?

It looks weird to many of you because:

1. It's a great lakes strain fish. They have different coloration then the ones around here.

and

2. It's dead. The only fish pics most of us even see anymore are from live fish. There is a HUGE difference! Personally I like the pics of the live ones best...

I love looking at big fish pictures, and really don’t care the size, but this one just stood out as being unique as far as the fish’s appearance. Almost looks cartoonish to me.

Don’t confuse that with being negative or not believing it’s real.

haha, I doubt he's that short. The fish is a good 12 inches closer to the camera. And if the camera is above them at all it will skew the length even more.

The only reason the photos look a little fishy is because there's a BIG FISH in 'em!

They might look a bit odd, because I mean really, how often do we actually get to see NEW, GOOD pictures of a new state record musky, or anything even close??

That is the prettiest musky, and prettiest picture of a musky I've ever seen a picture of. They really lucked out on a nice sunny day to catch those colors. It's sure going to make a beautiful mount.
