Man shot while ice fishing!!

The Lyon County, Iowa, Sheriff's Department seeks the public's help in locating suspects who shot a Canton man who was ice fishing Wednesday night on the Big Sioux River.

Rob Johnson and another man heard shots being fired and Johnson was struck in the right hip by one round that came through the shack near the Klondike bridge about 6 p.m. The second man left to call for help and saw two vehicles and four high-school-age white males leaving in a hurry.

The vehicles were a smaller, possibly 2-door green car and a red sport-utility vehicle with South Dakota plates. Anyone who recognizes the vehicles should call the sheriff's department at 712-472-8300.

The worst that happened so far is a guy got wounded and not that severe from a stupid sensless act. Does a death or another injury prove anything except one is willing to take a life at not knowing the circumstaces of why or what just happened..

since ice houses are off lakes, they must have had a portable house, meaning that there is no dought that there was people inside the house that was shot at. this almost could be attempted murder, or should be.

Sheriff Blythe Bloemendaal had told KSFY that a 15 year old boy has turned himself in for the shooting of a man in an ice shack on Wednesday.

The Lyon County Sheriff says that the boy admitted to firing a shot with the .22 caliber rifle.

Rob Johnson, the victim of the shooting, told us he was shot near the hip and that the bullet will have to remain in his leg as doctors say it is too dangerous to remove.

He and his friend were fishing near the Iowa-South Dakota border when they heard several gunshots, one of which pierced their tent and struck Rob.

Sheriff Bloemendaal has also told KSFY that they know six teenage boys were involved in the incident, and that four of the boys have been questioned. Names and charges will be released after all the interviews have been completed.

The Sheriff said that they are getting a clearer picture of what the boys were doing, and that, "they were in that area shooting .22 rifles at bottles, cans, etc. This particular 15 year old shot into the ice shack."

Ive done a million times the stupid "mistakes" this kid has done, but Ive NEVER shot at anybody.My point is that kid could be dead by selfdefence.Life or death?I'll take life!!!!!!!!
