MUSKY18
I have been thinking about getting a butt seat for the front casting deck of the boat. Haven't ever used one before, and wondering if it is worth getting one or not. Thoughts??
Esox_Magnum
I like using one, the muskie boats got a Maxum on it so for safty reasons its needed. hoping he puts a terrova on it this year. I use one in the back to, helps on those 16 hour days or when thowing bucktails.
jonesen
I can cast about 2 hours with out one and all day with one. But I'm old so...
eyehead
I agree....It's nice to have one when your on the water all day. You wont regret getting one, neither will your back.
Dano_the_jigasaurus
Butt seat oh yea only way to roll especially when bass fishing....oops I mean musky fishing...well using the front trolling motor period....
S.D. Ice Angular
Yes, a BIG Yes!!!! Get It, Get It, Get It...I also have one front and back and I normally fish with just the dog.The only down side (for me anyway) is that I take the posts and seats down / off the desks when trailering. So it is just one more thing to put up and take down but compared to the comfort, Hahh!!! "piece of cake"!!!!!!!
delmuts
I love mine too! Having back problems it gives me to lean against and or partially sit on. Much easier on the back. Also nice if the water is a little rough.
OTCBigBass
Every boat should have one or two if you like your fishing partners. They make a full day on the water casting a lot more enjoyable. I have mine in the boat when going out for more then about 4 hours, but for just an evening out casting it usually leave it in the garage. setterguy
I have the "satellite" seat in my boat and will never go back. I had the butt seats in the past and even using them my back would get wrenched from having no support. This seat you can swivel so it gives you something to lean against or sit on. Very nice.. Tonka Boy
I don't like them just for the fact I like to lean back from time to time. As a result I've almost fell overboard a couple of times! I prefer to stand all day. I use only 7.5' rods or longer so not much bending. Keeps the back in good shape.
RK
Hiya - Man if I didn't have one I'd be in bad shape. My knees are about shot, and standing on one foot all day running the TM is a killer. I rarely actually sit on mine - I just lean on it once in a while, but it's a huge help. Also REALLY helps keep you stable and safe in rough water.Cheers,Rob Kimm
RuKiddingMe
I want one in the worst way - here is the problem I have. When i went looking for one I found that the bases in my boat don't accommodate for a pedestal/bicycle seat. The bases and seat posts in my boat are the attwood marine 238-Series 2-3/8" So with out changing out my bases I'm SOL (i think) unless someone can tell me different. The guys at Gander and Cabelas were worthless when I asked the question. RU
50inchpig
Hey, there are a few adapters available at BPS, I use the Springfield Taper Lock adapter, looks like there is one on there that might fit the 238 base, hopefully they're able to answer your questions if you have to call. That 238 is a tricky one to work with.bassprodotcom - boating, boat seats and accessories
10,000 Casts
One has been on my list of things to get for some time. I don't remember what bases that I have in my boat but I know that a pedestal butt seat is difficult to find for it. Expensive too. But if you plan on being on the water all day, it's well worth it. S.D. Ice Angular
RuKiddingMe,I am sure that is the same base type I have?? I will have to check later tonight when I get home. I do know I had a very difficult time finding something to work and ended up getting items from 3 or 4 different stores. Mine is in a 2007 Sylvan Expedition. I have several length tubes. But I will look tonight and take some pics if you like???
brmuskie
So what am I missing here? Don't you just buy the post that fits your base, then buy the seat mount that fits atop the post, then place a bike style seat on it or something similar? That was my plan - but may need to reevaluate. S.D. Ice Angular
Yep!!Sounds easy doesn't it...Well depending on the type of bases that your boat manufacturer uses it can be a very easy task or in my case it was a real pain in the A$$.I did not want to have an odd style seat base so it took some searching to resolve "my want" of a but seat.I got the first one to finally work and it didn't take long to buy it all again for the rear also. RuKiddingMe
Sounded really easy - then I went out looking take about disappointment. I look forward to hearing what finally worked for you SD. My boat is an 04 Monark King.I'm not sure the adapters on BPS will be a fit, but may very well work out.Anyone else experience this?RU
Deitz Dittrich
Hope you guys dont hate a bass guy in your forum... But I have a butt seat, and would not be on the water much without it.. ALso, for those who have ever tried a boat with a T.Moter pedal sunk into the floor.. way nicer!!!!
50inchpig
Been thinking about sinking my TM pedal somehow, any way to post pics or ideas? Don't want to hijack the thread....
HuntBigFish
Butt seats are the way to go, especially when it's windy. My back doesn't hurt much, but my ankles and lower legs get really sore from standing all day. We even built a platform in back so I could have one too. nater
I like my butt seat on my new boat, but it makes the 8 tough. One day I got caught leaning against it when I had a muskie come flying out of thick weeds behind my bucktail. I stood up and think I spooked em. He stopped and swam away... MUSKY18
I have an 07 Lund Explorer. Think it will be hard to find on that fits my base up front and back?
